The best tutorials on KZbin are Vince Venturla's hobby cheating videos. They are by far the best raw classes in painting.

Fully agreed. For those who search, it’s “Vince Venturella”. It’s worth the effort, trust us! I’d also add Marco Frisoni to the list of must-sees. Zumikito Miniatures is also great. Great call, @Ulrican44!

Watch his videos, just don't compare you self to Vince V. Learn from them, but remember Vince paints between 40 to 60 hours a week.

I suppose, at the end of the day, everyone needs to find out what's in the hobby for them. I enjoy comparing myself to the painting titans - if only to steal their ideas, that I might not have thought of myself. I find fun in pushing myself for every and each work, just to get a little bit better. I purchased Sigvald miniature and waited few months before painting him, learning how to do NMM and contrast, just so I can get it right. This may, definitely, not work for some people - and that's completely fine, we are all different. Pretty good video overall, have a sub and good luck with the channel!

I’m just starting this video, but hearing you talk about the comparison and being hard on ourselves for not being better really hit home to me. I’ve only been back in the hobby for 2 months after being away for 15+ years. I’m constantly stressing out about how I’m not good enough, that I’m not at a professional level. So I’m looking forward to watching this and hearing these tips

After few decades l found out three things. I am worse at painting , then l was in the past. My brush control is gone. B l don't like to paint . I painted multiple armies . I never liked doing it. C the cost of painting vs other stuff l could be doing makes it really not worth it. Spending 4 hours painting to then be sick in the spine for a week . Hard pass.

Jay over at Eons of Battle has been my youtube sensei since painting my first mini a little over a month ago. The progress i've seen even over the course of two or three weeks has been wild for me. I still dont understand how im supposed to paint a single black pupil on what is essentially the size of an ant's butthole, But aside from eye ball dots.... its been great.

Let's call it artistic license. Our man is a gat dang war hero and hasn't had the time to get that concerning lump checked out... or removed."

Thanks friend! It’s a base of hexed lichen from Vallejo and highlighted with blue violet Vallejo. May have mixed a little ivory in the final highlight I can’t remember.

I've been painting for a couple months now but i only have around 14 space marines to my name. I am curious if painting to a higher quality should take this long. How long does it take you to paint something small such as a space marine? And would you recommend a airbrush to speed up the process?

I agree. Paint, have fun, learn and you will realize that you are improving. I will also add: don't strip your first proyects when you become better, just enjoy watching how far you've gone.

Sony a7III with a Vario-Tessar 18-35 and for painting right now it's a Canon M50 mkII. I really need to get a better set up for my painting shots which is why I haven't done a lot of filming that kind of stuff yet.
