The last for me is when you feel gaslighted by them. I discovered that controlling people are only good with you when you do what they want but treats you poorly when you stop behaving the way they want hence you will feel like walking on eggshells with them.

Control freaks are impossible to stand long-term. They just drain your life out of you. Extremely toxic to bond with, sadly. I have been there and hope to heal from the effects of those relationships some day. It is often so difficult to deal with the CPTSD triggers and dysregulation.

My brother started on me after finding out I got very sick and did not tell him. It is complicated but I told him to much thinking he really wanted to know because he cared. He told me terrible things that were hurtful. I told him to stop treating me that way and he said it was my fault. Anything I did was wrong even when I did what he asked me to. If it was not for the fact that this mostly was being texted I would not believe my own memory. I kept all of the text for my own protection. I do not communicate with my brother and he claims he doesn’t understand why. He even pulled my mother into it. I have been learning about narcissism and he is one. I talked to my mom so she would not get hurt or used by my brother. I do not think she understands I am stuck with my brother but I do not have to take his crap. Everyone be good to yourself no one is worth the pain.

Not to diminish this in any way, but I’d like to think that of all the negative types out there, these would easily be the clearest to figure out and not too difficult to call out. Also their attempts at control can be ignored and just not listened to. Of course the Love is blind cliche falls right in, therefore requiring some help to identify, and then a shoulder to lean on if they’re able to get out and let go completely. I can’t say that I’ve ever been with one, nor can I say that I haven’t. I may have simply ignored their attempts and caused a breakup. But perhaps that’s why it seems to minimal to me personally. For those of you out there who are just realizing this is your situation, please listen when you’re told, People like that, never change! Your only saving grace is a 100% cut off. Ghosting them.

It is simple when you have a strong self concept. I did not know what was going on at first and it was very confusing. My brother and I were not always close but I never thought he would go out of his way to be hurtful. I now have a zero contact with him and promised myself I would only communicate with him except if my mother was in need.

Ok, here's the scenario: Woman drives her man home, she's in front of his house, and he's refusing to get out. She doesn't want to argue, she just wants to go home, but he just wants to continue their argument. The next day, on the phone, she hangs up on him because he's just arguing, and she doesn't want to hear it. He calls her back, tells her she's childish for hanging up, so she calls him childish for not getting out of the car yesterday. He says those are two completely different scenarios, she says they both have him wanting to continue an argument and her just wanting some peace, in common. So, in that scenario, is the guy a control freak?

I think this is why I gave up on dating...i can't seem to get myself in the right environment for meeting the right ones....I get sick of dealing with fake people....guys would bug me to go out with them and then within the first week of dating,they are lecturing me about how many things📝 I need to change about myself🙄....🤷why the hell was you attracted to me in the first place then?
