KZbin noticed I rewatched some videos of yours recently, and started recommending more and more 🙃 Not gonna lie, some things I do miss from how your garden looked at some stages in it's development, but those hedges are not one of them, with how great your boxwood hedges are doing right there I'll never miss those Ligustrum hedges 🤫 But that simple begonia container is engraved in my memory, I'd do that every year 😬

Hi Laura. I’ve been watching you for about a month now. How I had just gotten to know you and your garden content just now, is something pretty cool! Needless to say, you are my guilty pleasure. I respond well to smart and effective teachers, so keep them coming. I chose to comment on this video as I wanted to know what brand lawn furniture you have on this video. I am referring to the one with the round finials along side the containers near your back porch. Your reply is greatly appreciated. Since you do lots of container type videos (love them!) would you consider doing a video about "after" the container is used? Such as: is the dirt no longer usable or can it be fertilized/amended for next year; what about things like moss/cocoa fiber/burlap used in wire baskets; should I leave the dirt in the containers outside if I live in a freezing climate; do I need to clean/disinfect the container after the season...I am sure you do other things or have some ideas. Maybe do a video later in the fall!

Ps- moss is murder unless you grow it your self- I know it looks great but it does impact our ecology - I grow my own and use it when ever I need it - it comes back every year and no forests were robbed of their moss. I truly love your garden esthetic!! Just so lovely- do you ever grow things from cuttings or seeds?

What all things do you keep in mind while selecting varied plants for a single big container and also for a spot in the ground?

For in ground planting, I always make sure that there is four-season interest in every area. So, I always start with some type of evergreen or something that has great winter color, and the other plants need to cover spring, summer, and fall. I also like to have grassy textures every once in awhile and differing foliage textures and colors. I always try to make sure there is a little green, blue, red, and yellow in every area. For containers, I just try out all kind of stuff! I don't like to set rules on containers. I plant things I think are pretty- occasionally I put something together that I don't end up loving, but that's a great way to learn! :)

I put some heucheras in a pot but I don't know when to take them out and plant them in the ground. When do you do it? It seems you transfer a lot of plants into the ground at the end of summer but does it give them enough time to adjust?

I usually start thinking about it in October. We don't start getting really cold until mid to late November, so it still has a few weeks to get settled before we really get into winter. I mulch really well around them either way, though! :) ~Laura

Hello! The moss I used wasn't living moss- it was the bagged, decorative type just to make the pot look a little prettier. :) (Supermoss brand Preserved Sheet Moss). ~Laura
