Yes Yes Yes! As an emerging director i've felt really stuck recently thinking how I'm going to get to the next stage of my career and get signed to a production company/get a rep. I directed a short documentary for spec last year and can see how that helped me a bit and got me a couple potential opportunities, even though I'm nowhere near where I'm trying to be. It sucks that I don't have a lot of money to put into projects but I'm thinking I just need to make it happen somehow and it is really inspiring seeing other filmmakers also saying spec work is the way to go, as opposed to talking to other directors who have told me they got given random 'opportunities' by networking on set (This has never happened to me lol) This year I'm thinking to direct a fashion film for my jewellery brand and direct a brand film for a charity. Let's hope it pays off!
