For the multieq filter frequency range should I limit the subwoofer? I came across a video someone suggesting bringing it down from 250hz to 20hz so audyssey doesn’t “kill” the bass. Is this true at all?

@@Squishmallows24 Great question. You would only limit if you have used mini DSP or some other parametric eq to eq your sub or subs. If you haven’t already calibrated your subs then I don’t recommend limiting the audyssey freq range for your subs. By limiting you are defeating one of best features of Audyssey MultEQ XT which is subwoofer calibration. I say you try it out. Try limiting and if you find the bass to be more boomy and less focused or not as tight then let Audyssey do the full sub calibration.

@@magnoliamo thank you for replying. This has kinda been driving me crazy for a few weeks lol. The person that made the video about it never replied or even explained why he limited the subwoofer to 20hz from 250hz. Keeping the subs at the same db level and at the same master volume I felt like limiting the sub to 20hz the bass was less boomy. At 250hz there was more noticeable boom. Just one quick question if you can help. Does limiting the sub to 20hz in the app, will that still keep the 80 crossover I have set to all my speakers? Thank you!

@Squishmallows24 yes the crossover at 80 hz will still work.

So because of a fault, where my new denon avc x4800 forgot preset 2, I found out that my speakers sound a lot better without Audesy, atleast above 500hz. Also that the crosover is better when all are set at 80hz. Even tho Audesy recomended other crosovers. All settings were set at default settings, distance, crosovers, levels ect. And still it sounded better then with Audesy😵

Wow. I would agree that 80 hz for movies would sound better than the individual speaker crossover settings set by Audyssey. If you have matching midrange and tweeters all around then 80 hz will produce a nice balanced soundstage. I also limit the Audyssey room correction to below 500 hz. Thanks for the comment.

I was quite confused when I found out, and a bit annoyed. But on the bright side i learnt something after +15 years of owning Denon avc receivers. I do indeed own only KEF speakers in the bedlayer, and 2 svs hight speakers with a svs sb2000 sub. I also thougt about why I and my wife, who rarely cares about my hifi, would prefer no settings. So i raised the lvl of the hight and surround channels slightly by 1.5-2db. In the app, and the sub set to 0. Then i spent some time with music and lowered the gain -6 db. And now its very good.
