I had a 2005 Crovn Vic Police Interceptor. I was happy with it until it was stolen in 2014. I now have a 2009 Grand Marquis, and I am very happy with it unmodified. It doesn't hurt that I am a grandpa. However, I no longer have to worry about the car in front of me slowing down because he/she thinks I am a cop. I appreciate the extra luxury. I am also enjoying the V8 motor while I can, as it is an endangered species. Both are great cars. 🚓🚗

Yes the P71 is faster, but I still prefer the Grand Marquis. It's perfect for what I do most. Long road trips. It has softer suspension, more comfortable seats, tires with wider sidewalls, an automatic overdrive, and that wonderful 2.73 rear axle that lets you cruise at 65 mph just above idle. With the cruise control on 65 mph on fairly level roads, it will get 30+ MPG. Exactly what I want.

I bought a beat-up 2009 grand marquis with low mileage on it last year. Paint job was so screwed up by that point that we decided to just have some fun and paint it pink! Panther cars are amazing the most reliable and smoothest running cars you'll ever own and so much space. I have a 2004 Town car and it's the most comfortable and spacious car I ever owned. I thought about buying a Crown vic but I have a second car which is a Trans am for my need for speed once in a while and it flies but I still drive the Town car way more often. It's actually my second Town car I've owned the other got wrecked in two accident's and was still drivable when I sold it. If someone rear end me like that in my Trans am I probably wouldn't have survived the crash.. These panther cars are built like a tank.

I haven't looked at what gears I have but from what I understand should be the 3.27. I do know it's faster to 60 then my POS 01 Silverado with the 5.3 hell it tops out faster also. I guess I didn't clarify enough, I was thinking from acceleration not top speed making the Crown Vic Faster than the Grand Marquis, especially in an in-town chase. But yea the Marquis would have higher potential top speed than the Crown Vic. I'm curious if they had no speed limiters, would the air resistance/low hp cause the Grand Marquis to be faster because it has higher gearing potential or if the Crown Vic would be faster because it'll need the gearing to overcome the air and rolling resistance.
