@@scottskinner577 true, but then again the manual has been doing everything that the automatic has to be advanced to do (fast shift times, ability to hold a gear, downshift on demand, etc. The manuals only downfall is no automated drive gear, you have to use it, the main limitation is the operator's skill level. The automatics downfalls are reliability maintenance costs, weight, complex rebuild, expensive parts, etc. I'd much rather have a manual than even a DCT, CVT, or even a sequential for these reasons even though both are technically "faster" transmissions. I agree, unfortunately the impalas were FWD and unibody construction. The rwd, body on frame construction is what makes the crown vic soo easy to modify. Also unfortunately, the Impalas were limited in hp due to the fwd powertrain and chasis flex, it was way too front heavy. I've driven the Impala SS and thought it was difficult to drive it hard. The crown vic has a 49/51 weight distribution with most of the weight being low to the ground in the frame. If you removed the rear crap, these cars are ridiculously fun and easy to drive. The ironic thing is they weigh nearly the same.

@@expels simply put., 4 speed auto's are highly restrictive, shifts are automated given the lack of extra variation of gears to allow the engine quick access to the redline on pulls from a roll and to also maintain high top end power, and lastly, 4 speed auto's gears are extremely lengthy, and do now allow vehicles to stay within their reasonable power band...this is a well known concept across the boards thus the reason why manual's were always "said" to be quicker than auto's until recently when automakers began producing 6 to 10 speed auto's..now, this concept does not apply to the 10R80 transmission, and newer DCT and DSG transmission which are much more effective and are capable of shifts quicker than those of a manual but overall, comparing a vic with the naturally paired 4 speed auto to a 5 speed swap, the gap in acceleration times will un-arguably be at least 1.2 of a second in favor of the manual..you also gotta factor in that the Vic's are heavy vehicles and being able to keep it in its power-band is a tale of all tales...the lackluster 4 speed auto does not move out nowhere near to what i see in this video....i've driven a 4 speed VIC and they are they are extremely sluggish with 0 to 60 times close to 8.5 seconds..unlike the mustangs with the 4 speed auto's, these vehicles are extremely heavy, and need to stay within their power-bands as much as possible whereas the much lighter mustangs leave more lee-way for the 4 speeds to better keep them moving although the manual stangs are still much preppier than their automatic predecessors....i would like to know this posters times...im 100% sure he's cracking the mid 6 second mark judging by what i saw at the 0:12 pull....similar video with a swap involving a grand marquis...kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHXZZ4amZr1rf5I nearly 2 seconds faster than with the stock trans as expected, so there, even more than a 1.5 second gap...

Hell yeah, you made it even slower, dope!!! LOL jk.

Bro the stock transmissions in these things are slow af. They all came with a slow shifting auto 4 speed with a not so great gear ratio and a stupid ass column shifter. Most Trans swaps would be an upgrade lol

Never seen one manual. Thing sounds great. I used to have a marquis... miss it to death. My buddys neighbor had the marauder, hed wait til i was leaving to start it up just to troll me. Them things sounded so amazing.

Nice work. Ford, or SVT or whoever, actually did this before. Not sure if it was produced, but I remember the piece about it. And the *Marauder*
