I've had my 2016 Gen Coupe GT for 4 years still love it to this day, 0 regrets buying it. I've had no issues with reliability (knock on wood), I have done oil changes every 4-5k kms and brake pads once that's it for maintenance so far since owning. I like the fact that these aren't on every street like Mustangs/Camaro's. they stand out a bit with some decent wheels on them.

The reason there are so few mods is due to the extremely low production numbers. Hyundai only built around 123,000. The paint on the spoiler is due to the dealer. They were painted and installed separately at the dealership. I bought my 2013 3.8 Grand Touring new in 3/13. I have 62,000 miles with no issues and no regrets.

Owned a 2013 touring for a number of year, traded it in on a larger 2019 rav 4. I absolutely plan to rebuy an Rspec as a second car. Loved that thing, and honestly the maneul is the way to go. If I can find it in blue or yellow it's on! As mentioned, there is less modding done, so your car would be a better option used, less kids tinkering with whatever on a budget. It's a fantastic car to buy in 2024. 370z is more expensive, and I see them everywhere. Finding one with half decent milage it's. Ore expensive for something in a manual. Same performance just about anyways.

For anyone who is curious about buying a Genesis Coupe, don't buy one. I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8. I plan to save up money, sell my car someday, and purchase a 2019-2021 BMW M240i xDrive. If I get enough money, I will skip that and get the new G87 M2. 348 horsepower was nice to experience, but I'm ready for the next level. There is no point adding a Remnant Performance turbo kit. Everyone blows up their cars. Even people with built engines have destroyed them. It's pointless. If I had a 2013-2014 BK2 Genesis Coupe 2.0, I would consider keeping the car and having it built in the future to make 700whp. As of right now, I see no point in keeping the 3.8, and I've owned the car since 2017 or 2018. My family helped me get the car when I was still in school. My mitsubishi mirage kept breaking down every other week. Again, it's nice for my first "fast" car, but the newer cars are simply faster and have better engines. Even the Genesis G70 has a better and more powerful engine. That engine should have been in the Genesis Coupe. If you're in high school and looking for a first car, Genesis Coupes are fine. Just make sure it is a 2013-2014 Genesis Coupe 2.0 and not the 3.8. Don't ask why. If you have the money, skip all Hyundai and Genesis cars and get something better.
@Bk2.Kantrell10 ай бұрын
U make some valid points but I don’t think people shouldn’t get the car just because people are blowing engines. The majority of the time the engines blow due to low oil and lack of maintenance. Idk much about the turbo kits and stuff but I do know that the engines have to be built up to handle a certain amount of power, even the 2.0s. Does this platform make the most hp out of a stock engine? probably not. But it is still a good car to mod and drive around especially if you can find one that’s been taking care of/ not ran through and at a good price. For me I do not plan to go crazy besides FBO due to it being my daily Btw m2 and m240i 👌🏾I hope u get it soon.
@none63694 ай бұрын
Real reasons not to: timing chain failure/issues, its a gdi motor= garbage, they tend to blow up around 100k+ miles when you tune them, the manual version has issues with gear lockout and grinding, every exterior seal leaks, interior isn’t the best quality, tends to wear quickly. The 2.0t is a worse option, that 2.0 in them is also in the Hyundai sonata and they blow up all the time just stock, they also have timing chain issues even worse than the 3.8, they have potential to make good power but again it’s a terribly designed motor, they also tend to burn tons of oil later on.
@none63694 ай бұрын
Kia/hyundai cars are built very badly in general(ask me how I know) they have a very long history of their motors blowing up and their cars catching fire, I honestly have no idea how they’re still in business. My local Kia dealership has replaced up to 130 motors in their cars just in one month under warranty because of premature failure. The Genesis coupe is a cool concept but owning one is a nightmare waiting to happen.
