I started a little earlier than the new year but I’m currently on day 13 of NO skin picking! My first goal was two weeks and I plan to shoot for 30 once day 14 gets here. It’s been one of the hardest things for me to quit because squeezing blackheads makes me unbelievably satisfied. Wishing everyone luck on their skin goals ❤

I pick when I’m anxious 😅 since I got married recently let’s just say my skin isn’t in the best condition.. this is my goal too! I have to convince myself that is okay to have some oil in your pores.

@@Miniblonde-4244I've been told that keeping your nails short, and/or keeping product on them that keeps the edges less "sharp" helps!

Such a difficult one! It's very impressive that you can just "quit cold turkey." 😂 Good for YOU.🎉 That's pretty Amazing. Especially if you don't always do it consciously. 😅 Its been a long journey for me, lol. Definitely cant "just quit." Had to incorporate several new habits to break the bad one! I am pretty good about not picking during the day, but if I'm half asleep, I'll wake up and realize I put a hole in the side of my neck because of a tiny bump that was really nothing in all reality 🤦‍♀️ I still have hyperpigmentation from that one! And I usually don't get hyperpigmentation 😂 I started working on my texture because of this, and it's the only thing that has helped, though it is a JOURNEY! I started using something w Retinol and Urea for texture/ hydration/ exfoliation. That's the gold bond body Retinol. I was using it intermittently before, but now I got to where I can convince myself to use it almost every night! For some reason, this 1 step feels like a much bigger commitment to me than my multi step face routine 😂 I had to shift my eating habits and start remembering to rinse and lotion after an early dinner, but *before* chill down time. Not picking seems like a small thing, but it's easily underestimated how many little things can trigger it, and how many tiny changes you may need to incorporate to succeed. The little things can really have a huge change. Massive accomplishment! ! Good luck on your skincare journey this year! ✨️

@@Miniblonde-4244 it is sooooo hard. Hardest thing I’ve tried to quit because I’m the same, something made me sad? Try and find some blackheads to cheer me up. Anxious? Probably should go pick. Happy? Well I of course deserve to watch a blackhead come out or pop a zit. I obsess over it and I read somewhere that when you pop a pimple and see the result, dopamine is released. Not sure if that is fact but it really does make sense why it’s sooooo adddictive. I made a deal with my partner that if I made it to 14 days then he would give me a really good back massage. It helps not wanting to disappoint him. Unsure whether or not it’s helping because now I see more blackheads than ever and I had a stress pimple flare up which has been HARD not to pop those succulent ready to go whiteheads lol. We’ll see if it helps the amount of acne I get after I go for a longer stint. If this is your goal, you got this!

