You don't need to spray or mow anything. Just wait until the afternoon when the plastic is really hot and it will stretch around the plants. We lift our plastic with full plants and then rotary hoe the whole lot into the ground.

Last year I tried that and the plastic mulch we use is 1.25 mil. Faily thick plastic, I don't think I'll stretch

@@farmerdre1 We use a thinner plastic at home, please stay away from that, because it doesn't just strech, it rips... every few yards the plastic rips and you cannot properly roll up the whole rows as you would like

It would be nice if the had a starch based mulch so it would naturally broke down in the sunshine .

It would but with Strawberries we plant in the fall, we don't harvest untill spring. It's 9 months from plant to harvest. Starch base or bio degradable will dissolve in a few months.

wish I could have seen you mow it so close. Thats one of our problems, on a slope is mowing closely so both sides are cut close. I suppose you go slow with a bush hog?

Yes. Less than 1 mph. Mowing is the most important. Closer you are to the plastic the easier I'll go

I absolutely hate plastic mulch. Only thing I'll ever use it for is strawberries. I've got little pieces of plastic all over my farm.
