Just some constructive criticism from a big fan, I feel like you often repeat yourself and use the introduction of a weapon or listed item later in the description of it. This can get frustrating as you sometimes use the exact same phrase to describe something in the space of 2 mins. I think you could counteract this by saying the same thing with different words. I don’t want to come across as a hater because as I said I’m a massive fan and really love your channel.

25:00 it was mainly the cost in losing one. Aircraft carriers are very vulnerable to submarines and so any aircraft carrier would need a large escort to protect it. This would require even more resources and the British navy was already stretched thin.

One of the biggest misconceptions of WWII is that Maginot line didn't work. It did mostly as designed. The fact that the Germans went around was part of the plan. It funneled them mostly to the north into Belgium and Luxembourg. The French and the British were just caught with their pants down and lost any initiative it provided.

Another problem with the German railway guns not mentioned in this video is that the barrels of these guns experienced significant wear due to the enormous forces they had to endure. Gustav's barrel needed replacement after firing less than 50 rounds in combat, although it must be acknowledged that considerable stress had been placed on the gun during tests and training prior to deployment. Additionally, the guns could only be deployed in areas where the Germans had achieved air superiority.

the krummlauf was developed to help the crews of the two most useless tanks of all time: the porsche tiger and the maus (yes the maus was crap too (it was practicaly a enlarged porsche tiger)). and the u-boats where more under pressure due to the development of plane based radar, active sonar (the pingi thingy from the movies) and communication encription by the allies (look at the tech on board of a type XXI u-boat for this information (ok the type XXI still used the now useless enigma but the defense of this subs was crazy)).

Can I just go out on a limb here and say the first one was just too stupid to work? “If we could get this giant 10 mile by 10 mile mirror into space, we could win the war” Ok cool, meanwhile America has already completed the little boy in late 1944, could have had it in 1943, and has already started producing the delivery system. Many theorized weapons could have changed the war, it’s a matter of practicality and deployment, which the Nazi’s lacked absolutely. So saying it could have changed the war doesn’t mean much if the tech wasn’t there, and still isn’t here even after 75+ years

Thought id see some actual discussion in the comments not ppl just saying “hehe i like learnin thx” Anyway the sun gun seems pretty devastating but extremely expensive to make happen... also seems very vulnerable. The germans never went to space or had a program soo.. how would they do this at all. Its beyond a fairy tale- as for the roman sun death beem that melted ship sails... this seems incredible if true why havent we ever heard about this weapon before? Seeems useful for centuries after discovery
@adenkyramud50056 жыл бұрын
I guess, and this is only a theory Based of my understanding of German ideology in ww2 and logic thinking, that they wanted to win the war and then build the sun gun, conquer space and reach ultimate power. They already developed rockets, sent the first man-made object into space (v2 rocket was, as far as I know, the first man made object in space) and had really big plans for the time after the war. After the war, when they had won and everyone else was defeated, they would've had enough time to get a space program running and further advance technology developed during the war.
