I had a lot of differences to go to the dentist when I was younger. And similar to a hairdresser it takes time to find the right one for you. When I was a kid some dentists seemed to me to be real sadists that time. It was real torture and pain. Ten years ago I find a dentist who told me that there is no need to endure the pain: "There are more pain killers in my closet than you could take." That´s what he said. And: don´t be stupid! Go to the dentist every six months. And do it with your kids either! It saves you from pain 😵and it saves you from losing money 💰

The setback of pain relief by laughing gas is, that there is a quota of fatal outcome, which is much, much higher than that of an infiltration with e.g. Articaine, which works as good if not perfect. So in most cases using laughing gas as pain medication in my eyes is a grave violation of medical ethics and should not be done even if the patient is masking for.

Root canal is covered by the insurance if: - it's the only tooth that will be missing in the row, if removed - its removal would require a new set of dental prosthesis - it's "worth keeping" (not too damaged) Some dentists don't want to deal with the insurance and ask you to pay out of pocket directly, but it might be worth trying to convince the insurance to cover the costs. Regarding bridges and dentures, the statutory insurance pays about the half of the costs. BTW, a dentist is not allowed to refuse treating patients with statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Versicherte).

When you find a good dentist, stay with them as long as you can! I went to the same dentist for over 20 years until I left Germany. *Fun Fact* : my dentist was in the same house where David Bowie and Iggy Pop used to live during their time in Berlin. The exact same day when I had an appointment a memorial plate for David Bowie at the house had been revealed, there was nothing going on when I entered the building and a red carpet, champagne and media when I came out from my appointment. I was rather confused when I stepped on the street with all these people looking at me (they were actually looking at the memorial plate. For a very short moment, I thought these people were there for me. 😄😄

Also, it's not necessary to move the toothbrush as if you're doing the work yourself. Guide the brush along the teeth lightly, turning it to get in all the crevices. (my dental technician explained that to me long ago, hehehe)

Root canals are covered from public health insurance. Some health insurance like SBK also cover an Endontotist, a specialist for that.

I come from Germany and I can still remember that the dentist also came to elementary school for examination and cleaning. Everyone said they thought the protective fluid tasted great, I found it ghastly XD

I am afraid of going to the dentist. And my dentist is an absolute darling that I have known since he was little as his dad was my dentist when I was a kid. And we are related too. The poor guy does not deserve that I am shaking in my shoes when I come in.

@@lifeingermany_ moin nach Düsseldorf. Das Video ist mir damals entgangen. Vielleicht weil wir mitten in den Umzugsvorbereitungen standen. Kommt sehr passend heute. Ich habe am 12. April, einen Tag nach meinem Geburtstag ein Zahnarzttermin zwei Zähne abschleifen für Kohn. Die kommt dann eine Woche später. Angst habe ich keine mehr heute. Liebe Grüße Ben

Moin siehst du. Mir hat ein alter Dentist die Angst genommen. Ist ungefähr 35 Jahre her. Es war eine von den Zahnärzten, die es nach dem Krieg gab, die er Handwerk gelernt haben ohne zu studieren. Der arbeitet völlig allein in seiner Praxis und macht alles alleine also auch das zusammen mixen für die Füllung. Heute bin ich froh das ich da keine Angst mehr vor habe.

PS: meine Frau ist am Montag Not eingeliefert worden in die Klinik! Die Wunde hatte sich mit einem Abscess gefühlt. Wurde. Tiert. Und sie kriegt jetzt alle 8 Stunden Antibiotika. Gestern haben sie entschieden, dass sie noch einmal aufmachen und alles ausräumen müssen. Also heute. Sie hat große Angst, weil die Operation unterhalb des linken Kiefers stattgefunden hat. Eine Narbe würde also ziemlich anstrengend werden. Großes schied! Meine größte Angst ist, dass es sich um resistente Bakterien handelt. Ist ja im Krankenhaus heute nichts ungewöhnliches. Drück uns mal die Daumen sie so es soll eigentlich heißen: & stellend! Ach, bin ich wieder froh wenn ich irgendwann mal meine Kommentare schreiben kann und mich nicht auf Siri verlassen muss!

root canal treatments are covered by public insurance. I've had one done a few years ago. That being said, I had to go looking for a dentist who just did the treatment as paid by the insurance and not try to upsell me on some crazy fancy and expensive treatment

You should go to the dentist once a year. This gives points for the bonus card. You will need them later so that dentures are not so expensive. You must have been to the dentist for 10 years IN A ROW for the bonus to take effect at all.

Here in Spain the public dentist is just for taking your tooth off. I tried to use my private insurance and I used just one time and it was a horrible experience! I never felt so much pain in my life! The girl didn't know how to apply anesthesia and I still feel pain in the area where she used the needle, and I felt all the pain during the procedure. Since then I'm afraid to go to the dentists here. Besides, she didn't clean my mouth properly. It was a terrible job that she has done. I know that there are many different professionals and there are good and bad ones, but still, after that, now I'm afraid to go through all that again. 🙄😞 PS: I liked this topic, that would be nice to know more about doctors and another experience that you've had.

