I have almost all the smart devices and have integrated them into my lifestyle, except the smart lock. I bought a smart lock years ago and removed it after a year. I did not get any benefit from the lock and I did not like the fact that it used a lot of batteries. Also, the unit didn’t give any advance warnings about low battery and the batteries would always go dead on a rainy day when my wife was trying to get into the house. I went back to regular locks and don’t miss the smart lock.

Perfect timing Shane. I just bought a house! Finally!!! I had thought it would only have a sliding door, and it does have 2 of those, but there’s also a regular front door which I’ll use as my main entrance just as soon as I get some new steps built to the verandah. So tossing up between the Encode plus and the Aqara for there. I think the Encode plus will suit the house better, but it will come down to features. I’m now thinking maybe the Switchbot lock could potentially work on the sliding doors too…

There are plenty that are Alexa compatible. You don't even need an Alexa device, just the free app on your phone. The whole setup is free after you buy the lock.

No, the current SwitchBot lock does not support Home Key.

Shane so what would work if you have a iron security door before getting to that main house door each door has two locks.

I use a lever lock on the security door and a deadbolt lock on the inner door. Only one lock on each. An automation for the first lock to automatically unlock the second one.

We use Encodes on our rentals but got the Encode plus for our own home. Love the Homekit integration but the physical lock itself isn't as good as the regular Encode. You can't even see the numbers on the thing so people that aren't in your Home and are forced to use the keypad are confused. The original Encode the numbers were visible all the time and lit even better at night when you press the keypad.
