Great tips! Ive been doing Flex for 3.5 years now. It blows my mind when I see people deliver without a vest. Even with a vest ive had the cops called on me twice (that i know of) and have definitely made my fair share of people nervous. I cant imagine being a POC and delivering some of these rural routes without a vest. Flex is definifely fun and i plan on continuing it! Just wish all the new people would stop taking base rates. I sure do miss the days when I could log on and have my choice of $28+/hr routes.

Don’t forget the times where the warehouse gives you packages for businesses that are closed. This has happened on a weekend where I get a package on a Saturday for a business that is only open M-F. It has also happened on a 6PM-10PM run where the business is closed by 5PM. It seems like their system does not catch that. I’ll read all the notes for the stops quickly before starting my route. At times it will be clearly in the notes. If I catch it, that package goes right back in the warehouse. Saves me a trip back there later.

Try delivering downtown Chicago. You’ll NEVER find good parking. Especially in the winter snowy months.

DSP driver here with a few tips. I'd suggest sorting by driver aid number, take a look at if your numbers are counting up or down in your itinerary, and then sort numerically (stops might go slightly out of this order but atleast you know 525 is between 524 and 526, also if you're worried about safety id suggest getting an Amazon prime magnet sticker for the side of your car, I've seen lots of flex drivers with them here and we have unbranded rental vans that we drive in the DSPs that we put these stickers on

Magnet, YES. They used to give us window clings and it's a great idea. What's the driver aid number is that different than the TBA number?

​@@YourDriverMike the Driver Aid number helps a lot, it changes depending on if its a standard Warehouse Delivery or the Subscription/Fresh Deliveries. It is usually yellow sticker that is on the package usually near the address label , sometimes it will just say the number on the package like 1/42 which corresponds to the delivery route, other times it could be a code to group with other packages that will be delivered in the same area like DDD or AAA. The sticker usually has Driver Aid written on it in small print.

I have to say yes being organize is the key because you might catch yourself shuffling through packages in someone’s driveway for 5 to 10 minutes like I know it’s in here lol. What I do is scan the QR code at the top, or the barcode to the left and Number each of the packages that will help sooooooooo much

Exactly that's basically what I did last time, numbered the packages then reloaded before starting because yes I used to just put them in then I'm sifting through 35 boxes trying to find stop #1

Last three days .... Day 1: 22 packages, 3 cities, 135 miles, 2 closed roads, finished 15 mins late an hour from home. Day 2: 6 packages, 60 miles to first stop, finished in 30 mins, 70 miles home. Day 3: 37 packages, 5 stops in gated apartment complexes, 3 with no access, walked around gates, cut through buildings, and at one stop carried 2 boxes 1/2 mile to deliver.

I found Amazon’s navigation to be subpar. I know my city very well and Amazon had me driving right past future deliveries.

I number the packages with a sharpie, I put the first ten in my front seat, the next ten in my back seat and whatever is left in the trunk. It works 99% of the time. I had amazon flex change the route in the middle of me doing deliveries to make sure packages were delivered on time and that really screwed me up.

I'm so glad I learned about the scanning feature to know which order the packages go in. Sometimes I've done at a warehouse, and that specific one puts it in order for me which is cool. However, I still have to scan each package.

Im doing my first block today after nearly 4 years on the waiting list for $68 for 3 and half hours and the warehouse is 10 minutes away. Ive delivered packages from Walmart on Spark and Roadie and what I'm not feeling about Flex is you don't know where you are going until you get to the warehouse.

@piffdaddy7661 I don't like it in comparison to Spark as far as delivering packages. One thing I'm starting to realize is if you get a block with a bunch of boxes that typically means less stops which means you can finish your route early but if you get a block with a bunch of envelopes and small packages you can expect more stops and takes about the full amount of time your block was scheduled for.

That’s the way I always organize packages too. However, my last delivery, a random package that I hadn’t gotten to yet was cancelled while I was driving. All of a sudden my entire route order was completely different and all my numbers I wrote on packages meant nothing. 😔 so just be cautious of this.

I delivered for a few weeks before I realized the little yellow labels on the boxes were driver aids that gave you the stop number. Saves me about 15-30 minutes per route now.

This is the worst app ever to make money. How does someone make any extra cash when the pay is terrible and you can only grab 1 or 2 blocks a week( if your lucky) Also the only stations i can get deliveries is AmazonFresh stations because after a while of doing other stations you start to recieve emails saying packages were not delivered and more serious emails that can fire you from amazon. (No matter how good you think you do it)There is no point in opening or using this app. This app needs major work

For me my biggest that bothers me is getting sent out to the middle of nowhere. I deliver in Eastern Idaho, and am out in the boonies most of the time. Driving at night out there can be scary, plus no bathrooms close by.

Worst gig app ever: No clue where you’re going until you are assigned you route for the day. No clue where you will end the route, possibly many miles away from your home. At $18 an hour gross and vehicle cost @ $0.67 per mile (IRS), your labor compensation is less than $1.00 hourly.

Send them an email. Be proactive about. Let them know you want to work for them and why they should accept you. Every waitlist I’ve been on, I send them an email and boom I’m accepted a week later. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. Give it a try

The scary music at the end 😂 that is true, I just tried flex. My first weekend the pay was good at like $33/hr but now they come out to $20 or less. I have a nicer vehicle so I haven't had an issue of anyone being scared of me 😅 I've only had an instance one time with a drunk person, luckily I had my shepherd with me. Ended up calling the customer to let them know their neighbor was acting aggressive 😅

The navigation was poor in New York Ave., York like Westchester where I live. It was slow after freezing up and it wasn’t clear and it didn’t have a really good map showing you the turns so I called them and they said most drivers use Google maps instead of their GPS in the app

I only wear my vest in the warehouse when I pick up. The vest makes me a target for someone to carjack me or to follow after I drop off and steal a package after I’ve left it. I’m sent to very sketchy neighborhoods in the Las Vegas area and there’s no way I’m putting a target on my back. I’d rather be safe than credible.

When you take everything into account, Amazon should be paying at least $30 per hour, minimum. I never take routes over 3.5 hours. To me I'd rather take a shorter route and be done quick. Also, some warehouses, the package sticker has the route number, some don't.

My biggest thing or issue I have with the flex app is the map and knowing where I am as I am walking to a house. It sometimes can’t tell that you are at the door but it’s pinning you in the street still. So like every driver knows this is the part where you have to chat with customer support which is faster but still I don’t want or like to do this part and yes I did the airplane mode and it still doesn’t work.

Agreed, last shift it wouldn't detect me within the delivery radius so I just had to wait at the front door until it finally pinged me. You can also message support to mark a package as delivered.