I use the cheapest oral B and never had problems with it. I like my dentist and not because she is a beatifull women(wich is a bonus LOL), just because she made me new teeth. I had a "special" history and lost many teeth. Now i have them all back. They are artificial but solid like the original ones. I can't take them out. She called it bridges(Brücken). 😁👍

I’m a bit confused. My sister lives in Canada, in Burlington. Your area I think? And she tells me that dental care also costs a lot of money for many procedures that are not covered by the health care. Plus she’s never been contacted by the surgery for follow up care, she always has to make the appointment. Personally I have a wonderful dentist here in Germany and receive top professional care from him. In my home country England dental care is virtually nonexistent and I know people who cannot find a NHS dentist who will take them on so they are forced to go private. I also find it strange that your dentist husband doesn’t drag you to the surgery a couple of times a year, LOL, maybe you’ll go more now that you have two children who will need to go on a regular basis. I have a sneaky feeling that this video was scraped together for the promotion money but never the less it's good to have a video from you at this time and don't put yourself under pressure to post new videos in the next couple of weeks, rest up and enjoy your new daughter.

Our dentist in DE has always sent out a "reminder card". And our child-in-law has changed dentists, after which it switched to civil servant status in vocational training (private insurance + state treatment plan). The old dental practice suddenly found "1001 necessary treatments", whereas previously praise was always given for the good dental care (while it was still legally insured through the parents).

Ill definitely be going more often now that I have kids 😜 .. its time to lead by example! Yes, Burlington is pretty much down the road from where I used to live. 🙃 Your healthcare coverage depends entirely on your insurance package. For example, my braces were thankfully fully covered because my mom and dad (even when divorced) were able to pool their packages together to pay for it! 💛 I was very lucky! RE: follow up, I think it really depends on the practice you go to. I mentioned this point because a lot of my foreign friends here in Germany felt the same way. And RE: just scraping this content together for the sake of an ad. I promise you, the content always comes first. I actually have 136 vlog titles in the works with points I want to talk about in them. Once the list is full enough (I add to it as the inspiration comes), I make it a priority to talk about on the channel. I only accept sponsors if a) I know and love the brand prior to or b) I’ve tested it before promising to publish as video with them as the sponsor. 🙃

I'm sorry, I have a real dentistophobia. Having grown up in a rural area, the choice of doctors was limited, and the first dentist I remember used some medi-evil (spelling intended) kind of treatment, like, you don't give painkillers to a child, just pull that tooth out, it's gonna be quick. Now my teeth have deep roots, and pulling one out is anything else than quick. He could have checked by an x-ray, but you don't expose children to rays, that was his thinking. You mentioned the upselling. Yes, that's right, public insurance doesn't cover all dentist costs (they once did in times long gone), so it's a difficult thing to decide whether you need or want something, or leave it at the standard, which always is the minimum. I'm 55 now, I don't care whether a filling will last 10 or 15 years, or my teeth aren't as white as white can be, because I know I will need artificial teeth anyhow when I get older, so they can use the cheapest material they have. I know it's an issue to younger people, but looking nice has always been expensive, and will always be.

It seems to me that the term shocking is used very inflationary, especially in the English-speaking world. I don't find anything particularly shocking about the examples given. If you haven't already, I wish you a smooth birth and good health.

We likely use it more in North America than anywhere else 😂🙈 .. to me the biggest shock was really the up selling (since it’s typically Americans who do that best) and the lack of X-rays and medication given here in germany.

I am shocked you go to the dentist so infrequently! Have you taken your son for a dental checkup? Disease in the mouth can cause problems throughout the body and regular dental visits can alert you to a problem..As a dentist, what does your husband think of you not getting dental checkups?

Hahah in all fairness, my husband regularly checks our teeth at home. Of course, not with adequate tools, but nonetheless has a good eye on dental hygiene in the household 😜 My son will absolutely be going to routine check ups at the office! 💛

upselling a "big" thing? hmm .. ofc there are some offers or recommendations going beyond base insurance, especially treatements which can be done bloody (scalpel) or with a more expensive tech (laser) to remove some excessive gum over a wisdom tooth for example .. but a "big" thing? hmm .. maybe some dentists, maybe with people who seem gullible .. no idea, didn't experience it untill now

Ich versuch's mal sachlich: was glaubst Du, wie KZbinr ihre Kanäle betreiben? Von irgendwas müssen sie dieses zeitintensive (wir sehen ja schließlich ein sauber editiertes Video, das nicht mal eben so im Vorbeigehen in ein paar Minuten zusammengeschustert worden ist) Hobby ja finanzieren. Und im Gegensatz zu so manch anderen kennzeichnet Jenna ihre gesponsorten Inhalte als solche klar und deutlich. Außerdem erzeugt sie Kapitel, so dass jeder, dem die "Werbung" nicht passt, diese ohne jeglichen Aufwand überspringen kann. Und letztlich: die "Werbung" beginnt bei 07:11 in einem Video, das 11:27 lang ist. Ich verzichte in diesem Fall mal auf das Vorrechnen und lasse das so stehen.
