1. strap no. 4 indeed works best, though it's super hard to find a similar (18mm but wider on the ends) in region so choosing a 22mm narrowing down strap and cutting it to fit was the best option 2. your demeanor and quirky non sequiturs works well with watches, keep it up amigo

I bought a 24mm grey NATO and cut in an 18mm waist with a hot knife. It fits the lugs and the strap comes out to the full width of the shoulders, which makes it look a lot beefier, and is a helluva lot lighter than the original bracelet. That looks good on the rubber, keep the Timex strap for the SNK809, it perfects the watch.

minitwatch I did the same with this and an F-91w. forums.watchuseek.com/f71/these-came-yesterday-3634826.html#post34186946 If you soak the strap in cold water you can cut clean with a hot knife, it just took a few goes to get the waist exactly the right length to sit up close to the shoulders. Probably look better with a black NATO for a more tactical look.

If you haven't yet, you aren't missing much. They definitely look better online than they do in person. I've had mine for around 1½year, but it hasn't had much wrist time yet. I have a feeling it isn't going to wear well and after regular use, as the silver paint wears, it's going to start showing the white plastic underneath. I knew going in that it was a plastic housing, but I didn't think it was going to look like it was, and that's probably why I wear my black version a lot more. When it was new, it looked more like the band, but just in the few times I've actually worn it, it's noticeably changed from its original color. The band still looks good, but the watch has an obvious light gray plastic appearance.

@Ray Patson You really can't go wrong with it, because the silver colored one is really tacky.. In the time since I posted my comment, the gray has worn off a little bit, mostly around the lug areas on the back, but fortunately nothing that's highly visible. I've made several modifications to it so it doesn't look so tacky, on a cheaply made folded metal bracelet. At least now it looks kinda like a sports watch. I put an $8 Walmart black resin band on it, I've removed all of the outside lettering, some of the lettering on the inside masking piece, I colored the number ring around the analog clock and the CASIO logo with a yellow highlighter to give them a glowing greenish yellowish tint, I installed a black BullBar for the DW-5600 G-Shock on it, and I think my final step is going to be to swap out the silver pushers for black ones. Maybe. Oh yeah... And the Walmart band came with a grayish buckle and tongue set, which I swapped out for a black set. I'm also thinking about inverting the display to negative, but that's a hell of a job from what I've seen, and something I could very easily screw up and be completely out, unless I decided to buy another one and start over. Yeah, I know... I spent way more time and money on this thing than it's worth, but it's a watch that was just lying around doing nothing, a complete waste really, but at least now it's in the rotation.

I have that watch and yes it would be interesting to experiment with different leather for it but the original bracelet is still by far the best for this watch. Lightweight, very comfortable and just the perfect match for this watch. Retrocool piece! Thumbs up specially for providing links to the straps, ordered a leather for a Seiko 5. I have a watch collection that sums up to 10,000 dollars. The same great feeling i get from my breitling on special occasions, my citizen promaster sky at the office, i get from this watch when i'm on a day off wearing a T-shirt, shorts and a hat.. It fits my outfit, lifestyle and the activities that i am doing and get lots of compliments on it. There is also a factor about cheap stainless steel digital watches, is that they make you look smart and interesting

Nice. For a strap be cool in this watch, you need a 24mm width on the head that tapers towards the tail. The original strap has side extensions to match the width of the case, once the pins space is 18mm. So you have to cut the strap's head to resembles the original.

Great video! I have the all black version and just ordered this one, with a leather strap. These look great on brown leather for some reason. I ordered a brown leather to put on it and give me some options. For under $20 on Amazon, these are great quartz pieces to add to a collection. The leather smell? I am right there with you. I have a Colareb strap and it has a great leather smell.

I’ve never really switched out bands for a watch. How do you know which straps will fit which? I hear you mention 17mm and other sizes. Is that the size of the spring bar or what are you referring to ? And how do you know it’ll fit this Casio?

18mm but if you go bigger need to cut around the lugs on both sides. I’m trying to figure out a way to use 22mm nato but cut the portion behind the watch and at the bars to 18. A 18 to 22 taper prob works.

I have both this one and the black/black one. With very little usage, the silver one has changed from its original color to a lighter gray color. Whatever paint they use on the silver-ish housing sucks. There's something I thought I'd never say about my favorite brand if watches; that something of theirs sucked. Anyway, I ended up switching the bands between the two and they actually both look better. You have to be kind of careful shopping for a band for a Casio. Most of the time they don't have any stepping from the lug size to the housing size, so you end up with an awkward looking combo. The only one you showed that didn't look out of place was the one that you said was for an Expedition. That one was an interesting combo. It would probably look just as good on a silvertoned AE-1000; maybe even better.

This is old. In 2024 you snag 18 to 22mm black or silver strap ‘extenders’ on AExp for a few bucks a set . Snag some 22mm straps. Do it they work great and look great. Got my 1200 on black nato sweet 🍻 cheers

I was almost happy you didn't like the perlon... As soon as that came on the screen, I was like, no, not feeling that.... The girlfriend advice was much appreciated though, thanks for that.... Just force it in... Hold on, I'm writing that down.... That being said, I do think a Bond Nato or some kind of black nato would work.... I did like the Timex. It matched the lines of the watch perfectly.... So perfect. I almost wonder what would happen if you took a 21mm nato and made a couple relief cuts in it.... I have been very pleased with Clockwork Synergy and Hadley Roma. Those are good choices. I have no idea how this might work out, but you could try rubbing some black shoe polish into the Timex brown.... Anyways, sorry to hear about your job.... Awhile ago I had to move 300 miles, to keep my job, and now I'm stuck buried in snow in the north woods.... I'm too close to my pension, I can't walk out, so...
