The outrageous property taxes and housing costs started long before Georgia started getting anywhere near blue. In fact, what's not being spoken about is the blatant racism and classism. Have you not noticed all cities with high Asian populations are extremely expensive....even in Canada.....look at Toronto and Vancouver. @htfcm3 жыл бұрын
@@israeliana Well, because of that we’re seeing an exodus of people with great wealth leave and their employees leave with them. We’ve had the two recent exodus of Elon musk moving to Texas and Ellison left. The income taxes for those people leave, the wealth taxes never get collected and people who have great jobs who were paying taxes will move to new jobs in other states. So it cost the state a lot of money, also HP is moving to Texas, how many jobs are going to move out of Silicon Valley to Texas and they’re all high-paying jobs. Which means they’re all high paying taxpayers. Fewer wealthy people will want to move to California and we will see a huge net loss of wealthy people and jobs. The California resident who stays here, there’s gonna be less money for the state. When the wealthy person leaves, jobs leave, those are the people that are going to have to pay most of the taxes. A spectacular percentage of income tax paid in California are paid by the upper 1% it’s something like 50% so when they leave tax revenues go down and when tax revenues go down the ability of the state to fund itself declines.

Not true. Housing is a human right. How to buy housing is simply reading and educating oneself. The reason you state this is because typically, brown and black people are not treated equally when it comes to real estate literacy. I am an expert, self taught. Once you learn then you can help a nation execute their dreams and goals and create generational inheritance. Example: one would think Puerto Rican's are poor. However, 64% of PR are either land or homeowners. Possessions do not make us rich. "My richness is life, forever." - Bob Marley said this. The sisters and brothers in the islands understand true inheritance.

I relocated to Arizona from la in 2005....To me Tucson is smaller and better. You will get racism anywhere you go especially in Los Angeles but from lots of foreigners. Here in Arizona it’s mostly from whites who moved here from other states who now think they own the state when they aren’t originally from here. Don’t be afraid; just keep doing your thing and move around them and ignore them. Most of all the school systems... they will try to label your child with a learning disorder; or behavior problem....especially while women teachers....Covid is good because you can zoom school or hone school. Stay on it with your children here. I have never seen a black firefighter here but the white ones are nice. There are more foreigners moving here and they are being the racism too. Jyst don’t react to their stuff and keep camera on them. It goes seem to be getting worse but don’t react to them. Especially if they see you driving a nice car and look good. But it’s still not a bad place. Most people are cordial here...oh and also millennials here are a mess too...I still drive to la a lot to see parents....not a bad quick drive if you leave early in the morning...that being said.....don’t let racism scare you....take a chance like I did and you will be fine. Remember this is your country too....it’s our birthright to move around like our ancestors...most of them couldn’t build roots in one place because of racism and terrorist attacks and mob attacks back then....but we are still here and they hate that we are...but some land and property and keep it moving.....ignore ignore ignore them.

I moved to Phoenix from Chicago a few years back. I love it. Would NEVER go back to Chi-town. With that said, there are some "cultural" differences I picked up right away. In terms of food, Arizona sucks in that area. Even Mexican , Chinese and other Asian foods are not as good as what you'll fine in Chicago. While there are cultural events, the vibe is different. There is not a Chinatown or Little Italy in Arizona. And there is no "black" community in AZ. We are pretty spread out. I don't think that is a bad thing, just something I observed. Where as with Chi-town if you say South Side or West Side, there is an understanding that most of the residents are AA. The crime in AZ seems to be more domestic v. the gang violence you'll find in Chicago. There is a huge issue with human trafficking in AZ. I think AZ leads the nation in that regard. The housing market in AZ has increased ALOT. While still affordable than California, homeownership can be out of reach if you don't plan or don't have the resources. Rents are going up. For example, when I moved here, the base rent for my 1 bedroom apt was $775. Now if someone were to rent a one bedroom, you're looking at a base rent of $1,130 and all of this within the last 5 years.

Vashta, you nailed it. Well said. I lived in AZ for 8 years. You have to challenge yourself to adapt where your people are scarcely seen. At first, it felt like I was in a twilight zone. I enjoyed the weather and I met some decent people, both Hispanics and White. A lot of times , returning to work after the weekend, there was signs of abuse on coworkers. Domestication runs high and too many liquor outlets. I was a proud Black sister living in a different world, community and state. I'm Back home in Georgia and can appreciate the experience. Honestly....it makes me love my people; just wish that there was a Black decent community in AZ. We are a very beautiful and a strong race of people. Our skin shades are Beautiful and priceless. Hoping to return someday. The weather is amazing. Easy drive to Sedona, San Diego, and New Mexico. God bless 🥰❤

I used to live in Texas and it's true there is no state income tax, but beware the state makes up for that lost tax by taxing houses with pretty high real estate tax. The state gets their money they just take it in a different way. Most people can withstand this trade off in taxes just fine while working, but in retirement you are still hung with high real estate tax.

I live in Los Angeles and I don't plan on leaving again! I left in 2008 to go to Michigan and that was a terrible decision. Crime is def bad. I lived in a few great areas like Northville, Farmington Hills. I met some amazing ppl from Detroit and my church was there so I spent a lot of time there. So much poverty. I have also lived in Gilbert AZ (suburb of Phoenix) and that was a beautiful place. Chandler is great as well. Prior to both of those states I lived in Atlanta for 7 years basically straight out of high school. Atlanta also has high crime. I was robbed there one night after leaving a club. Nightlife and dating life was great. There is a high rate of HIV in Atlanta so if you move there, make sure you get your partner to take all STD test. I'm just saying b/c God had kept ME LOL. Anyway, prb needless to say that there is no place like L.A. for many reasons. I work in media/tech so I really could go anywhere but the job market here in L.A. for me is awesome, even with so many companies leaving. Interesting phenomenon. I can't say I'm surprised Black folk are leaving though. I've visited the LA/Long Beach area at least 4 times and never felt like it was a space that truly embraced or appreciated Black culture. I always felt "othered" in most parts of the city I visited. I went there for a frat reunion trip a few years back & every where we went, people kept asking if we were a basketball team. (da hell? Yall never seen groups of Black men in public? ) They asked us so much, we decided to just be the Milwaukee Bucks. lol. I also had a hard time finding a Black barbershop there and ended up letting an Asian cut my hair. Let's just say....never again. And on top of the city being overpriced and underwhelming in housing, quality of life, and cost of living...I remember leaving thinking...Well "Black is wack" out there. Who do they remain?" lol. Maybe it's just in pockets? I say come to Charlotte, NC! We will embrace with open arms!
