As someone who loves the snow queen story (it was one of two stories I was told constantly when I was little) I would surprised if Disney ever went through with producing it because of how dark the story is. While the video didn’t talk about it, Gerda gets kidnapped by a group of bandits who want a friend for their daughter who threatens and throws knives at her for fun. There’s a witch that tries to burry Gerda to make her flowers grow and there’s a pack of wolves that routinely chase Gerda. It’s a fantastic story but I think changing it was the right idea because even the early concept based on it lost a lot of story without the darker plot

If you watch the Barbie as Rapunzel, you can clearly see where Disney took the majority of “inspirations“ for Tangled. Because of these elements here: “lost princess“, “ lizard companion“, “princess who paints“, are not in the original tale, where the main character is just a commoners girl. but are all present in Barbie's movie that came out years before they started to think of the current version of Tangled, it's rather convenient that people praise Disney's originality where they probably took many things from this movie. Also, I have my theory that they also took many elements from the Magic of Pegasus for Frozen, but hey it's Disney they can do whatever they want.

They kept some key points. The core message of Frozen "only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart" is directly taken from the fairy tale ie "love can melt away the ice in one's heart" - Gerda's true love is what finally melted the ice in Kai's heart. They even paralleled the notion that Gerda's tears, crying as she embraced Kai is what did it, meanwhile Elsa was crying as she embraced Anna. Another thing is Kai and Gerda were siblings, Anna and Elsa are siblings. What's ironic is in this sense, the final film ended up being closer to the original fairy tale. Originally at the start of Snow Queen/Frozen, Elsa was meant to be a villain. It's only once Let it Go was composed that they realised they couldn't give this song to an antagonist. I personally believe that is where there are certain ambiguities in the film, and certain aspects of the story that didn't tie in as seamlessly as it should've.

I mean I know that originally Princess Jasmine was going to be a brat and change later, but it does sound interesting that Aladdin was originally going to choose Abbi over her. If that plot line was used, it would have been seen as the subversion of the usual formula of the guy getting with the princess and chooses his friend. The reason the Enchanted Snow Palace was never built is simple: guests didn't want sedate dark rides, they wanted roller coasters. The board really wanted to greenlight the attraction, but at the same time, they didn't want to lose guests to Magic Mountain. Therefore, they passed on Enchanted Ice Palace in favor of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Marc Davis ragequit Disney shortly thereafter.

@louisacapell5 жыл бұрын
@@maurioooe1973 Georgian is a TIME PERIOD, from early 1700 to early 1800. Marking the time period during the rule of the Hanoverian kings. Baroque is a STYLE. It was a popular dramatic, architectural and art style , popular before and during the first part of the Georgian period. My comment is correcting the poster about the time period. They said victorian, which is far too late for the costuming and furniture style of the clips they were referring to. So, while some of the imagery is in the Baroque style, the time period seems early Georgian, if we had to place a time period on an animated fantasy story.

IorekB92 if you watch all the extended elements of Sleepy Beauty, look at the characters and how they interact. They clearly fleshed out Jasmine and Aladdin more than Aurora and Philip. Both party’s are prisoners of their fates, both get a full time magical guardian/s, Aladdin is expelled by Jafar, Philip by Maleficent, return to slay the polymorph version of villain, the villains are the same person lol. The market scene is very similar of the cut scene from sleeping beauty, Aurora and Jasmine sing in the same range. Plus many other elements, that are beyond fairy tail tropes. Obviously the Aurora/Philip Waltz is the Disney standard couples dance so this is excluded from the comparison.
