Awesome video Thomas! 32 years old now and my most recent cut has been a nightmare the last 20 lbs have been sticking to me like glue, definitely been dieting too hard for too long, cycling off keto with some clean carbs and an some extra calories for 2 weeks to increase leptin makes so much sense. So simple and somewhat obvious yet such a simple over sight, Thanks bro!!

I have dramatically cut my viewing time of Thomas's videos because of the excessive ads. The comment that KZbin is secretly placing them in is false. Ad slots are predetermined when the video is edited and KZbin inserts ads in these slots that are directed specifically at what they think the viewer would be interested in. In turn for these annoying ads, Thomas gets ad revenue. Once I had all the ads I can take, I launch a Joe Rogan podcast where in a 2 to 3 hr stretch I get at most 1 ad or I'll choose a Tom Bilyeu video with no ads. I think Thomas's subs have stalled, in part, from the constant bombardment of ads.

Exercise and protein are crucial elements to sustaining good health as I've come to discover, which I will explain below. I've done keto and IF for almost 3 years, arguably I've been keto and Mediterranean for most of my life. I had switched to an aggressive ketogenic diet and IF routine, even doing long-term fasting, and incorporated organic produce, and zero sugar. The results speak for themselves, I went down to 155 pounds from 184. I'm fairly tall to average height, around 5'10, and turning 29. I also have an athletic background with kickboxing. Needless to say, I realized the importance of dieting, of metabolic flexibility, and the importance of exercise. Now, 155 is probably too low and I recognized that I had lost some muscle, and now halfway into 2020 I'm hovering at 170 putting on a lot of muscle while staying lean. I changed up my routine and started eating more, even increasing my carbs slightly. I can't stress the importance of protein and exercise as a staple habit. In hindsight, I didn't need to increase my carbohydrate intake at all. I just needed protein, because I realized that I was starting to store energy, so I went back to fasting a bit longer, doing alternate day fasting, and increasing my protein intake. I realize that I had been slightly sedentary in early 2020 which didn't help my metabolism, and the fasting was a double whammy. I used any excuse to work out again. I would have to say that fasted long walks give great results but I digress. You NEED protein and exercise. I don't care who says otherwise. Animal based protein is essential and I would go as far as to even say crucial. Our bodies are made to digest nutrient dense foods. This means small plate, big nutrition. Fats and Proteins. End of story. The vegetables provide antioxidants and arguably the only purpose they serve is for the fiber content and gut bacteria modulation. Vegetables get fermented in the gut and become ketones. Gut health is important and many vegetables provide antifungal and antibacterial properties but I'm going off topic. When you're ketogenic, you're not high fat, you're low carbohydrate. The carnivore diet is ketogenic and it is arguably where you want to end up with your diet. Too many vegetables contain lectins which can damage the gut. Too many vegetables contain phytic acid and anti nutrients. That is not to say that you should go carnivore and eliminate vegetables. I would go as far as to say that you should have a balanced approach to meat and vegetable, because our guts show that we are omnivores.

This MAN looks at his COMMENTS!!! On the last video I wrote something about how I have a cheat week and if I was really good 2 cheat weeks. Truth be told I binge on the first week and in the second week - I try to go back to eating healthy, nourishing food to get back into the habit. I lost 21 pounds from it and it gets rid of any sweet craving. It’s nice to know there’s a science behind it and that I’m not crazy or doing it wrong.

Excellent video. Great job in covering the three legs of the stool: 1. Diet (what you eat [more protein - 20% of calories are used just to digest it] and how you eat it [sporadic fasting and no snacking - raises glucose and lowers metabolism])1a. Cheating (longer period of time - like a long weekend or a full week like a "cheat vacation" to rev up metabolism) 2. Exercise (in fasted state - burns more fat)3. Sleep (fast after bad night sleep - less impact on fat storage)

TD, your videos help me a lot. I have something for you. Write down everything on your mind before going to bed. (It has to be with a pen or pencil on paper. There is some kind of connection) If you’ve ever repeated a phone number over and over so you don’t forget it, you know how the brain works. The brain keeps you up all night trying to remember stuff you need for the next day. It’s the same in the morning if you remember a movie you were watching or a song you heard before bed. The brain can’t relax because it’s trying to remember everything for the next day (repeating it over and over all night long). If you write it down on paper your mind can let you relax and sleep. The brain knows it doesn’t need to remember your “to-do” list because you physically wrote it down. Make sure you read the list the next morning so your brain will trust you next time (lol). I hope you get a good nights rest.

