Confusing - but as I contemplated my past 3 years of videos - I suspect it all depends on location - cause the Philippines has a wide range to pick from. More choices than Cambodia has with many more varieties of cost of living. --- I really like Siem Reap - for example - but - 4 or 5 places in the Philippines on different islands - for example !?! > Whereas - Cambodia only has 1 that really appeals to me. --?-- Can't wait for your next cost of living video - I always adjust them to my tastes and have fun doing that - compared to my US life !!!

@@AutumninAsiaWhat does trying or brutal mean practically speaking , especially for folks in our retired age demographic? How can people tolerate either living in a sauna or being confined to air conditioning 24/7? I just don't think I could handle that heat and humidity. And the issue of sanitation in food stores and restaurants especially because of the heat?
@AutumninAsia7 ай бұрын
@@dovygoodguy1296 Yes the heat and humidity can be challenging for sure. I spent many years in desert cities so I'm kinda used to the heat (sort of, it gets tiring after awhile). The humidity for me is ok, my body does better with the humidity. As far as the foor goes, I have never been sick from the local foods from the markets. The times I got sick was from a popular French restaurant here in Siem Reap. If you are curious about how you could handle the weather here you would need to come and experience it for yourself. hi we are thinking to retire to siem reap done a lot of research my son has a friend in Malaysia who told him its not safe in cam odia but I have seen no reason to believe this perhaps you can answer this question x?
@AutumninAsia3 ай бұрын
It is safer in Cambodia than in Malaysia. Most crime here in Siem Reap is due to stupidity. Someone at Pub Street or Sok San road, drunk, dressed to the nines, throwing money around, leaves the bar a 2am but wakes up in an alley as the rosters crow, broke. I feel safer here in Siem Reap than in the USA !!! I hope that helps. Have a great day and thank you for your comment !!!

Easy. Over 50 retirement VISA is about $300 per year.

Kelly, have you done a video on Visas?
@AutumninAsia3 ай бұрын
I have touched upon it in a few videos, but not a "visa video". Those videos are helpful and there are many out there. I highly suggest that you do your own due diligence on that issue. It could save you time and money in the long run. Thanks for watching the video and have a great day !!!!

@AutumninAsia26 күн бұрын
I'd recommend doing a little research into the local market to see what is already available and what people are looking for. However, I have seen many businesses come and go in just 6 or 7 months. Then a few months later another business will do the same thing. The only people then are the ones who are leasing out the buildings! Be careful and do a lot of research. Boots on the ground here for a couple of months and get to know some owners. Thank you for your comment and have a great day !!!

May I ask how old you are sir? I would be living off my Social Security and a small pension. In the city of Battambang. do you know much about that area in terms of cost-of-living housing availability etc.. I have a friend who lives there and it looks quite cosmopolitan. thank you
@AutumninAsia4 ай бұрын
I am in my 60's. The cost of living depends on your goals, lifestyle, and comfort level. Many videos have been made about the cost of living and most will say the same, basically you control that. I don't see BB to be different than SR as far as the cost. Vanna, my Khmer girlfriend tells me that BB is a little bit cheaper than SR. SR has about 139,000 people, as to the 1.09 million in BB. I have been to Battambang about 4 times and I like it. Different things to do and see. I hope that helps. Have a great day !!

So, you left the rat race, eh? Good for you! It takes great courage to leave one's birth country and move to another nation that consists of a very different culture and varying degrees of customs! Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Unfortunately, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and all of Europe is collapsing, both culturally and financially. Western civilization is collapsing, that's the bad news but the good news is that the Eastern civilization (and some regions of South America) are rising fast. China & Southeast Asia is the future and I am very happy for you that you have decided to start this new exciting chapter in your life! 👌🏻 I moved to South America and met the woman of my dreams and got married. It's been several years and we're still very happy together. However, I still have my folks and friends in America so I will have to go back every now and then, but only as a visitor because the writing is on the wall. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber and friend! 😎

Ah, those "cat ladies"... I can imagine. Cambodian people are so much more open than neighboring Thai. In Thailand it is all about money. No real relationship is possible. Money is king in Thailand. Fake smiles...no friendship. I find Cambodia way friendlier and "warmer".

If the Thais were a book, the book would be bound with silk and gold thread with an ornate cover and even the back would be beautiful perhaps with even more gold stitching....now you open the book, and there is nothing. It's all about appearance with substance having no place.

Hi there. How difficult is it to get a visa
@AutumninAsia4 ай бұрын
Very easy, probably the easiest in SE Asia. They have changed some rules and you need to go to the website www.evisa.gov.kh/ If you want to stay long term you will have to come in under an "O" visa and then apply for a long term visa in about 2 weeks at just about any Travel Agency if you are not in Phnom Penh. Hope that helps !!!

What about long term visa?
@AutumninAsia5 ай бұрын
I get the 1 yr ER visa for about $280 for the year and then just renew it every year. I don't know if there is any longer visa. Maybe if you are a millionaire... It is really easy to get your 1yr. Visa. It is a multiple entry visa so you can leave Cambodia and come back with no problem.

Sir if you don't mind, do you have your social security check direct deposit to a bank in Cambodia? I will retire in about seven months.

No I don't. I have it deposited to my Charles Schwab acct. I then go to the ABA ATM and take out money. Then deposit into my ABA account. Charles Schwab will reimburse all my ATM fees at the end of the month. Hope that helps.
