Ubiquiti in recent years always use these markings words like ultra or max to make its products sounds Powerful, but after several years of using its Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5 Access points I think their intro to middle level products like unifi nano HD and unifi 6 plus or unifi 6 Pro have better cost-performance ratio. And Wi-Fi 7 seems like to have a long road to replace Wi-Fi 6 cause Wi-Fi 6 provides a significant increase in speed and range but Wi-Fi 7 does not. MLO is good but if using 2.4 with 5g it will increase latency and dual band 5g or dual band 6g seems like a better solution

This is a good informational video. I used to swear by Ubiquiti and then ran into the usual issues others have encountered with the management software. I switched over to Engenius a year ago when I moved and I'm very happy with the two Wifi 6 APs I have.

I bought mine from the UB store as well. Mine got Very hot! It burnt my minger when I went to pull it down off the ceiling. I got a blister! I had to pull it down became it kept power cycling every 20 minutes. I assume it was overheating. I RMA and got a replacement. The replacement doesn't get much less hot but it is not constantly rebooting anymore. I got to say I am a bit disappointed. I am debating to return this one and just keep the WIFI 6 enterprise AP which I had in service before.

That's pretty much my experience as well. I can't RMA it because I opened it and everything, so Ubiquiti will have to accept any criticism that comes from my side :D

Typical Ubiquiti... half baked, half ass release.

Yes, I succumbed and picked up a couple of the wifi 7 APs and they perform worse than the Grandstream wifi 6 APs I replaced them with. I think I'm going to swap the Grandstreams back in and hope they update the firmware. Since they have decimated the alpha forums I've noticed the rate of firmware updates has really decreased.

Let's say that if MLO works fine, since it seems that Ubiquiti is currently releasing it in an early installment, then heat management is still a big problem. I am even willing to say that the U7 Pro is better.

4:13 I don't think warranty gets voided. That's what companies want you to think. According to Louis Rossman, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says the manufacturer has to prove that what you did to the product by disassembling it is the root cause of a warranty-covered issue.
@SamBondor2 ай бұрын
I assume the user needs to take them to court to force them to prove that nothing was damaged or is it a more streamlined process? In any case, I keep on getting these stickers in the EU simply because the law gives space for interpretation.

Q3 2025? That's insane considering brands like ASUS and even Xiaomi of all things already have MLO available on their routers.
@SamBondor3 ай бұрын
To be fair, both ASUS and Xiaomi have implemented MLO to work only with the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz radio bands. Perhaps adding the 6GHz is more challenging or maybe they stretch the release of new features as long as possible to always have something new and exciting for each router/AP generation. I genuinely don't know.

If you are willing to wait a bit more, the U7 Pro will get MLO (it's already available in some regions) and it's not a bad AP, far better than the U7 Pro Max in terms of heat management. Otherwise, the Omada APs from TP-Link are fairly solid as well.

I had/have a ac hd as a paper weight due to ubiquiti not servicing their products. I had a electromagnetic surge from lightning that hit nearby my house it corrupted the boot loader so it's stuck in a boot loop. the regular nanohd on my network was unphased by it. I called ubiquiti to see if they'd service it or offer a refurb like some companies will if you return the broken one and pay a set fee, but they do not offer those services. I'm very hesitant to buy another ubiquiti product because I've never had this issue with any access points before and it seems like this should have been fixable instead of throwing it away. I could see this same thing happening with the fan. Fan's die, especially when they collect dust over time. I only had my ac hd for a year and just out of warranty

What a lousy list of reasons. 1. MLO is still implemented. The first EA firmware is out there and Intel is also working on it (I got that BE200 non-vPro also). Let them develop it further. The mechanism is still young. 2. Yeah, that's what you get with new technologies. You'll be happy in 1½ year from now that you got it. 3&4. The U6-Mesh was warm. Be happy that they build it in. It will work, when it needs it. They put it there with a purpose. 5. Same as point 2, it's early and you'll be happy in a year or so. And there are lots of devices with WiFi 6E at the 6GHz band, so be happy that 6GHz AP's are getting cheaper, now WiFi7 AP's are introduced. You know what? Send it over to me. I guess I can appreciate the device more, and start making some positive KZbin video's.
@SamBondor3 ай бұрын
1. I don't think it's wise to buy stuff with the promise they will perform in a certain way in the future. Probably Ubiquiti will offer MLO and it will work great at which point everyone, including myself will be happy. And may be they will not. 2. The device is too hot. You can see it in the video, it will burn your fingers. The fan doesn't do anything. On the U7 Pro, it worked fine, but not on the U7 Pro Max. I get that you like Ubiquiti and, while I try to stay agnostic, I have been fond of them for years as well. But by god, the U7 Pro Max is not a good device. But maybe you're right and things will get better soon. I will do a video of reasons why you should buy it when that happens. I will gladly send it over, but I still need to run some tests until it gets better, if it does. Let's talk again after about a year.
@petervandebeek59803 ай бұрын
@@SamBondor Yeah, I wasn't assuming someone would just send a device over like that. And I guess it's a whole different situation over a year from now.

UI website says 'max power consumption 25 W' and 90+ % of that get converted into Heat ... too much IMHO
@HumukuАй бұрын
In what else should it be converted? The only way out of the energy is RF-radiation and heat. To make their products less hot, they have to decrease the energy consumption. I tried to use a AP 6 Enterprise and it got way too hot for my taste so I reverted to my AVM 6000 Repeater. Which uses way less energy for more or less the same performance in the 5 GHz band.
