It's sad that practical effects on that level don't get done anymore. Child's Play is really the only series still using practical effects a lot. I wish more movies would go back to using more practical effects. I'm sick of CGI fests in every movie now.

I love Stitch's Great Escape I don't care what the others say. After being scarred from Alien Encounter it was a nice improvement.

Went there when I was 18 in 1993 and took advantage of mistakenly being given a wristband indicating I was 21.

I can name a few d land blu ders. A, not arranging the angle of the haunted mansion facade so that the center main door was aligned with the gallery elevators, B, not installing brakes on the waterfall drops in TPOTC , C, not extending new orleans square out into the space wher that boring critter/bear county is and D, america sings

Cecil B. DeMille left the set of his movie The Ten Commandments along the beaches of the Central Coast of California west of Santa Maria and to this day while driving on the beach one can see Egyptian statues over half covered by sand. A eerie reminder of past ancient Egypt.

I credit this ride with helping my childhood self become obsessed with movies. Just the trailers in the queue were enough for me. I would sit mesmerized by the trailer for Alien, dreaming of the day I was old enough to watch the film. I feel terrible for today’s kids that this source of inspiration and wonder is no longer extant- replaced by a kiddie ride.

OMG Pleasure Island was so much fun though, when I was there at age 16, in the spring of 2000!😍 We were naughty, and snuck contraband. So it was especially exciting, & made us feel like we were having a true, adult, "clubbing experience." I was so sore and tired the next day from all the dancing though!😂

Fun fact - Disney actually did end up making a residential community similar to what they planned in the Disney Springs area. It’s called Celebration, FL - and I actually made a documentary about it on my channel, if anybody is interested!

12:37-12:56 If the film is lucky enough to even get a rerelease. Especially if we’re talking about The Black Cauldron, which not only made less than half of it’s $44 Million budget at the box office, but to add insult to injury, it lost money to The Care Bears Movie, which had already been out for a few months at that point.

This was a centerpiece ride, like Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. It was a terrible idea for the park themed around movies to get rid of the ride themed around movies.

I went to pleasure island in 2005ish and it was just a big party island. There were several bars then of which had all different themes. It was a decade theme. bars themed from 50, 60, 70, 80's etc along with a futuristic themed bar. I found a diamond ring that visit and soon after found a woman and a man franticly searching the ground for something. I asked what they were looking for and they said a diamond wedding ring, which i replied, "this one" what joy. cheap fks didn't eve buy me a beer.

I loved this ride as a kid, and genuinely still think it has some of the best animatronics still to this day, the canons and stitch had such fluid movement and really felt so real to me and genuinely terrified me but in the best way possible. It's sad to hear how rushed they were and that maintaining the ride was a lost cause. Genuinely think if they gave Stitch a second chance and remade or refurbished the ride for a modern audience it could be a really amazing experience, if they just updated the humor/writing just a bit, but I guess it just sits and rots away sadly. I would KILL just to see this show one more time in any form. Stitch deserves something more than just a meet and greet and merchandise in the parks tbh

Wew went to WDW in 1995 and I remeber my parents going to pleasure island and being very vauge about what it was like. Sad I never got to go myself! But what a crazy fake backstory. Why not just go with the pinnochio version. That's what most people assumed anyway

Maybe someone in the comments can help me: the Disney Channel had a program that aired on weekdays on or around 5:30. It had a teenage boy and some sort of robot - very much a puppet, it had tape rolls for eyes. The show had different skits in it with the story featuring the boy and the robot playing throughout the episode. Does anyone else remember the show? It’s bothered me for almost 30 years now. Thank you.

Went on RR exactly one time. The wait time ended up being over 2 hours, and the actual ride time felt so short, it didn't feel worth it at all. We were lucky that it didn't break down while we were on it, but I do remember seeing it stalling out quite a bit while we were in line and for the rest of the day we were in the park. I was in my early 20s at this point and had grown up with the Peoplemover, so it really felt like a downgrade to me. When we went to Disneyworld about a decade later it was a nostalgic treat to ride the People Mover at that park.
