Not me, I'm special! - Me continuously stumbling into pitfalls. Feels like making comics, much like drawing is about how often you do it. Get lots of 1-3 pager stories or short stories out to stumble your way through it.

For me, learning proper Character Writing is what has been the boon. World building is good too, but you REALLY need to be able to feel that each of your characters is their own person. They would do things that you WOULDN'T do, so it's important to try and feel out their personality. This is 90% of making better comics, in my opinion. =\

Oh gods the brushes problem! I never remember. And it's even worse when the comic is in colour and I forget the painting process / how I did what to end up with That One Particular result. It's a mystery. Every batch of pages looks different. I've started jotting down the brush names and putting them in a separate brush folder + I try to not merge layers too fast so I can take a look back and see at least a bit of my previous process.

I’m somewhat the opposite when it comes to Number 4. Like I’ll come up with 3-5 issues comic series. But I’ll get so overwhelmed thinking about 3 issues that each one is about 22 pages long. But when I think of it as a 66 page graphic novel, it isn’t as overwhelming. Plus people are not so impatient when waiting for a graphic novel as they would like for monthly issues.
@BrinkleyComics5 ай бұрын
Oh that's interesting. I find that, with really long comic projects (100+ pages) then it's really difficult to see the finish line and progress doesn't feel as rewarding, I suppose. So it helps me to just think of the next page or two that's in front of me and ignore the size of the mountain ahead of me.

As someone who works on a few different projects at a time, I definitely have encountered the situation of forgetting which brushes and such I'm supposed to be using. It's awful, but creating a system to remember that detail would be nice, going forward.
