They tried to put me on Ozempic for blood sugar control and I said nope. You also have to watch for medications like Metformin, Victoza, and Trulucity because those can do the same plus gas and bloating which can feel trapped and make one feel full, pain, vomiting etc. Metformin ER is easier on the body as for side effects but when I took with insulin and non insulin injectables, I was very sick from that. Some people I reckon csn tolerate but not everyone.

I’ve been on Wegovy for nine months and it’s changed my life! It’s improved my health in so many ways. I’ve lost 38 pounds and work out now 3-4 times weekly. I’ve lost no muscle mass because I knew I start lifting weights. I’m 56 so I needed to be lifting anyway. I love it and have not felt this good in years! Thankfully I’ve had few side effects. And bonus: it’s stopped all cravings for alcohol.

@@kids.cats.crazy.are you worried about when you stop? Decades ago I took an appetite suppressant. I didn’t know about lowering your metabolism and all that. I was only 15. So I was really upset when I gained the weight back even though I was still being careful. I lost weight again later and stayed thin until I had my daughter. Now i’m in my 50’s. One of the things that makes me not want to try this is that you have to take it forever or you’ll gain the weight back.

I am on Ozempic for diabetes. I have lost 24 pounds so far, which is nice. I'll take it, but it's not why I'm taking it. I have always had a problem with sugar. Not just blood sugar, but my sugar cravings were out of control. I could not stop myself from binging on sugar a few times a month. It was the #1 reason I couldn't control my weight. What Ozempic is doing for me is making me feel "normal" when it comes to food. I may have had a binge eating disorder or something really wrong with the way my body wanted sugar all the time. Maybe that has something to do with the diabetes or the diabetes had something to do with that. I don't know. But now I don't need that sugar anymore and I can eat food like a normal person.

I am so happy for your fantastic results! I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder and had great results with therapy. She happened to be an addiction specialist and taught me about mitigation of harm. I binged on healthier foods for awhile and at least they didn't make me sick. Now I'm able to manage my diet and cravings because I learned about healthier coping skills I didn't know I was missing. I can have a treat without it turning into a binge. I do still have to limit my carbs (I lost weight with keto) or I start to get bloated and anxious and have cravings. I think my body just doesn't handle sugar well. Anyway I didn't mean to write an essay here but maybe if you don't want to be on the med forever, or had to go off it, I bet those healthy coping skills would be a lot easier to learn when you're not also fighting demons. 💪💜

I went on it for my sugar and had a massive sweet tooth as well (it was from the diabetes). I used to just eat a pint of ice cream a day, be under 1,000 calories and think it was fine. I've got ice cream in my fridge from a month ago that I haven't touched now lol. I've been on it about a year and a half and my A1c is perfect, my blood work is great for the first time (I also discovered I have celiacs disease and cut all gluten out, which was easier with ozempic because no more craving cookies or sweet pastries). I was 224 when I started and now I'm 142. I'm happy I lost weight, I've been over 160 since I was 11 and diagnosed with pcos and insulin resistance, but I went on it because I had been on metformin for 20 years and still became diabetic. I'm 39 and it's so bizarre not to crave sweets for the first time in my life. I've never been a binge eater, but what I did eat was always sugary. I loved salads, chicken breast, veggies, but had to have a sweet after eating it.

@@pizzazzincorporated4583I think it’s worth it too. Ozempic is a cardio-protective drug which generally helps lower cardiovascular risks associated with heart attacks and stroke. I am sorry for what happened to your sister...but it is likely a separate event, and unrelated to her taking the Ozempic. Being overweight often is related to an unhealthy lifestyle, which was more likely to have been the major contributing factor in what occurred. Genetics can often play a key role. As a health professional, I would be surprised if the Ozempic was actually the cause. Sometimes people can be too quick to lay blame...it makes it easier to want to blame the drug rather to have to accept responsibility for making poor life choices. I sincerely hope that time will help your sister to rehabilitate and be able to regain some of what she has lost in function and life quality. Strokes are very difficult to deal with...but with hard work it is possible to have some improvements. I wish you all the best with her recovery.

Saxenda not only did the diet stuff (got rid of food noise and cravings, causing weight loss), it helped with my hoarding tendencies, depression, and my driving phobias (fear of running off the road, fear of bridges and ditches). For the first time in decades, I was thinking clearly, aware of my surroundings, able to concentrate on tasks, and did not need reminders to take care of things. I've been off it about 6 months, and my brain feels like an old lady again - blanking out in the middle of conversations, forgetting why I entered a room, searching long moments for words and names. I was only able to get the drug about a year, and I had only been on it about 3 months when I noticed how life changing the mental health benefits were, and those, more than the weight help, is why I continued to pay out of pocket for it as long as I did. I hope more studies are done on the many benefits this medicine has and it becomes more available!

