I know a few drivers, and i love busses and wanted to be a driver, knowing one of them drivers personally help me realize that their job isnt easy, so even when i come across "rude drivers" i still show respect and always say thank you as i get off, they're human just like us and we dont know whst their day was like!

I am a bus driver in Quebec(Canada) and I must say that I love your channel brother. They are clever and funny, but most importantly, everything you say is very accurate and a reality for bus drivers in Canada too. So, keep up the good work man, it helps me feel a little better to know that we are all part of the same community, especially when things go South.

Sto? Just had a argument battle with a bus driver . We were stoped at a bus stop for over 10 mins and I assumed we were ahead of schedule so I asked him if we were headed if we were and he started yelling me that I was not behind the yellow line then he takes off and then slams on his brakes and I was holding on thank god . Then he made me go out the back of the buss he also didn’t speak English so it probably escalated the situation more

One thing that really gets my butter melting is when I'm in the middle of driving my bus, they come up to me and ask for directions AND THEN wanna shove their cell phone in my face so I can read their Google Maps search!!! I had a passenger blow up on me a few weeks ago because I got upset at him for shoving his cell phone in my face and wouldn't answer his question. The reason I *couldn't* answer his question was #1, I was engaged in negotiating a 40-ft long bus down a tight street and needed to drive. #2 My anxiety went so far through the roof I couldn't think to answer his question. The more aggressive and uptight he got, the dumber I became. He said he thought I was messing with him. I was not. He caused such a stressful moment that I couldn't even think to answer his question. Thankfully, our transit district finally got around to installing barriers on our entire fleet so this kind of thing doesn't have a chance of happening again. How is it people don't think about our limitations??? Even *I* knew how to treat bus drivers before I became one, because I could plainly see that they were engaged in driving a huge vehicle. It doesn't take that much intelligence to be able to see what's plain as day.

I know this is about mean bus drivers but sometimes there’s bus drivers who don’t know when a bus leaves (they wouldn’t know because their base doesn’t operate it) so they call dispatch and they helped that rider get where they were going considering the route they wanted no longer operated that day. Bus drivers WANT to help when they can. And so do supervisors.

I had a new to town passenger, that was asking me why the bus, that went his destination, had passed the stop. I politely advised the passenger that if there was a bus already on the stop, he would need to walk along the street, to the back of that vehicle and signal his bus from there. It turned out he was from a city where the convention was to stop at a bus stop if there were passengers on the stop. He seemed to think I was rude, because he had to make an effort to catch his bus.

Yesterday I had a bus driver refuse to give me a transfer after I paid my fare. I asked for a transfer, he said no, wouldnt move the bus. Told me it wasnt his problem. I never stepped behind the white line or sat down and came back. I asked at the time of paying my fare. He parked the bus and kept telling me not my problem. The other passengers had to stand up for me. I couldn't believe how this man treated me, I was nothing but courteous and respectful and PAID MY FARE. This is in NYC. I have come across so many nasty drivers. You get on, you say goodmorning or hello and they just ignore you. They drive recklessly, they have major attitudes and its we the customers are baffled by it. Im not the reason you are having a bad day. Respect is 2 way street.

@@BusDriverLife i would never be rude to a bus driver, im also thinking about becoming one myself. And in my area there's a lot of country routes, where there is no real stop, so you have to pick people up and set them off at odd places. Ive also driven with something called the X bus in my country, and its a bus that drives only between the bigger cities, so its faster. And onr driver at one time wouldn't set me off at a bus stop i wanted to, he drove me much farther to another stop, a designated x bus stop, so i had to walk much farther. And i was annoyed by that. And that's just poor costumer service in my opinion

The problem is the contrast in the social dynamic between the individual passenger and the driver couldn't be more stark. The passenger thinks they are the centre of the universe to the driver in the moment of interaction whereas the passenger is a blur among many to the driver. The mindsets are in stark contrast, therefore it's a breeding ground for a dispute to arise easily. On the flip side, knowing this, it's important the driver manages their responses to keep disputes at bay. There's a perpetual conflict which makes that job challenging.

I've ridden transit buses enough to know the score. I'm always pleasant to the driver, even though there are times when they are having a bad day. One time, I had to head downtown to pick up an electric bicycle. I had a couple $1.00 bills but no change, and the fare was $1.50. So, I dropped a couple bucks in the till and told the driver that it's OK, and besides the transit agency could use a couple quarters now and then. :)

The thing I do not understand is that I will be looking at a customer poking around on their smartphone, at several of our terminals there are outdoor screens with bus timing information and they walk by it without checking the screens, and then customers will board the bus and still ask for connecting/other bus time information and schedules. Then if you politely remind the customer you don't have the info they are seeking and refer to these options staring them in the face, they often don't accept it and keep asking questions. This is just the reality of being a driver, we do what we can.

Sometimes I’m at a red light and I get customers…open the f*cking doors. And Im quiet and they be ready to fight until a person points out ur not at the stop then they get quiet and embarrassed. Or I’m pulling into a stop and I know where I usually like to stop the bus and this lady is yelling at me to stop the bus so I’m like can I get the bus into the bus stop be patient and she gets an attitude. One guy came up to me n said ur lucky ur a lady 😒. Another assaulted me by throwing change at me…. He ran the bus down for 3-4 bus stops. Like dude u missed the bus basically ran to ur stop to throw change at me🤷🏾‍♀️. Forced the window open a few times because I kept closing it (driver windows need locks please) and proceeds to do that to me for doing my job. Needless to say that bus was out of service and I had a paid “vacation”. Meanwhile he was prob scared to take the bus again and worried every time he saw the police. Ppl logic is so stupid sometimes. No lie he almost got pepper sprayed but moved away on time. I don’t care if I would have gotten in trouble with transit…. My life is worth more to me than a pat on the back for taking an assault with an open chin. Foh!

