If you wanted to expand your vocabulary on position tactics, the military uses "cover" and "concealment" as two different types of protection. Cover is something that keeps people from shooting you, and concealment keeps people from seeing you. A concrete barrier is cover, and a bush or tree top is concealment. Cover stops bullets, concealment stops eyeballs.

Toby, congratulations. I think this is by far your most comprehensive and best video to date. I know the information bc I have watched all your videos already, but this one (not to detract from the others) is extremely thorough and well done. I predict that this video will supplant your combat movement or whichever one you normally claim put you on the map. It is full of exceptional illustrations, well narrated, and could probably be revisited by people of all skill levels at least once a quarter for perpetuity.

Just a small suggestion for next time you make a similar video about peaks and angles: I feel it would be a lot more clear and easier to mentally picture if the person you're in the practice map with also records their FOV So when you want to emphasize just how strong certain angles and cover are, you can have the playback lined up side by side to sell it.

Your tips are great! I still suck at short range fights - great at distance but soooo bad at short range! Very good video, some awesome tips, agree with alot of things. Some things I noticed and wanted to touch upon 1.Its sometimes good to use the slide sprint but not always, its very predictable and a good player will fry you in some situations, sometimes u want to zig zag, slide, change directions be unpredictable, so I generally agree its good but not in all situations is it the best option. 2.When you were on the roof and you jumped to get out of cover and shot, u never wanna do that, u expose urself for way too long and are an easy target, u want to use forward movement to peek shot and go back exposing yourself for a very short time But other than that very good vid, also your right shoulder peak is very nice!

Thanks for another great video! I always learn something. started playing in December and I really like this game and I'm not half bad at it (btw I'm a 50 yr old mom so if I can do it anyone can) . I've kind of set some rules and guidelines for myself and they definitely helped me improve staying in the game longer. Personally I like no build and my win rate is about 10%, about 50% of the time in top 10 and the top 25 at least 75%. I'm not the best at shooting I'm still working on that but things like landing in places where I'm not competing with other people, buying NPCs for extra help, spending the first half of the game getting the weapons that work best for me, bandages and potions which by that time usually less than half the players are left. I use cover and conceal at every chance while moving place to place, using sprint wisely, staying low to conceal footsteps when possible. Since I'm still not the best with some weapons, I have no problem letting others fight it out while I find a position to finish them off since there's no focus on me.

Ever since you told me to take more responsibility for my losses and not blame hardware all the time, I decided to stick to what I feel most comfortable, and that is mid range. To my positive surprise, you went in detail as to why staying at a distance is ideal for starting engagements, which I felt validates my unconventional choice of not running a shotgun anymore. I've noticed I perform very well in every match I stick to holding angles and pestering opponents from 20 metres or further, while also not feeling disadvantaged up close (partly because the damage-per-shot of the burst SMG is the dictionary definition of illegal). I still have trouble fighting up close (and I lose 100% of 50-50s), but it remains encouraging to see that most of my losses are pretty close anyway. I believe you could've briefly mentioned how strong explosives can be, especially since the two we have now are some of the best of all time. Other than that, this is probably the single best video for initiating newcomers and reminding experienced players how to perform best.
@TobyWanShinobi11 ай бұрын
Thanks Yoshi! Glad you are seeing improvement! Keep it up :) ... I don't talk about explosives because they aren't something I'd desire to carry in 80% of situations. I am just better with guns and angles. If I see a clinger on the ground and we are pushing a vault, for sure I am using it. What you'll find is that the situations in which you are using explosives or EMPs are often dangerous ones because of the place you need to be in to use them, unless you are combo'ing with mobility and such. I love people throwing clingers at my bush because I headshot them or bodyshot them and shockwave onto them by the time the clinger is exploding - etc. But again, its a playstyle thing - and I am not always coaching with a "above average" playstyle in mind... I am more coaching to an "advanced" type of play. Because I don't want to encourage "crutches" like riot shields etc. People get too good with a riot shield and then it gets removed and now they go back to losing, etc.
@Yoshi1555011 ай бұрын
@@TobyWanShinobi I've had more success killing myself than hurting opponents with Cluster Clingers. They're seriously not that great. EMPs being instant are what makes them so much better in my eyes, since an instant shield wipe is an excellent deterrent, plus they have the added benefit of disabling vehicles. You are correct, however, in that they're a niche playstyle. Unlike Apex, where explosives are a constant (and therefore not carrying some tanks your offensive potential), EMPs won't stay forever. This is precisely why I always carry a shotgun in RvB Rumble, because we might get another season without any explosives (much like C4S3), and I don't want to be left behind when it comes to shotgun fights. So, until it's time for me to pick up a shotgun again, I'd like to cherish electrifying the battlefield as much as I can.

It's all amazingly decent advice! The only thing is this season's meta makes it almost useless with snipers being so OP you can always get one or two shot killed out of the blue, at close, medium and long range.

Move around and increase your environment awareness. You will still get sniped but significantly less. You approach a gunfight to third party it? Look around. You got shot at? Grapple blade attacking generally means you aren't confident in your aim. Also pushing people and taking 50/50s with the grapple blade is a large risk. If you have done good opening damage first, sure you can jump on them with the grapple blade.