YES! I forgot about some of these. Im going to share a few more that I forget about when things get a little crazy. But remember! The most *important* thing is to maintain your BASIC routine. Have a baseline. If you feel up to extra, do extra! If you don't, that's 100% okay. Its much better to have a basic routine to fall back on, than to be too exhausted mentally & physically for everything you'd like to do. I have to remember this one. Just because I'm *excited* for everything I want to incorporate, doesn't mean it has to be all or nothing. Brush, Wash, Lotion, SPF in AM. If you're doing these things, you're doing this, youre succeeding. I started keeping basics near the bed, so if I'm tired I can stand to wash up, and lotion etc laying down. Its very relaxing. On that note: TARGET your CONCERN. Its easy to get excited and add extra steps. But make sure your targeted concern is a part of your Basics Routine; that helped me a lot. I'm excited about my Copper Peptides, but they don't target my concern. So they can wait when I'm exhausted. 😂 Get a humidifier, and clean it often. I just got one; it made a massive difference in my skin!Wash your TOWELS. Use a different towel for your face, and wash it after 2 uses (bacteria starts to grow afterwards). Don't forget hand towels in bathrooms and kitchens, especially if they're in a humid environment/ commonly used. Remember, you touch your face with those hands! On that note, if you forget to wash your hands before washing your face, applying lotion/SPF/makeup (assuming you're cleaning your makeup brushes weekly 😉) remember those too! 😃 Lotion your body and FEET, too! I had to start keeping lotion and socks/ slippers next to the tub AND my bed, because I'm so bad about this one and simply cant be bothered 🤦‍♀️ I use the Gold Bond with Retinol for my body, so I just put it on my feet too! It's not only handy, but has lots of urea and doesn't feel greasy! On that note: don't forget retinol on your hands! They'll clue people into your age 😅 And don't forget your decolletage! I recently started slipping any excess product from my face down to my neck, chest.. and lower chest 😅 Makes a huge difference! This INCLUDES SUNSCREEN. *However*, remember, your neck cannot handle retinoids like anywhere else on your body. Ive been doing the gold bond Retinol 😂 It hasn't bothered me once. (Seriously, that lotion is a 1-stop shop! Hydrates, the Urea content can exfoliate & does on me, PLUS a Retinol?!) If you were to add 1 thing to your body care, assuming that SPF is already a part of your body care, this product hits so many concerns. Works best after a shower for me! But if youre sensitive to Retinol, maybe start with dry clean skin. 😊 SLEEP! Dr Dray is 100% right about the screens. I have a hard time putting the phone down, so I leave sound on and turn the screen off. You can also dim it, and use eye comfort. I was told that the body learns cues when you walk in a room, smell something, or the light has changed. So I try to take full advantage of that hard-wiring! I use a soft warm light bulb wax melter when I come into the bedroom to start my routine. The lighting changes, eventually it emits my lovely nighttime wax aroma.. and my brain shifts gears. For me, its a great night light, too. Some people like pillow sprays for that smell.. whatever works for you! If the brain is going to trick us, may as well take advantage! Note: for me, it's difficult to ignore stressful texts. Or even the little icon if my phone is on do not disturb. Im fortunate to have a 2nd device to hop onto in order to help my impulse. Whatever way possible, set positive boundaries for yourself. Dr Dray is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about sleep and health. I notice a huge difference when I incorporate these habits or not. Find something that works for you. And if you can't, thats an excellent reason to go see a provider, and establish a relationship with a provider if you don't already have one. Its not a stupid reason to set up an appointment; any decent physician appreciates their patients engaging in their own care.🥰 And once you've seen a provider, its that much easier to ask for help when you need it. If you can't, I highly suggest finding a provider that you *are* comfortable asking for help. It has made a massive difference for me. I think everyone can benefit from that! ❤ I hope at least one of those thoughts helps someone. If you have any suggestions, please share!! I could always use more tips in my arsenal 😂 THANK YOU DR DRAY! I didn't know how much i needed this. Sometimes the most important changes are the small ones, not necessarily the grand ideas that can be overwhelming. I needed that gentle nudge, and now I feel excited. 🥰

As far as when something expires.....you could put a little notation on the bottle or whatever the product comes in....a fine point permanent marker would come in handy here....the date you open the product could be written on it. I've done this & it's so helpful ! Thank you, Andrea, for excellent videos all year long. They're always enjoyable. It's fun shopping w/you ! And we benefit from your knowledge & training.

When I have a new mascara that is opened, I mark it down on my calendar - I buy a new mascara after 3 months. Take care everyone 🌹

That PAO (Period After Opening) number is a real thing, so glad you addressed it! I've totally noticed a difference between how my face reacts to a product when I first get it and how it reacts a number of months later. One product that I really like, Eucerin's Q10, is great at first, but I can't really use it fast enough. Because even using it consistently once a day, after a certain amount of time (haven't kept notes on how long) it starts causing an allergic reaction where my eyes won't stop watering. I have alleviated the issue by not using it around my eyes, because I still really like the product on my skin, but when I get a new jar I don't have to worry about it as there is no reaction yet. I also had an experience with a vitamin C serum that went bad, but it's been so long I forget the details. So glad to know of the PAO code I can look for. Thank you for all your excellent info!!!

I'm not going to lie, I do love skin care and I tend to stock pile it when there's a sale. Plus I sometimes just by skin care as retail therapy. I am really good about all the skin goals except using a product up soon after opening. But I will try to keep a better eye on it in the future, I will use the older products on my neck or chest or other less sensitive parts of my body.
@irisk934
@irisk934 9 ай бұрын
I also stockpile sunscreens but I am very good about the dates. The little expiration dates are so hard to see sometimes, so I take a sharpie and write it across the box or the actual tube immediately after purchase and then put it in my skin care pile. That's a tip if you also tend to hoard skin care like me, just write down on the actual box which one to use next so you don't mistakenly have a product expire on you
@AutumnElaine
@AutumnElaine 9 ай бұрын
I STOCKPILE, TOO! Sales are the best. If I understand right, DAO is Date After *Opening*, so you can stockpile as long as you don't open it! 🤩 Plus honestly running out of something can really screw my skin up.. I try to make sure I have at least 1 more on hand if I'm half way through it. I sometimes have less than I thought. Last night I completely ran out of my most essential staple item. Luckily, not only was it on sale, but Amazon got it to me this morning! That never happens! 😂 The most important rule is to DO WHAT WORKS FOR *YOU*! I say Stockpile away! Lol, or at least I will be 😂 Good luck this year with your goals! ✨️

