I hope everyone likes the video! I am confused though. Half of the comments say something about how skinny I am, and the other half are about how im on steroids. Do yall see a contradiction there?? So what is it then?

cailer Woolam you're actually a huge inspiration to me because of our similar body types. my arms almost touch my knees too, and I'm 18, weigh 160 and can deadlift a bit over 500 conventional but I don't look that big either. Call me crazy but my goal is 675 weighing less than 170

The dude squats over 500lbs too.. He's a freak. But it also shows the difference between type I and type II muscles in relation to overall mass vs strength.
@kblkbl
@kblkbl 7 жыл бұрын
"But it also shows the difference between type I and type II muscles in relation to overall mass vs strength." How is that so? Marathon runners use mainly type I fibers and have no hypertrophy at all. He's bursting 900lbs of the ground and has way less hypertrophy than basically all the other 900+lbs deadlifters. What's your point?
@irtheLeGiOn
@irtheLeGiOn 7 жыл бұрын
"He's bursting 900lbs of the ground and has way less hypertrophy than basically all the other 900+lbs deadlifters." That's my point. His type II % has to be off the scale. Hypertrophy has nothing to do with type 1 & 2 percentages. You're confusing Type1&2 with sarcoplasmic and myophibrilar.
@kblkbl
@kblkbl 7 жыл бұрын
You're forgetting the last bit of your reply: " But it also shows the difference between type I and type II muscles in relation to overall mass vs strength.'" What difference between type I and type II in relation to overall mass vs strength? If that was your point and the type of fiber has nothing to do with hypertrophy, what point was to be made relating the fibers to a relation of muscle mass vs strength?

the body english version carries over more to deadlift because you're basically hercing it up with your lower back and legs. Which will probably work great as explosive lower back and leg work at sub maximal deadlift weight with the eccentric overloaded, and if you have a bulletproof lower back, it will benefit you. The Ebonics version is a better lat exercise, and a safer exercise, but lats are a stabiliser and not a primary mover on the deadlift, so it's not going to have as much carry over. I'm guessing the exact same momentum style row movement with no elbow flexion would have a similar carry over, and you could probably do more of them since lat and arm fatigue would not be a limiting factor.

I disagree with the "if you can't deadlift it you shouldn't be shrugging it". Why wouldn't you want to shrug more weight than you can pickup off the ground to overload your traps?
@cailerwoolam
@cailerwoolam 7 жыл бұрын
PvP SAAAN the way you lock out from a rack is going to be different than the way you position yourself to lockout from as low block or from the floor. the more similar these shurggs can be to a deadlift lockout the better imo.
@TT6R80
@TT6R80 7 жыл бұрын
cailer Woolam I completely understand what you mean and where the dude is coming from but for me personally I'll set up it up like an above the knee rack pull and go upwards of 585 for shrugs even though I can't deadlift that, my deadlift is around 485-500. I just prefer to overload then do some back off sets with like 315 and 405
@ciscokidcspf
@ciscokidcspf 7 жыл бұрын
PvP SAAAN you do realize the dude from the video, is the guy that answered your question here, right? Also, he has a point, using less than you can max pull will allow you to build more hypertrophy within your max capacity
