I love making garments out of used/vintage sheets and whatnot! My favorite pair of pants is made from a set of vintage curtains

@@starylize you can also avoid doing hems a lot of the time, which I love

Also looking at the past is such a good idea too for sustainable tips like the Edwardian and Victorian wouldnt have waste fabrics and supplies! I really like looking at WW2 sewing/mending manuals :D.

I make cat toys out of small scraps. I cut 2 ovals and a strip of fabric to make a mouse. I sometimes attach a semicircle to either side as ears. I use smaller scraps or long strips of fabric as stuffing. This is basically how I got rid of all my bad quality early projects. And the animal shelter is thankful too

I use cabbage to make cat nip stuffed toys. Bigger pieces on the outside, tiny scraps chopped up tinier with the nip on the inside. Even use weirdly short yarn or ribbon scraps for decoration. And yesterday I got a Singer from 1921 at a thrift shop so i won't even be using electricity to sew anymore!

My heart just jumped out of my body! That's so insanely lucky! What an amazing find.

oh i feel called out by the last point (only buy fabric when you have an immediate plan to use it). I've been better about this recently, I either pick from my stash or I only buy it when I'm planned out my sewing and then buy what I've worked out I need

Just found your channel, really helpful techniques. Did you make the dress you are wearing in your video ? If not, mind if I ask where you got it? It’s adorable , thx and my gf and I look forward to more of your videos.

thank you for this video :) it was very informative. i guess it's time to get some old bedsheets and make myself some bloomers!

Great tips! I just can't stop imagining someone in a thrift store dragging an old bedsheet into the bathroom to light it on fire over the sink to see what material it is. And then the employee is just standing there watching them like 👁️👄👁️

Recycled polyester is weaker than regular polyester. It releases more microplastics when washed.

Good to keep in mind. I normally go after all natural materials whenever I can

you can get a microplastic filter for your washing machine to make sure it doesn't reach the water supply

At a thrift store I’ve scored 5 yards of upholstery jacquard for 3 dollars, anything is possible.
