What happened to the first horse, the one with the broken leg?
@sarahandbobedwards34452 жыл бұрын
@@katherineklevenow1808 Well his leg healed up (With almost no scarring) however his hoof is now misshaped.1 year after the show he was finally transported and ready to go to the USA,And landed someplace in FL.He then had to be shipped a little while in a trailer to the cites where we were going to pick him up but there trailer broke down 🙄so they had to delay that.Then when he finally got there 3 weeks later we went on a 5 hour road trip to pick him up.He still has all his training and moves very well,He does the piaffe/passage and other fancy movements,However he cant be around any mares since he still stud like.But overall he healed up pretty well.We bought him for 50k however after all the transporting,vet bills etc he was brought up by 61k.But now i am able to ride this horse since my mom never really bonded with him after all this ❤

I just got my first horse a couple of days ago! It wasn’t planned and she isn’t very rideable but she is already super attached to me. It doesn’t surprise me as she was left alone in a stall for three years. She wants to learn and is super bombproof until you get on her in which she gets scared. So I’m working on that with her and also taking care of her sore legs and lameness Edit: geez reading this back looks like I made it up. Man this is the first time I got to be the main character 😂

Okay so for my 1st and 2nd horse both mares, easy keepers. barley had to do anything but feed, muck and ride. 5 stages for my new horse, an ottb I got in March: Super excited when he came. Learned how to break out of stall in 5 minutes. Spent hundreds on trying to get him to stop cribbing, tried a couple different cribbing collars, they were expensive. Bridle $100+ stirrup leathers $100+ Saddle parents gave me🤷♀️ Doesnt fit him. Shoes 100$+ Rain rot: gave him a bath twice a day (spent about $100 on products. He came with rainrot) saddle pads $50 Feed: supplements: $100+ grain:$100+ Brushes..???😳 halters: $100+ (I have a halter obsession, I have 7+ for 2 horses. Don’t even use a halter on the other horse except when farrier comes LOL) Show fees: 100$ (ended up getting reared off and hurting my collar bone. Couldn’t move for the next couple weeks, My boss was mad) Hoof harder $50 for 8oz bottle. Once we took shoes off he came down lame for months and continuing up til this day. trainer said soreness, which turned into laminitis vet said but also said it’s very bad bruising and soreness. Finding random holes in the sole of his hoof, old abscesses. Old abscess turned into new abscess: soaking and wrapping his hoof every morning and evening. the farrier out about 3x a week, vet coming out at least every 2 weeks. and trainer costs 50$ Spent more than $1000+ in 2 days. Emergency vet call is like 100$+ including X-rays and pain killers and one thousand different things rounded off to about $600+ That day. including $100+ for boots for laminitis the next day. Was able to get the wrap off for his abscess in 7 mins. Can hardly walk and had to check on him almost every 30mins. I am now broke. I even have to get a new saddle and get his teeth done. Pros: the vet, farrier, trainer, family and friends have said that he has the sweetest personality of any ottb they’ve met. Including the place I bought him from. 😑 theres my life for the past months. Your welcome for that story.
@sidilicious113 жыл бұрын
OMG I feel for you! At least he has a sweet personality. I spent a ton of money on a custom saddle but was too lazy to use it a couple weeks ago, so I was bareback, he spooked and I fell off and I can’t walk right yet and won’t be able to ride or even do horse chores for weeks. Arg.

That was me when I was fifteen and my sister and I finally got the pony we'd worked and saved for. That same evening I was a complete wreck because I was exhausted from all the excitement and I'd suddenly realised the crushing weight of responsibility that I'd taken on. I was thrilled and terrified in equal measure I think! I could barely eat for days LOL.

When we solved one problem, my pony comes around with another. I'd spend hours and nights doubting my skills in riding and ownership. I was stressing myself out with the chores at my old barn. Spending a third of my paycheck for full services boarding as long as I can afford it is the best choice that I could've made to find back to each other, getting better training and reducing my stress level.
