I've started on my jazz drumming journey back in end of September/Start of October of last year. I've made some decent progress with my drum instructor and your videos on traditional grip has helped loads as well! This video has encouraged me to get back in and practice what I've learned over the past few months after feeling unmotivated to practice over the holidays. Thanks for what you do, Rob!

All points were spot on. The drumming community is awesome. I love when someone sees me wearing my Zildjian or Ludwig or Sweetwater shirt and asks if I play. An hour later and we're still talking and probably late for something lol. When I bought my kit this was one of the first channels I clicked on and immediately subscribed. This is the year I get serious and I get better. Can't always get on the kit everyday but that practice pad is going to get a workout for sure.

I did click because Rob is cool. I started in Aug 2023 (for the 2nd time), and I currently don't need motivation as I drum almost every day (and starting to pick up bass guitar...sit backwards on my throne for that, then put it down and spin around for some drums.) 🙂 I concur on the therapeutic aspect. Sometimes when I'm in a funk (not the cool groove type), the drums can bring me out of it.

I just think that you are cool. I have played drums for many years and agree that everyone should play drums. It is great for the mind, the body, and the emotions. Enjoy and you learn and remember that it is a journey that unfolds the more that you engage in it. One step at a time and soon you will be grooving on a beat and all is right in the world in those moments. This channel is one of the best resources for drum instruction on the internet. Rob always has great tips and instruction as well as drum work-outs that are all very useful. Welcome to the wonderful, whacky world of drumming, enjoy your ride and by all means, let your limbs fly!

I used to play drums for many years. 70s.80s Those were great years for music. But as time went on I seemed to lose the passion and zeal for playing. There are no gigs available that I want to play. And I like practicing and learning but after awhile it seems like a waste of time playing to the 4 walls. Music has changed a lot since I used to play. And it seems like live music is dying compared to the years that I used to play. I need to be motivated to practice and to have the opportunities to play out and play music that I like. The passion is no longer there. That's why I don't play.