Point number 1 doesn't make any sense. The Objective of the study is this In type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and progressive β-cell failure require treatment with high insulin doses, leading to weight gain. Our aim was to study whether a three-meal diet (3Mdiet) with a carbohydrate-rich breakfast may upregulate clock gene expression and, as a result, allow dose reduction of insulin, leading to weight loss and better glycemic control compared with an isocaloric six-meal diet (6Mdiet). Therefore, the study is conducted on obesity caused by insulin use in diabetics and thus, have no influence on people with an healthy insulin response. The weight gain they are trying to prevent are caused by the high insulin dose, and this is not a problem in healthy individuals.

For me, what makes sense is to eat only when hungry. HUNGER is the tricky part especially if carb addiction is a play. But sorting out when I'm actually truly hungry and then eating only nutrient dense foods is the only way I can get a handle on my hunger. I've been through a period of time when I missed eating; wasn't hungry but wanted to eat something. That's when I find something to do to distract me and get my mind into something else. Eating "regular meals" is not on my agenda. IF is a natural process. Focusing on the program is also turning out to be detrimental. I want to get so good at this I don't have even think about it, I can just live my life in a healthy way and stop all the attention to over thinking every damn thing.

Alissa Dalton there really an overwhelming amount of info and opinions on KZbin because everyone is looking for “thee” answer for weight loss - but the formula is really simple. Eat less calories than you burn and the calories that you eat need to be as healthy as possible (low carb, high protein as much as possible). From there you just have to be patient and stick with it and the weight will come off.

I have fasted many times over the last few years. I have lost 35 lbs at least twice. Great results the first year. The weight did not come back like it does now. I can typically lose around 3lbs per day. Unfortunately, my metabolism is so slow that any dinner ads back around 2 lbs per day. I have gone months eating medium to heavy and then restarted my fasting with no effect. I recently tried alternate day fasting. I typically fast Mon, Wed & Friday since easier to do when working. After 5 weeks I was close to where I started. It may be that I'm at a plateau point. Open to any advice.

I don’t do cheat meals ... currently doing OMAD... I had a baby 6 months ago and it has been so difficult to getting back to my pre baby weight ... I don’t know what I’m doing wrong ...I am keto/carnivore ...I am a recovering type 2 diabetic ...it’s been in remission for years now ...I started out low carb and lost most of my weight then hit a plateau and started keto ... I like to run for exercise... I used to run 3 miles a day before the baby and now I find myself hating cardio... my son is critically ill and still in the hospital and has never been home ...I know stress is hindering me ...what can I do?

Have had 8 babies. Never dieter, but weight fell off by a year. Feed yourself well to make good milk.

You answered your own question- ditch OMAD-eat at least two meals a day-get yourself back to normal-mix it up

Your son is critically ill and still in the hospital? Don’t look any further. Stress is producing cortisol, which promotes fat storage. I know that this is easier said than done but concentrate on stress management for now and forget about the weight. Here is hoping for your son’s recovery. Take care of yourself.

I love the video. I know you cannot specifically pick where you want to lose fat (kind of).. but I'm having no problem losing it around my abdomen.. for some reason I am having trouble leaning out my chest. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to change that?

Randy, I remember when in a digestive physiology course, we were taught that certain hormonal deficiencies could cause one to store more fat either in the chest, the stomach or the hips. So one looks at the activity of Pituitary, Thyroid, and Adrenal glands (its been a long time since having the course). But you get the idea. Of course there could be simpler explanation that some one else may now. Good luck.

Hey Thomas! Thanks for the video!!!! I did have question about sleep deprivation as you refer to it in the video. Would you say it is a couple hours less than what you normally get as a deprivation or specifically if you only get 4-5 hours like you mention in the video? For an example someone who gets 8-9 hours of sleep a night (they clearly don't have children) and then gets 6-7 one night... is that still this sleep deprivation you are speaking of? And would this be a good time to as you said in the video fast that day?

Thomas i would have absolutely loved your video if you had said “fat” instead of “weight” in the two first and last studies. Or at least just touched on it. You did mention “better body recomp” in the last study, but how do we the viewers know that’s not just your personal opinion?? However it’s still great and probably very helpful information😊 keep up the (usually) good work!

Hi there. thanks for your informative videos, they have been helping me a lot but i get so confused when you talk about fasting too much. What exactly do you mean with that? are you talking about over restriction of your calories or spending many hours without food and still hitting your macros in the end of the day (literally)? I have been doing, depending on the day, either the omad protocol or splitting it into two meals. I eat exactly what I am supposed to eat in regards of my macros/calories. Im not restricting myself more than what I am supposed to be in my precise caloric deficit, since im on a diet to loose weight. am I doing wrong? Please take me out of that confusion.

Kind of the same question here: does time-restricted eating without major caloric deficit (still 16-22 hours, 2-3x per week) not provide ANY fatloss benefits?

Went to this butchers box website and it is NOT user friendly. They just want you to "pick a box" of meat but you have no idea what cuts you're getting, what part of the chicken, nothing. I guess they just want you to take whatever they send you. No, thanks.
