Actually, these etiquettes are not so rigid and could vary among regions (even families)! So don't fret if you can't remember them. Just ask or observe. As a Chinese saying goes, heartfelt sincerity goes a long way.

I did! I visited that temple when I was in Taiwan. As I know that place is most famous temple in Taiwan amog Korean, so almost all visitors go there.

( translated by Google) 1. Longshan Temple is an important temple that contains Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and so on. There are hundreds of statues of God, such as the Lord God and the Buddha in the Basilica (Buddha), the ancestral hall of Sakyamuni (Buddha), the apse of heaven Our Lady (Tao) and Ziyang Master (ie Zhu Xi, Confucianism). 2. out of the temple to stand out in the temple looking out, left hand side of the "Dragon", the right hand side for the "white tiger side." The best from the left gantry into the home from the right tiger door, meaning "into the dragon throat, the tiger's mouth." Symbol into the Kyrgyzstan fierce fierce. Great temple temple, the middle of the door engraved with the dragon totem, known as the "Royal Road", that is the Buddha and the emperor (now the president) access to the channel. To avoid access from the door, so as not to disrespect God Buddha. Unless the temple has only one temple gate or only a certain door.

And people say there are no Taoist gods, and that it’s not a religion “only a philosophy”. Well then why does the most popular Taoist temple have houses for gods that people pray to? Answer: it’s a religion.
@Citizen_X.3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the main philosophy of 'Taoism' is to become one with the way (the Dao or the path) and to be in harmony with the universe. The Tao Te Ching does not have any mention of Gods or rituals or worship, if I recollect. These rituals you see here might have been introduced by the local people based on Chinese folk religion and differ from temple to temple.

Usage of the word "God and Goddess " create a lot of misunderstanding especially amongst the Christians and Muslims. The term diety maybe more appropriate.

Agreed. Celestial being, exalted former human, denizen of the heavenly realms, demi-god, “a” Buddha (not necessarily “the” Buddha); there exist all kinds of word-choices that could facilitate trans-religious & trans-religious harmony. And there exist many misunderstandings. For example, Westerners without much Asia exposure observe people praying and misidentify what they see, calling it idol-worship or idolatry. I keep telling them that Taiwanese people are not “worshiping a graven image.” It’s very challenging to get people to abandon preconceptions, though. I can spout all sorts of 1st-person research-based facts, but I think a person’s brain often needs massaging before it allows new facts in.
