As a Packer fan, I'm pretty upset they removed the crowd celebration. Almost after every TD most players would always go for the Lambeau Leap

"Sapien technology". I worked on this game for 3 seasons, and it never ceased to amaze me the buzz words producers would come up with to pass off basic things as if they were huge tech leaps, and they're still doing it today, smh. Man, putting this into perspective, it took them 18 years to fix the obvious skeletal misalignment, and they have the audacity to pump it up like a big tech advancement because they know gamers don't know better. Ridiculous. I have strong doubts that had any effect on removing fans, because those are cutscenes based on scene puppetry tech they built during the Madden 10 dev cycle and the rigging is different for that. They're doing what they always do: remove instead of improve, re-introduce years later, and call it "new". Mark my words.

Your comment makes me wonder why EA can't have a pregame scene featuring a star player coming off of a big game showing their stat line while the player warms up in franchise. Which in theory could keep the in game commentary linked to the player's performance during the game. 😅

i recently started playing 2K's College Hoops 2k8. They had a whole 10 minute season preview show where they discussed the entire top 10 teams in the nation, and discussed in detail the pre-season all American team 1-5. Every week they have a Week in Review where they gave updates about what was going on during your franchise. And after every game, there was break down and analysis of the game you just played. I just dont get why cant we get that level of detail in 2024

The crowd noise is way off for something they were emphasizing. You don’t here the team specific chants like J-E-T-S Jets in MetLife on Next Gen. Funny enough it is on the old Gen ‘24. Eric spot on with all of these exclusions. I really don’t like not having the presentation features like Next Gen Stats and or Super Fan crowd shots. In a game that was already sparse in presentation features I feel the lack of immerse takes away from the gameplay experience. I hope EA adds all of these presentation features that you called out in an update because as I saw mentioned in a review, Madden 24 feels like a “soulless” game.

In respects to the last removal, and I’ve always said this about EA: They need to take a hard stance on whether or not they’re making Madden to appeal to people who go to the games, those who watch on television, the players who play, a promotional tool for the league, or for gamers who simply want to reenact professional football. Can’t cater to everyone.

It's not EA's call. It is a promotional tool for the league, period. Ray can attest to this. A couple of years ago, I was involved in a Madden-adjescent startup as a presentation designer and operations director (I left due to major disagreements with the direction of the company and my own personal issues that needed to be addressed at the time), and I met with several NFL and EA officials, and there is zero doubt it is a promotional vehicle. The NFL DOES care about fan response, but they really do not care if it's "sim." They want retention, and whatever promotes retention is what pleases the NFL, so long as it portrays the NFL in an exclusively positive light.

Eric, I am upset that the helmet reflections are inaccurate when playing in the Superdome. I always loved how the “ring” of lights would reflect on the helmets. It would look so realistic even in past Maddens. It’s simply gone and it is not accurate at all. I’m guessing around M19 or 20, it changed. Have you noticed this? It may seem picky but they do strive for accuracy on small details and it’s just not right that it’s gone. ⚜️

I think you're right on with the Sapien Technology and the crowd celebrations, super fan and other things that all go along with being difficult to do in new technology migrating from old technology. Being a person that works in the computer industry, I understand that. I have only played Madden 24 once (I'm a collector so I get the game and play it deeper much later than most) However, I keep up with additions, upgrades, changes, etc through yours and other's videos on KZbin and articles and such through other media. So, knowing a little bit about how programmers "schedule" and add to, and upgrade and migrate from old to new technologies, it make sense that some stuff isn't there. I DO wish EA had been a bit more transparent about that but, from a business standpoint and marketing and sales, I guess you have to be careful what you say because sales may take a hit if players come in knowing something's not there. They MAY bring some stuff back like what you stated and I hope that they do and settle on an engine that can hold all the stuff for a while and, maybe in a few years, start over with what would be better technology. I think that's what we're seeing here though. They've improved the game but there may be some things that had to be let go for a short time or till the next version so that there's time to incorporate it. Thanks for your videos, Eric. The NFL won't allow the helmets to come off in the game because of the concussions in the NFL. They say what goes in the game also.

Two presentation features that they nuked from Madden years and years ago was 1. When you timed or laid a great hit stick on a ball carrier, their helmets would sometime pop off and 2. When you would make a big hit the screen would kind of flash like a camera went off. I guess I understand why they wouldn't want to promote huge hits and all for "player safety", but it was still a great touch to the game

They also got rid of the ability to create a superstar (avatar), then carry the same physicals over to the next player/position you create. Why is the the mode with the least amount of features given even less features in what’s supposed to be a “make or break year”?

I remember in an older Madden you could match your DB's by the name of the receiver. And it worked far better than now. I never understood why they didn't do that. Technology is far more superior than when they made that Madden. I don't remember the exact year though.

@@marcusrudolph5961 yeah can’t edit a player I put the team color spats on them currently Another thing that is broken is when your trying to edit arm definition or arm size, calf size, etc on some players it doesn’t work properly on the adjustable sliders

Ive Always been a franchise guy and i really really enjoyed the Presentation. I enjoy when they provided an intro into how my team and the team i am faciing has been doing. Showcasing some of the players who had great games previously and player who could play a big role into the current game im playing was Always a Great insight theat i miss this yr. I want to ask something about franchise mode, I remember in NBA 2k I won the championship with my team on franchise and the next season I could watch the championship banner being raised and see the updated banners while playing games sometimes but in Madden I remember winning like 20 Superbowls with the Panthers and being in year 2040 and it showed a glimpse of a banner and the only one that was there was 2015 NFC champions instead of all our new Superbowl championship ones.... 🙁 I know it's a weird thing to care about but a lot of us will never see our favorite teams win a real life Superbowl in our lifetime so at least would like to embrace it during our Madden franchise. Can anyone let me know if it's been updated or not in the new Madden? Because if not I'm not gonna bother buying it, I already emailed Madden several seasons ago that it's an important feature to me and they never fix it.

with next gen stats, they never carried through into the player card in franchise mode. there was a tab where you find health and progression etc for next gen stats but is was always blank. i guess they couldn’t make it work so cut it in match presentation.

We need real NFL presentation from all of the different networks for each night. We need it all: TNF, London, ESPN, CBS, FOX, Amazon, NFL+. This should be required, along with halftime shows, the game feels so lifeless, and now with even more presentational removals, it’s so weird for EA to have an exclusive license.

I think you're answering most of your own questions. For the intros and next gen stats, EA can track how many people skip those scenes, so if too many people just skip them, they can get them out of the game to leave more memory for other things. As far as players jumping into the stands, I can see the NFL telling EA to get rid of it because I'm sure the Shield doesn't look too kindly to players in the stands for any reason, even to celebrate.

I wonder if EA is forced to get the game in at under 70 gigs which is why they are always taking things away, whereas 2K basketball is 150 gigs which is why there’s whey more content.

Played Superstar mode as a WR for the Chiefs, by the beginning of preseason Season 2, Mahomes had been traded to the Raiders with a rookie taking his spot, and Bijan Robinson on the Chiefs now....stopped playing Superstar mode immediately

Why the hell would they put the sapien tech into the crowd? They literally look the exact same. My theory is that the frostbite engine is a dud and they’ve had to cut assets to keep it running 60 frames. At the same time, frostbite looks great on Fifa. Makes no sense to me