A lot of these are common in retail too. 1) Expecting a person to know every item in a store that stocks thousands of items is unrealistic. 2) Disputing prices of items (too expensive and blaming the representative who has zero control over prices, demanding sale prices when the sale is over, telling me they've seen it cheaper elsewhere but don't bring in proof like a catalogue or refuse to show an online store on their phone). 3) Lots of different responsibilities: Answering phones, managing separate counters, identifying thieves, managing stock and customer requests whilst still trying to serve people. 4) Yes, if you deal with several idiots or aggressive people in a row, you almost go into pilot mode (just get through the day without punching anyone or losing your mind completely), so you seem more detached and less "pleasant" as it's literally self-preservation. 5) People love to enter the "exit", and exit the "entry" entrance. People love to push through the doors or attempt to come in when the store hasn't opened yet or when it has closed. I'm in the early stages of being a bus driver recruit. I think I'm well prepared given my history in retail and customer service 🤣

I remember during Covid there’s was this driver in Riverside on a route that go to Disneyland would kick people off the bus if their masked looked like it came off while he would wear no mask or drop his every moment. And at this time this route ran every 2 hours. I stood up for a few people cuz he was just contradicting himself. I would say “you keep taking your mask off I see you doing in from your mirror. I drive interstate coach. One of my favorites is the passenger that assumes everyone on the bus wants to listen to your music. My response was hey want me to play my mom's magic organ polka. I once had a driver who kicked me out of his bus just because he didn’t understand my destination i tried to explain it to him but he still didn’t understand so i showed him my destination and he didn’t understand anything and he tells me to leave i told him why? Then he yells at me LEAVE NOW!! YOURE MAKING PEOPLE WAITING i then apologized to him and left the bus and took a taxi instead idk if it’s something common for a bus driver to force a passenger to leave, i was on the right stop and the right bus number and the destination i provided to him was valid but he still refused and kicked me out in a rude way, since you’re a bus driver can you state the reason why he did this? Sorry for my bad English

I‘ve been a Transit Operator for eighteen years. When I first started I was exposed to a culture of people in our society that will never change. We are a welfare society. Public Transit in this country (America) is a taxpayer subsidized welfare program. Transit managements position is one of "We operate a welfare program." The official motto and position of the Transit agency is "If they don’t have the fare let them ride", do not challange them, do not ask them for the fare…let them ride, hit free on the farebox input. Our Government reenforces this by ever increasing welfare and disability benefits. Therefore they have created a generation of entitlement. Most people that ride public transit are no longer the working masses, at least here in the Pacific Northwest. Now I‘m sure that’s very different back east. But here, in Tacoma Wa. I would estimate less than 10% of passengers using local service are productive, working people. That’s the way it is. I‘ve taken public transit in Europe alot, it is a whole different animal there. It is a pleasure taking public transit in Europe. That will never be the case in America. And what astonishes me the most is, everybody has these powerful handheld computers, they practically conduct their entire lives through these devices and yet, they can’t seem to simply pull up the bus schedule and read it for themselves. Well, whad‘ya do? It’s only going to become worse.

I’m not going to read all of the comments but this is what I will say I understand about customer service and people can be rude and I understand and I’ve never worked as a bus driver but I don’t care what your reasoning is for being a mean bus driver if I’m giving you respect and I’m talking to you the right way and I’m not disrespecting you then don’t talk to me like that if I’m not talking to you like that because I’m a nice person and I only give back what’s given to me 100% of the time I will be courteous but a lot of these bus drivers are rude to me for no reason so I understand that they have reasons I have my reasons why am sometimes rude to my customers at my job. However at the same time most of the time if I’m rude it’s because they’re rude to me and even then I still try not to be as far as bus drivers there’s no excuse being mean and rude and rotten to a customer that’s not giving you that same energy back

Not only some are rude and mean and some are incompetent. As far as answers to questions I agree but you should know bus fare and your route and your coach as well as how to operate wheelchair lift and secure it. But have many instances of drivers incompetent in this area. Now as far as bus fare. I had incident boarded in wheelchair with my Medicare card and valid drivers license in plain sight and showed him and gave him time exam showed him deductible ticket stated wanted 4 hour ADA pass cost is 50cents ticket was for dollar. He was suppose to punch in code so deducted 50cents from ticket then came out then punch in again for pass. Asked him did he put ADA code in no response showed him IDS again and ticket waited nothing then he did something asked him again no response showed him again and he said yeah put ticket in came.back out and fare box asked me deposit money shown which was dollar which would be full fare and ticket came out nothing left on it. So he had not put in ADA Fare then had audacity tell me I owed him another dollar I laughed at him said wrong u owe me 50 cents and 4 hour pass and some stupid passenger came up gave him dollar to shut him up then I got my four hour pass guess what ada pass for full fare Oh where do you let wheelchair off if bus stop is in snowbank.

Im a retired bus driver in England. I had an incident once where a passenger wanted to alight from the bus at some traffic lights instead of waiting for me to turn the corner and stop at the bus stop. When i told him I couldn't let him off, he got nasty and actually put his shaking fist next to my ear. I just kept looking ahead and turned the corner. The bus was full of shoppers, so I guess he thought better of it. As a bus driver, there are so many things that happen over the years that you could write a book.
