If school kids saw you they would all wonder where you got that super power. You know, the ability to work. They've never seen it in real life themselves.

That was great to watch. It was a good detailed view of the whole laying process and your reasoning for pre forming the beds first makes great sense. Really enjoy watching your vlogs and so glad that I found your channel.

Make the beds, then go back with a tine cultivator or something that’ll lift up more soil in the middle rows, then go lay plastic. Helps lift the bed and add additional dirt on the sides so the discs have more dirt to better cover the plastic on the sides. Our soils are heavy clays in the mountains of NC.

I'd love to see a video of what you're describing because we have the same problem most of the time here in Pa. I don't know what a tine cultivator is. Is it a regular rototiller or is it a spring tine cultivator?

@@tombauder8489 really? Where in PA are you. We’ve got fairly heavy clay but I have never had to pre bed. Moldboard. Disc. Tiller. Bed

I preform my beds too with a disc hiller. I use a 55hp tractor with my rain flo which is a little under powered so preforming beds helps a lot. I also make the beds by myself so I focus on making a straight row when I preform, that way I can focus behind me on the mulch layer while I lay plastic. I also found a hydraulic top link is great for controling how much soil you drag with the plow.

99% of the free world is now trapped, pretty much permanently behind computer screens. Having the freedom to work with the dirt and sweat, beyond the gaze of a LED monitor is now a luxury. Finally - their end product - FRESH FOOD - will never go out of style. Your living the dream Farmer Dre!

I've spent many hours on the 2600. Here's some things that bit me as it aged and adjusted. You know those bolts on top that set the bed width? They can adjust themselve outward no matter how tight the bolts are. I jammed stuff in there to keep that from happening. The crowned bed pad and rollers looked nice, but I ripped off the rollers this year, not needed. What happens when they stop rolling is they pull the mulch and rip holes in it, not so bad if you remember to wd40 before laying, but it can happen any time. They also didn't have enough clearance on my model so the opening shoes would plug, push up the roller and also cause holes in the mulch. On thing I did this year, deep plow in the fall, let it rain, then set the 2600 to maximum engagement and throw up ugly beds, we have heavy clay. Let it rain again and in spring hit it with a roto tiller on the tractor and knock it level. The 2600 loves this. We still throw dirt on the top to withstand our 40 mph winds here. In our first year we laid out 5 acres of mulch running east west all on the same day, within two weeks it was blowing across the county.

Look at I and j cultivators, you can cultivate your wheel rows quickly and throw soil against the plastic to suppress weeds on the covered edge. They are affordable and work great.

It’s from a company called Rain-Flo irrigation in East Earl Pa. they changed the numbers 2670 is $5400, 2570 is 4975. There are various options to add to them. Should you be able to go with only 4 foot plastic and a 5 inch raised bed, a Nolts produce supplies layer costs $1675 and is sort of the poor farmers version. Dre’s has row track which keeps his rows much straighter even if he doesn’t drive straight.

Wish I could afford drip tape, but the prices for non commercial tape in the UK is really high. Its around £250 for less than 100 foot. So I am stuck having to water all my fruit and veg 2 or 3 times a day

Biodegradable is not worth it in my opinion. The price is almost double and it takes longer than I’d like for it to break down. I still find it in my fields the next year
