Thanks for watching! I hope this video doesn't come across as overly negative or talk you out of opening a shop of some kind! My own experience was not ideal, as I mention in the video, so my advice is very cautionary. But I AM glad that I started when I did, even if it wasn't perfect. So do whatever feels right for you :)

Just found you and I’m really happy that I have! I’ve loved your two videos on selling art (I make handmade journals and am just about to start selling them) and would love to see more of those types of videos (now I’m off to watch all your other videos!)

Thank you so much! Handmade journals sound lovely 😊 I definitely have a few more videos planned for this topic but they just take me ages to make and edit, haha

One thing I must mention. I think there is something not quite right about the sound. I have everything turned all the way up (so much so that I must turn it down during commercials, and Finally put on the closed captions. It sounds muffled. This may be something you want to be aware of because if other people are having the same problem as me, they may not watch the video.

Thank you so much for this helpful feedback! I've just started learning more about recording audio and have been on the fence about if I should look into using additional software or something to improve my sound quality. I will definitely work on fixing this asap! 😊😊😊

I actually really like the sound, and think a lot of people who will watch your videos will. You have a lovely, calming - verging on ASMR voice.

Excellent video. It gives me encouragement. I started to be able to really focus on making art a bit later in life, and want to make things that sell so that I can continue to do this thing I love but frankly I have to put in more time. At least my engagement is gradually going up on Instagram, and when I looked back at my art from two years ago and even 1 year ago, I can see that I am improving, it just takes time!
@M3lart4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Susan! I'm so happy that it's encouraging for you. Pursuing art a little later is better than never and it sounds like you've got a good idea of where you're at and what you're doing. It's great that you're seeing improvement and making progress with social media engagement! Keep up the good work😊

As much as your video helped me understand the journey of selling art I must say it made me even more aware of how important it is to be passionate about whatever you make. The paintings that you made in this video were mesmerizing and beyond beautiful... Wish you even more success in this new year! lots of love!

This video was very helpful, with something like art its so hard to judge whether you're ready to sell. This presented some really interesting points, like the one about people saying they would buy a print of a certain design. Would love to know more about your personal journey through it all. Also omg those paintings were all mindblowingly stunning you deserve more hype gorl!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the paintings :) I've been planning to do a video that talks more about my personal journey of selling my art and all of that! Just need to find time to do it

about the consistency in art style, what if you're entire marketing system is about doing personalized art depending on which style the customer wants? I am posting various different art styles that I can do and letting the customer pick which one they like best. whats your opinion on this? 😊

Thank you so much for this video. I used to have a shop on etsy but never knew how to promote myself and I eventually closed it down - considering opening another shop again so this video came at the right time! 🎨💙

Glad it was useful! I'm actually on my second etsy shop attempt (tried back in 2013 or so with homemade earrings and sold nothing). It's definitely going better this time around 😊

Great advice, thank you for sharing! I have a lot of commissions and I was thinking if I should start selling my prints as well. I might try the print on the demand sites. I've heard of Red Bubble before but never actually checked it. Also, I'd like to say I love listening to your voice. It's very soft and calming ^^ My voice sounds like I'm a cartoon or anime character. But instead of cute, it's annoying.
@M3lart3 жыл бұрын
Redbubble is cool, you just have to work hard to promote it yourself because they put new accounts on the last page of results when people search for things. And thanks 😊 I used to think I sounded weird. I think sounding like an anime or cartoon character is kind of awesome because someone got paid to do those voices! And your voice isn't annoying at all ❤

I really enjoy your videos, thank you for this! I’m glad I found you. I completely agree about the social media algorithm. The hashtag block because of the elections really hurt my page. It made me so mad, but it’s normal now. I’ve been planning to open a store, but I think it’s smarter to just promote myself and build a fan base!

Do you think people buy more prints.i opened my Etsy shop but got only 16 art work there,all originals but no sales.i want to take a new photos and add more but atmo can't do prints
@M3lart3 жыл бұрын
Just from my experience, people do seem more likely to buy prints. But that doesn't mean you have to sell them! I've seen lots of shops that only sell originals and they do well. Usually, those shops have at least 100 original paintings available though. People like to have lots of options, so you could make a lot of small and simple originals that you can make quickly. Or make some originals that come in a set of 2 or 3 matching pictures :)
