Hello my Friends!
This is the first in a series of new videos, that help you get to know your instrument!
Though I am talking about the B Celtic Rav Vast 2 in this video, the same can be applied to D major, B Rus, B Kurd, as these are similar scales.
My goal in this series is to help people begin thinking of song construction and understand the basic progressions available on each scale!
Hope everyone enjoys this as a review. or a starting point for new players!
Remember, do not let others convince you there is a correct way to play these lovely instruments.
What I share is my experience and how I go about creating my own music.
Your approach may be different, but...
that is ok! There is no CORRECT way of playing, so please ignore any negative internet trolls who tell you otherwise :)
If you enjoy it, then you are correctly approaching it.
Strive to be the master of your OWN style!
Stay well and remember,
Rewildyoursoul
Ricky

Hello, great Video! I am thinking about getting a Celtic or the Kurd Rav, but I am wondering, how much harder it is to play the Kurd? Because you can't do this one Diad you are using very often anymore (cause the G is inbetween). Is this a problem? Or is it only a matter of getting used to it and practice? And how difficult is the playing with the two notes in one space? I hope you can answer my questions, have a great day :)
@ReWildYourSoul

Hello! The kurd is really no more difficult than the celtic minor, as it is nearly the same notes. I think in terms of practicality, the kurd will allow you a larger variety of notes and triads! The spacing is very intuitive as well and I am certain you would pick it up quickly. :) Hope that helps! Ricky

@@ReWildYourSoul Thank you so much for your answer, this really helps! Although I just ordered a Celtic Minor Double Ding this morning ;) I think I would have loved the Kurd, cause as a guitar Player having the G-Major and E-Minor Chord as well would have been amazing! But there is something about the Celtic DD ... To my ears and Heart it sounds so perfect. Can't wait for it to arrive. :) Thanks again, Lara

Thank you for your skills and heart. I recently bought a rav drum b kurd (last week). I bought it for myself and my son who was brain damaged in a car accident. I want to play for calming sound therapy. I am a total beginner and would like someone help in how to learn and then how to include a second player on the same drum. He currently can only use his right side. Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed.

i got my first rav last week ( b onoleo), maybe you can talk a bit more about harmonies of this arabian scales (also about the f# in sen, arabian night etc.) what sets them apart from western diatonic scales and how to do chord progressions on them.

@@ReWildYourSoul great! I also heard, you do online-lessons. I have a bit of drumming background, but that was 25 years ago and I started with the lectures of mastering the pan. These will keep me busy for a while, but Im missing direct feedback from a teacher.

Hi Ricky, great tutorials, much enjoy it! Can you help me with some insight about choosing the right instrument. I’m planning to use it for meditations, sound healing (I play crystal bowls and pyramid). I’m not a musician and not planning to play much with other people, other than very occasionally. I’m debating between the B RUS and the B Celtic Minor. Both have a sound I much connect to, but given I’m not a musician, neither going to be following notes, or writing music, which one will be more forgiven and sound better with whatever I play? Thank you, Edy

Hey there! I think it really depends on what you feel. The B Celtic is a great scale and is highly recommended for beginners, however, the B rus offers a very unique major/ minor feel to it. Both, you will love, so i think my advice would be do go with what you feel! Hope that helps! Ricky

Why would one buy a B Celtic minor over a B Kurd?

Hi! 🙂 Thanks for your videos! I would like to ask you if it's possible to play a bass guitar solo on a rav vast? What does it take to do that? Is there any specific rav I should buy for this purpose? For example, is Kurd better to play melodies from a bass guitar or B celtic, etc? Actually I was interested in buying a B Celtic double ding, because I like the sound of it, but I don't know if there are all notes and semitones there to support playing melodies from a bass guitar. I mean, do ravs have all notes and seminotes of an octave at least?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 3 жыл бұрын
I would say that the B Celtic double, would be a bit less useful for you than the B Kurd, if you are looking for more melodic playing. I think maximizing your note potential would be ideal. Although I love the double ding, it does not add anything new to the scale (aside from an extra A in a lower octave) songs like all along the watch tower, hotel California, can be accompanied easily by the Kurd scale (as well as Celtic) Hopefully that gives you a bit more of an idea of chord progressions available. The Kurd also has a G next to the bottom note F#, so opens up the potential for a more alt rock progression. All notes are tuned with the fundamental, octave, 5th and 2-4 other partials. Isolation is possible, but finding a scale that matches the style you are hoping to play in is your best bet. My advice will be to find a progression you are looking to match, and listen to the scales and try to match them to that! I can send you along some links of accompanied songs with the Rav if that helps as well! Best of luck and be in touch!
