That's exactly why I am so intrigued by this instrument...for the freedom of playing intuitively without any pre-set rules...that is what I love the most of the RAV Vast, thanx! Compliments Rick on your cool jacket's, on your collection of cool hats ;-) and on your videos

My favorite tip is to play it from your soul!! Not quite your words, but I find that when I just let go of the mind's 'right way', magic happens. The other tips are great too, especially spinning the drum....I go 90 degree at a time and just go exploring. Number 5 drum is in the mail! Thanks for your dedication to the Rav bringing us your teaches.

Love the videos and the advise. I have my first one coming soon... Unfortunately I will be traveling to perform when it arrives. I just got into harmonic music a year ago with a native American flute, dijiem, jaw harps, and a kalimba. So I fell in love with the Rav after seeing your comparison video and it helped for me too choose it over the hand pan. Sound, durability, and price. Love your tutorials too. Namaste brother

Waiting for my Rav, excited, but a bit apprehensive , what will it bring for me, will I be able to make it talk to me? Tip 5 is just great, yes, I will take the challenge and make this drum mine. Looking forward to the challenges ahead , thanks for your wonderful blogs and guidance

Thanks for the video! I love all the tips, and the one when you rotate it 180 (or even 90 degrees) is a game changer! Not only breaking habits and suddenly finding new melodies, but also seemingly dull keys start to sound different and much cooler! :D I guess this would depend on the instrument though, and on the way you hold it: knees, or stand or whatever but I really like the sound of reversed Rav!

I do own a Rav Vast and own it for a few years now but I am not that happy with it. Even tho I love the sound, I think I chose the wrong scale for myself. A Integral isn't my scale to work with. Maybe I'll trade for another one or sell it and get a new one to fit my frequencys better. So here is a Tipp from me if you don't own a Handpan and have to fortune to live in a city. Try to play as many different rav vasts as you can to get a feeling which one connects with you. Nadishanas playing with the A Integral version and the sound of the instrument was the most convincing one to me. Playing it in reality feels a lot different.

Agreed! Try as many as you can. Depending on your playing style, each one may suite you better. For me, integral is excellent because of the triads and chords availible, but depending on your style of playing, I can totally understand. Great tip! -Ricky

Hello ReWildYourSoul! What is your name? I am a newcomer on the Rav vast family! I am very excited! By the way, at a video you made were you walked through the woods, you said that you are in Massachusetts. I have lived in Boston from 1998 till 2002. Miss Boston very very very much. Wonderful people, very kind and polite. Hope to hear from you.

Hello Ricky! Nice to meet you. The forests offer peace of mind and clean air. They play their own kind of music! So many sounds, so many different fragrances. Almost magical. It will take some time till i publicly show any composition of mine. I want it to be well structured and sincere. I need time to practice the technics of the Rav vast so i can produce a clean and sharp sound. I am really excited to be part of the Rav vast community-Family! Thank you Ricky.

By the way Ricky! In my hands i have right now a b celtic minor! But i have also ordered an arabian night, onoleo and E low pygmy. B celtic minor is just so imaginative and intuitive. It offers a lot of rhythmical pathways with a very distinctive and harmonious sound. Do you have any recommendations on recording equipment. I bought a nice rode microphone. The stereo video mic pro.

I just got a low E pygmy drum (I prefer the lower sound range) and I've been wanting a drum like this for years now, I can't wait to start experimenting and playing it properly. The sound is so lovely and your advice seems very good, so I'll be sure to implement it while playing !

One thing about music is it's a form of art and it's that there's no "right" way to make art, I've learned that in the Furry fandom and it's true that there's only Technics and styles not to mention self-expression that makes it you being you, expensing your own creativity is the point of art and be free to be yourself kuz that's what makes you you. Mr. Rogers said it better tho lol ♥️