I was on the minimum dose of Ozempic for a year for my type 2 diabetes, and it was amazing for my A1C. I lost about 25-30 pounds, mostly due to the drug relieving the compulsive nature of my eating. I can see why people would be on it for life because I still had to deal with my habits and thought processes - I may not compulsively super-size my value meals anymore, but I still was choosing to eat fast food over cooking when I was feeling stressed out. My doctor back in October moved me to the next level up on Ozempic, and this has been a pretty significant change. I'm finding that I am pretty consistently eating about 1,000 calories less than being on the minimum dose, which is about 1,500-2,000 calories less than before taking the drug. I'm now down to the lowest weight I've been in over a decade, and starting to be motivated to eat better and exercise, and I'm enjoying the process as well as the results. My goal is to change my lifestyle enough that I can not only get to a healthy weight but make the maintenance of that weight sustainable and get off all of the meds that my diabetes brought into my life. (16 more pounds down since October, 66 pounds to goal!)

Every drug over the past 50 or 60 years that helps with weight loss, has been touted as the latest and great thing since sliced bread. If you want to be honest in your review, and I am sure that you do, then you need to cover the injuries this medication has allegedly caused. While I respect your opinion, I also respect the countless opinions of patients who were allegedly injured by this medication. In my opinion, telling only half the truth is misleading.

For the vast majority of people who take these meds under medical supervision, the benefits outweigh the risks. There will always be people who have unfortunate side-effects and/or complications. That's true of every drug, even aspirin. These are powerful medicines that need a prescription. It's important to follow the dosage instructions carefully, and if there is a bad reaction report to your doctor immediately. People make the mistake of thinking they know better than the manufacturer and take more than they should, or ignore negative symptoms until they're severe.

I’ve been watching this medicine since it got popular because i’m curious but dr youn not mentioning the controversy and law suits due to this medication is concerning. And is it just me or does it look like the comments are being moderated. Waaaay too many testimonials and I have yet to see discussion on the draw backs that I see everywhere else this medicine is discussed.

The side effect list of Ozempic reads like a horror show script. I have a friend (an older female) who took it and lost a lot of weight fairly quickly. She says she feels better, but perhaps because she is older, the weight loss left her looking older and a bit saggy. Perhaps even regular dieting would have left her looking the same. We'll never know. But side effects are not to be ignored, and anyone considering this weight loss method should absolutely read the side effects list, which is very long and very serious.

@PeterH-be1xe I read the other day that Tylenol was the "least" harmful, and that is what my doctor said, also. I've been taking OTC pain relievers for a long time, but not obsessively. I was taking acetaminophen for my painful fibromyalgia and hip pain. But my yearly blood work showed my kidneys stepped over the line of 60% to 58%, and had dropped six points in one year. I have a good diet, don't smoke, drink sodas, eat much sugar, or eat processed foods. I don't drink, or consume more than 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day. So I have to look at the OTC pain meds. My doctor isn't concerned, but a six point drop has me very concerned. So I stopped. The pain came back with a vengeance. I was also taking a prescription (diclofenac) for inflammation, and stopped that also, as it, too is an offender to the kidneys. I found that natural products that are not harmful to the kidneys have helped me a great deal.

Actually, obesity is not merely a "weakness"...it is a disease which is linked to an imbalance of hormones in the body. As a health professional, there is a reason why Ozempic type drugs work...they help to "normalize" these hormones. Why do people feel the need to demonize what is a medically -based treatment for a medical condition?? All Ozempic allows you to do is to have a more normalized approach to eating and nutrition by regulating the hormones in your body which are "out of whack". Appetite, and impulse control are regulated by these hormones. These drugs are not the "easy way" ...they just allow your body to function the way a "normal" thin person's body does. There is absolutely no weakness or shame in taking a medication to treat a medical condition. The way the media has approached this matter is disgraceful at best!! My advice is to use whatever tools are available to help you achieve a healthy body mass, and to stop worrying about doing it the "hard" way. Your health should be more important than needing to prove something...

I have been on pretty much the same psych meds for at least 15 years (with occasional adjustments) and then in the last 10 years, added meds for heart failure, high BP, liver issues, and 2 insulins. I went on GLP-1s (first Trulicity for a year, now Mounjaro) in April 2022 and the only adjustments have been to the co-morbidity meds; I'm off all of them. Yay! Some people needs their thyroid meds adjusted, but I have not. For me, malabsorption of medications has not been a problem.

@HealthAtAnyCost yikes, heart failure. I'm on anticonvulsants and one cripples me if I raise the dose (and this decade loves the hikikomori lifestyle anyways-btw don't take Lamictal, it almost always gives you dreams so vivid you can become psychotic (I'm lucky, the closest thing I've had to a nightmare is being the front seat passenger with a bad driver, and since I don't know how bad the pain an accident would be my body can't replicate it) and it's often used for other reasons) and barely works at its current dose, plus I realized during replying I started having those thoughts before adding a benzodiazepine to the mix (currently trying to replace the bad medication) so IDK whether that's safe either.

