Can this be done on older or lower spec cameras as well? Or is this a feature that only the higher models have?
@TommyReynolds896 жыл бұрын
This can be done on almost any modern DSLR Andy but to be absolutely sure your camera is compatible, go to www.tethertools.com/product-category/cables-adapters/ then select your make and model and it will tell you which cable you need :) Thanks for commenting Andy!

I shoot still life and food in the studio and working tethered makes a world of difference, especially when checking focus and if small reflectors are doing what you want. The only reason I upgraded from my wonderful 5DII to the 5DIII was because I wore out the tethering port. I have the same table which is incredible value, but it won’t fold flat which can be annoying. You forgot to mention the breaker things you use in case someone (usually me) trips over the wire.

I used to shoot tethered all the time but I've kinda of slipped away from that... you've inspired me to shoot tethered more again. Thank you. Great video!

Hi Tommy, I agree, tethering is really helpful. I just want to add here a few informations. First, it's also possible to use a network cable in some cases (depending on the camera you use). Then we have to take in account the data transfert delay... Second, a few days ago, I discovered that my digital camera (12 years old) supports tethering ! But I also noticed the pictures were then not saved in the memory card (inserted in the camera) but only on the computer itself. (may be this is different now with newer cameras). Finaly, another information important to share is the following : Depending on the software you use to tether, you can directly change the camera setup from the computer (or not) 😊. For example using lightroom it's not possible to do so, but from the manufacturer software (like Canon Eso utility in my case) it can be done. Thanks for this video.

Thanks for the tips. I never thought of using tethering. I do have a question though when your shooting with the camera wired up does it cause any delay when taking a picture?

You're making me want to start tethering Tommy! :-) I can see this being useful in a studio setting, but do you also tether outside on a location? I photograph primarily high school seniors and sometimes move from one outdoor location to another fairly quick.

Hey tommy plz make a video on Canon 700d And tell us its benefits. Coz people thinks that its not a better camera. I didn't think so.
@andyjh07_6 жыл бұрын
The 700D is now around 5 years old, it'll be a good camera but there are better these days. Wouldn't be very beneficial to put an entire video out on a 5 year old product :)
@TommyReynolds896 жыл бұрын
Mayank Upreti hey Mayank :) Andy is right the 700D is quite old and long discontinued now. That’s not to say it’s a bad camera. 18 megapixels is still great nowadays and it’ll be a good option if you’re on a budget. I obviously still use it here for filming which is still great for me. Otherwise, check canons latest range on Jessops.com and see what’s available today :)

Hello Tommy, I have Nikon D750 and the problem is that while tethering the files are not saved to SD card but to computer only. Can you help with this? I'd like to have images both in computer and camera.

Nikon doesn't save to the card only to the laptop.

Quality video mate - think the title is a little misleading though, this is more about top 5 reasons to shoot tethered, not tips about doing it. Still enjoyed

Hey Anton, you're absolutely right sorry about that. I've just changed it :) Thank you for your comment I appreciate it dude

Tommy Reynolds appreciate it, I’d actually like to learn more about cable lengths, ways people have sorted out preferences for Lightroom and others, and always value your content/thoughts. Love the slow down piece - think so many times, people shoot a lot to up the chances of a shot they like instead of honing in on it (especially initially), which tethering really helps out with. Cheers!