I was only getting 4-5 hours of sleep at night which I know is horrible and I would have trouble getting up and was feeling so exhausted. Best thing I could have done! I still read before going to sleep but I'm going to bed much earlier because of shutting everything off. It's been hard to do since I find myself going down the KZbin rabbit hole but so worth it. I will certainly incorporate the last one no matter what ❤. Because today i visited my doctor because my big toe nail was hurting me like a stinging sensation and he said paronychia but not severe it hadn't form pus or any fluid whatsoever. The treatment was foot baths with iodine povidone scrub and fucidin cream topically till the redness and uncomfortable sensation subsidies. But the thing that told me is to moisturize my feet in order to prevent that from happening again😊. So Doctor Andrea it is already in my top to do list of things i will do in order to make my lifestyle even better 😊❤👍.

@@AutumnElaine Omg yes moisturizing lotions or cream with concetration in urea are great for dry and flaky skin. Since Urea 10% and above has both moisturizing and keratolytic properties 😊💗. As for the hands i believe they do work as well if the hands are dry and flaky. But 5% hand cream by eucerin is Goood 😍.

I would like to go to a professional makeup artist and get my face and hair done No money now later maybe? I am using bakuchiol as I am in my 70s As far as I know to use something stronger for me anyway would be self-defeating I also use a rather mild peptide cream also They both seem to work pretty well and improving the way I look

I go for the sample size mascaras due to the low PAO numbers, I don't wear it daily and I don't want to let a whole expensive tube go bad. I didn't know people didn't take it into account for skincare.

hey dr dray, i have been watching you for years and have learned so much from your videos. thank you. i have been suffering from folliculitis for about 8 months now and i have tried everything that my derm has told me to try - spyronolactone/doxycycline/mupiricon/clindimyacin. i haven’t shaved my legs in at least 4 months now and i am not the kind of person who is ok with that. legs/bikini/around the areolas/inside my nostrils/in my eyebrows/and inside the outer part of my ear and periodically crops up on my scalp. legs&bikini hairs are super deeply embedded. i exfoliate as much as possible and don’t reuse washcloths/change pillowcases every couple of days. if i don’t shampoo everydaywith benzoyl peroxide or a shampoo with salicylic acid, it crops back up and my hair is fried. my derm tried to get laser hair covered by insurance and they denied. if, by chance, you read all of that and have any suggestions i would really appreciate it.

try ketoconazole shampoo, leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. same with 2% sulfur soap. if you can tolerate it, ketoconazole ointment.

Love your channel! Can you review 'Hand Medic" by Gojo? I used it at work and it litterally heals your skin overnight but I wonder about the safely of the ingredients. Is this something we should use often and is it ok to use elsewhere besides just your hands? Thanks!

For me it will be to gentle with my face washing (i.e. don't wash too hard) and to not overrub my facial moisturiser into skin as most will be absorbed into my fingers.

Nothing goes to waste with me. Anything that irritates my skin. I have had issues with vitamin C serum. Then I use it on my hands, arms specifically elbows and knees. I know it can help skin that is not so sensitive. I also do the same if a product is getting close to the use by date.

Dr. D have been enjoying your channel for several years. Thank you! I was wondering if you could do a review of the Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty? The infomercial has been around for years and noticed it this morning. The claims seem between likely to I don’t think so. They go to a growing field in France with a touted Dr. Who reportedly has treated Cindy for decades. I was hoping you could look at the ingredients specifically in the youth active melon serum. I recognize some and I see it has fragrance which I know can be an irritating. Have a wonderful safe and happy new year!

Merry Christmas Dr. Dray! 🎄🥳 I just wanna asked can I used a moisturizer that has 3.5% urea, ceramides and oats in gel form moisturizer together with Skinoren (Azelaic acid cream) in the same routine specifically at night? Btw, I have oily sensitive (mild rosacea) acne prone skin. Please notice me 🙏🏻🫂 Thank you so much 🥹🫂🙏🏻
