I bought a pair of Calla’s black leather trainers at the end of last year. I appreciate that they are expensive but I have worn them non-stop since February (including a week pounding the streets of Rome) and cannot recommend them enough. They are extremely comfortable (padded inside), stylish and hard-wearing. My first pair of trainers from them but will not be my last.

I love ballet flats. I buy cheap ones to wear around the house instead of slippers and I buy good quality ones with proper support for going out. I have house shoes in several different colours so I can co--ordinate them with what I am wearing. Like you, I am not fond of trainers, especially as I have large feet (UK 8), but I did buy a pair of plain white ones this summer and they are very comfortable when walking to the shops etc. Mine have zips either side of the laces, which makes them very easy to get on and off.

Gemma, I love your style! Nothing beats a classic, classy look. However, we all have individual preferences. I don't care for ballet flats or any kind of animal print. As an American, I did not know that sneakers are called trainers in the UK! In fact, trainers are the only shoe I own in red. I adore loafers, mules, sleek sandals and anything in neutral colors and low heels. I just subscribed and will be watching your videos faithfully. May your summer warm up!

For ballet flats and feminine almond toe loafers, I cannot recommend Ukies enough! I bought a pair while thrifting and was blown away by the construction and Italian leather and now it’s a go to brand for me that is squarely mid-range.

Vionic makes great ballet flats that have arch support. I wear a round toe in there flats but they have a pointed toe also. Check That brand out. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it I’ve had their shoes for years…🇺🇸

It’s important to support the arches of your feet. Young athletes and anyone who’s had plantar fasciitis can attest to this fact. Even eople w/ flat feet need support.🦶 Adore the ballet flats.

I love a feminine all white sneaker like those with skirts and dresses. I sadly had to throw away a pair of red ballerina flats. I wore them with all kinds of outfits and would get compliments all the time. I was so sad.

Trainers are good for my Willy walks, and I wear them with the odd skirt. Sketchers are my faves (much to the horror of my sons) Great video xx 😘

Great video but I can’t wear these. I have different feet as I’ve had a total ankle replacement due to an accident. I need some underfoot protection and the shoe toe needs to come over onto midline on top to give me flexing help when walking. This is so frustrating when dressing.

I may be showing my advanced age, but when I was a child growing up in the very hot Deep South in the United states, it was very common for females of all ages to go bare-legged and wear loafers in the summer. Along with sandals, loafers with no hosiery were the go-to footwear worn with all casual outfits from shorts and rompers to dresses and jeans. Looking back on it, it seems strange, and everybody had sweaty feet but it's what everybody wore.

I have an unlined beige linen blazer that I can wear over a tank in the summer heat. It was from Free People, but a long time ago. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen many recently. A white linen jacket, slightly more casual than a blazer, might be available somewhere?🙂

This is my issue too- I just hate going barefoot in a shoe, except a boat shoe maybe. Ballet flats look silly with hosiery so I end up tanning my legs and hoping I don't get cancer. My go-to shoe for summer ends up being Gaimo espadrilles, which are worth every penny of their 100 euro price!

I just call it good old “Coastal”, it is ageless, being a granny has little to do with it, except that Diane Keaton’s look was one of the inspirations.

I think this is the ugliest decade for shoes. I like a classic loafer, heels and a wedge saddle. I do have a pair of trainers but I think they look so unattractive with a dress or skirt. I suffer from planter fasciitis so wearing flip flops cause immense pain so need a little arch support. Always appreciate your advice. 😘
