Waveform Pro 12 is amazing. I first used Waveform Free 11 but I wanted the chord feature so I bought version 12 and now I create my own music song in less than an hour. And I love your videos Zane. They are very instructive. Sorry for my poor English, I'm Swedish.

Just got this as my first daw since Cubase on the Atari! It seems the most intuitive, all the myriad of features on the big ones are just too damn intimidating and distracting for me. Seems a good middle ground between GarageBand and protools 😂

The way I worked around the master track limitation in the free version was to create a rack specifically for it and load up my usual mastering plugins.

sigh. OK, so there was an update today [v12.0.53 (Built: 21 March 2022)] that seems to have fixed most of the plugin UI problems. That's great! I am strongly thinking about buying the update, now. ✌️

Good video. Thanks. The following question is directed to the channel or anybody on this channel who may have the answers. As far as looping goes I can't seem to find any videos that cover the ability to change the loop as it's playing e.g. moving the beginning and/or ending loop points as the loop is playing so it's shortened or lengthened on the next cycle. Does Waveform free or paid have that option? Also does Waveform have an automated zero crossing point finding and marking feature. I have used other music software that will make a series of slices of a clip at points it thinks might be useful sample chunks. Thanks in advance for your attention to this.

Hello and thanks for your vids to Waveform 12 Pro - they are very helpful and i opt to buy it. Amongst others i would like to use waveform for creating foley. For this purpose i need to have a metadata library for to write in all circumstances (e.g. environment, equipment, pics etc.) which belong to my record. Can i find or create a folder for doing this in Waveform? Or can i set a link on my records for to jump to a corresponding file? Do you know a better way for doing this? Hm...difficult question!? Thanks a lot for your advice.

Hi Zane, is there a multi track piano roll feature in waveform 12. So that the notes from several different midi tracks show up and can be edited in a single piano roll?

I appreciate your videos as much as you do my pressing the like button 😉 Following your convincing recommendation, I gave Waveform 11 a try last year and soon after bought the Pro edition in a Tracktion sale last September. A good idea at the time, but what now really bugs me is the fact that the update from 11 Pro to 12 Pro ‒ which Tracktion inappropriately call upgrade ‒ would now cost me more than I paid for the Pro 11 full version only half a year ago. No grace … period! At around 50 USD, I'd have considered this update reasonably priced. However, I am not willing to spend 99 USD for what I consider no more than a minor, more or less superficial update. Since Waveform 11 has not been out for a particularly long time, Tracktion's pricing and timing strategy feels more like a subscription model. Updates at 2/3rds of the (non-discounted) full version price are IMHO too expensive. Considering the subscription analogy and thus comparing Tracktion's Pro package contents to what for instance PreSonus include in their Sphere monthly/annual subscription (for some more money than the Waveform update price, admittedly), Waveform doesn't feel like a bargain any more (which it did when I paid a little more than 70 USD for the full Pro version 11 last year). For those who want to own a good software package, FL Studio ‒ with the Producer edition being the sweet spot ‒ might still be the best choice due to Image Line's lifetime free updates. PreSonus Studio One Artist (included with PreSonus audio interfaces starting with the AudioBox models), is also a good choice thanks to third-party plugin support starting with version 5. Or, let's just stick to Cakewalk by Bandlab … highly approachable thanks to your excellent video tuts, Zane. That's it for today. I hope I didn't bore you overly, dear readers. I agree, Manfred. I did the same thing and bought Pro 11 last year and feel $99 is too steep for those of us that did so. However, they are running a 20% sale right now so I decided to get it anyway for checkout total of $79.20. Still a tough pill to swallow but I think the new features and audio engine justify it.

Waveform 11 is an excellent DAW. I have enjoyed making music in it for 2 years and could easily continue using it without needing the latest and greatest stuff. So if you’re happy with 11, then stick with it. Many pro producers continue to use older DAWs that they know and do not upgrade every time a new version is released because they are already comfortable with what they have so why upgrade and have to learn new stuff. It’s all about making music and whatever helps you to make music. If it’s Waveform 11 use that, if it’s FL Studio use that, if it’s Cakewalk, use it. Whatever works best for you. You don’t need to upgrade every time a new version is released. FL Studio Producer Edition was the fist DAW I purchased (20 years ago) I still get the free upgrades but I really don’t use it anymore. For the style of music that I create, a free DAW like Cakewalk is much better. So yes the lifetime free updates seems like a good idea, it’s a program I don’t even use even though I can have the latest version whenever it’s released. It’s all about whatever works for you and if that’s Waveform 11, there’s no shame in that. It’s a solid program, you own that program and it works. Stick with it.

silly question: any usb hub you would recommend? considering 1)interface 2)midi keyboard 3)keyboard 4) mouse 5) usb thumb or ssd i generally have to sacrifice stuff or would those Usb C to 4 USB 3.0 hubs work for music?

Hi. A small quaestion... I was not able to extend a step Clip lomger than one bar. I could, but the Clip repeated the first bar on and on. Am I missing something? Thank you for your help in advance P.s. Good Video btw 👍

If I install this program on my PC, will some of the Cakewalk audio effects be available on other programs (e.g. Vegas pro 19) ? so that I can clean / eq Vegas sound track inside Vegas by using Calkwalk effects?

You don’t need this program to be able to use Cakewalk effects in Vegas or any other program. This is it’s own program and has no effect on Cakewalk, Vegas Pro or any other program. You can use Most of Cakewalk’s effects in other programs you just need to include the Cakewalk plugin folder in the plugins section of those other programs.

I Purchased the mackie pro FX10 version 3 which came with Waveform12OEM . It seems that I can only record 3 tracks and the 4th track is degraded and the 5th track doesn't record at all. Is this something I'm missing? THANKS MUCH!

If you put in your email address and password that you registered the free version with then it should remove that voice. In the past I’ve had to restart the program after logging in, in order to remove the voice.