I am not addicted to dangerous activities and when I find I am doing something that may not be good for me, I was able stop with no problem. For example at one time I used to drink about 4 diet colas a day, then I heard on the news that Aspartame may cause cancer so I stopped drinking diet soda and now I drink carbonated water which is just as satisfying to me. I cannot see myself taking Ozempic unless there is a good medical reason.

Good thing it can’t be prescribed without a good medical reason. And yes you are lucky, that luck can change as easily as getting pregnant (the most common factor in developing an autoimmune disease), or having an accident and needing pain medication. You’ll find most people with Hashimotos and other metabolic diseases actually follow very strict diets that go beyond “trying to eat foods that are healthy”, their habits aren’t the problem, The difference is they have an impaired metabolism and the weight refuses to drop beyond the overweight range naturally.

I am a retired midwife and have dealt with impacted stool, excavating to get it out. Someone who hasn't gone even a few days can end up in the ER having a nurse excavate. The dopamine starts when the ritual starts the moment you start to get the plate to eat the food, pull up to the drive-through or walk through the door of the restaurant. It is an addiction and you can overcome it if you really want to and you don’t need a drug to kill your appetite. And as far as reducing inflammation that may come from your food and if you eat less and better all those same problems will go away with no drugs. The more you educate yourself about food you will become healthier period

I honestly don't think there's enough research on Ozempic and similar drugs. I've heard there were cases of death related to Ozempic as well. I'd rather be sure it's safer, and gave people try safer, less medically risky methods first.

Same thing happened to me when on a keto diet. About one year later I got to my ideal weight so I slowly - very slowly - started adding carbs, but still ate mostly what I ate on keto - along with portion control. Within a few months I started gaining weight back. All the hard work, restrictions, exercises - all for nothing.

I do need to loose approximately 100 due to a poor medication Icwas given for 4 months. I was fine before then. I hope a GL3 medicine could undo this vs getting a surgery or at least cheaper.

Try Keto. My cousin just lost 90lbs in a year. He reversed his type 2 and sleep apnea. Much better then taking another drug. Its an endless cycle once you get into taking drug after drug to fix each other.

My diabetic family members have brought their A1C numbers down to 5.0 using Ozempic or Mounjaro. Also lost weight. I have normal blood sugar though and don't use any of these but eat protein and fiber for fullness.

The average person loses 8% of muscle per decade. What do you think is the average potential of muscle growth per decade with regular (4-5x per week) exercise and standard bulk/cut routines.?

People refer to ozempic as a general word for these types of drugs. It may not be ozempic but it’s the same type of drug,

What about people saying they were violently ill after taking it. And a man that said his wife died after trying it to wear a pretty dress to be in their daughter's wedding. Can you talk about some of that?
@alfhilda
@alfhilda 12 күн бұрын
What was the cause of death? A desire to wear a nice dress is not a reason to go on weight-loss medication, it’s only for folks with obesity.

@alfhilda I think something with it messing up her intestines. She was pretty chubby and wanted to look nice. Half the people (stars) that supposedly are taking it aren't that big.

The man's wife who died is Roy Webster and his wife was Tricia and they live in Australia. Tricia was taking _two_ GLP-1s at the same time to try and speed up the weight loss. The press, or most if them, neglected to mention that tiny important tidbit. She had two different doctors prescribing the meds to her so she could get the two at the same time. Sadly, her desire to lose weight fast brought on the major complications that led to her death. I'm sorry for the family. It has to have been horrible.

I couldn’t handle ozempic. During the time it was difficult to get a consistent supply. It basically was like starting over but at higher dose. I was sick for three days and it was bad. I’m on mounjaro and have lost almost 40 lbs in six months. A1c down to pre-diabetes. I am just concerned with the muscle wasting. Could that raise liver enzymes

Wonderful to everyone who is finding success. I encourage you to use this opportunity to change your diet. Get rid of sugar and ultra processed foods. Try reducing the carbohydrates you eat. And of course start building muscle. Your goal should be metabolic health.

I usually love your videos, but i think this video is doing a disservice to your viewers. There are plenty of negatives of these drugs and they are never discussed. Very serious ones. I wish it wasn't basicly a commerical for weight loss drugs.

A warning about one of the more common side effects is it can cause such burning in your stomach that you can't eat, drink or even function because of the pain. I tried trulicity (same idea as ozembic), and had the stomach pain that after 2 weeks I had to stop using. No amount of weight loss is worth the pain of these drugs diabetes or not.

@denisedarland3345 it seems different and more extreme with ozempic. It's very noticeable in youngish celebrities like Kelly Osborne and Rita Ora - in their 30's but facially now look a decade or more older. Usually when you have a lot of weight loss at that age you don't look dramatically older, something is different with the GLP drugs and facial muscle wastage. Not a good look
