I agree with everything you said, my only regret is not realizing it sooner in life. Spending every opportunity I can in the water and hiking to new places.

I agree with everything you said, there's just something that is so different about flyfishing, it hooked me 39 years ago. Enjoyed watching. 👍

Yes there are many memories, all day trips, and long trips are written down in many journals. It's great to read back on trips from the past. @@ColbertOutdoors

i feel like these reasons relate to fishing in general regardless of which style of fishing u prefer i personally fly fish and have lots of spinning rods i use both on a regular basis sometimes my spinning rods absolutely are the way to go and other times its all about the fly rod we should embrace fishing as a whole without seperation

You are exactly right. There is something to be said for either style of fishing and, no matter what, time on the water is truly special no matter how we choose to enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching!

@@ColbertOutdoors no problem man just felt I would share that cuz I feel like often times there is to much separation between those of us that fly fish and those who run spinning gear or bait casters

Yea as I'm picking up all the trash styrofoam containers , 50 lb mono line , lures left in trees , catching fish with 4 treble hooks stuck in them and dead fish floating in the water ....from all you bait casting / spin fishing people .....Yea there is a difference between the styles ....you don't see fly fishing folks doing all of that ....I work for the forest dept around water and see this every day ....people need to learn how to fish the right way and pick up after them selves .....but they don't and it's always spin fishing or bait casting fisherman . Or at least 85 percent of them ....I hope you don't fish like that as well ....🤬

@@Sirskibumsalot nope definitely don't fish like that in fact I organize river clean ups cuz yes we do see that but I have also found damaged fly lines left on banks as well as flies and fly fishing leaders I've picked up after the fly fisherman as well

@@Sirskibumsalot there is actually a lot of people who are willing to help clean up rivers that use spinning gear and bait casters there is always some bad apples absolutely but there is also a lot of good souls out there that help pick up after others and are willing to join in on river clean up efforts to help make sure we have clean rivers for the future of our fish

The fly anglers I have encountered in my last five years of fly fishing have ALL been super nice people. Fly fishing is definitely a passion and it IS INTIMIDATING...at first...but thanks to KZbin, there are a lot of cool tutorials out there that will get you started and then some. It's NOT that difficult, nor expensive. Though it can be...But seriously, you can spend about 150 bucks and get started fly fishing. And catching your first fish on a fly rod is a thrill that will get you hooked better than the fish!!! Great video.

These are some great reasons to learn to fly fish. I especially agree with the last one. I’m 59 and grew up fishing with closed and open faced reels but was always a little intimidated by fly fishing because I didn’t know much about it. I started fly fishing about 6 months ago and really enjoy it. I wish I had started sooner. Like you said we need to slow down and enjoy the beauty around us. It’s hard to beat a beautiful mountain stream and all the scenery around it.
