You see a lot of male K-Pop idols being touchy-touchy towards each other (that's the reason why there's so much gay shipping with male idols), but yeah, it's just cultural. For me, it's more of a shock because I spent most of my life learning about Japanese culture where it's the exact contrary, people really don't touch each other in Japan, even couples, and one of the first things you learn when you get into Japanese culture is as a European person is: "be careful with physical contact, Asians really don't like it!". You can imagine my shock when I got into Korean culture, I was like "MY WHOLE LIFE WAS A LIE!!!" 😂

LadyPrincessDiana Actually from my experience I see a lot of touchy feely-ness among girls in Japan too. It's usually high school girls and sometimes college but when I go to the clubs I always see girls holding hands, sitting on each other's laps, and such. Also, most couples hold hands or lock arms, but I've never seen them kiss. I think that's where the line is drawn 🤔
@LadyPrincessDiana

Solitary Adventures Yeah. All Asian girls do that from what I've seen, and there's really minimal PDA between couples in Japan, but to see all the touchy-touchy things Korean do in comparison, it's quite surprising at first. Especially guys!

LadyPrincessDiana god I had the same réflexion girl I visited Japan 2 years ago and noticed that hey are not touchy at all 😰 and my best friend who is living there since years explained me this cultural thing and I was shocked especially for couples 😩😰😰 and then one year ago I discovered the neighbor Korea and I thought it’s gonna be the same case but Hello surprise it’s the opposite TOTALLY 😃😆 I was like whouuuuu this is a big lie 😄😌

She includes eating & drinking in her vids in a way similar to mukbang, where the youtuber eats & chats with their viewers. It's very popular amongst Koreans, I guess these people complaining don't know about ASMR & Mukbang. I don't mind at all, in fact, it's very relaxing. *Anyway* Your videos are the bomb girl very helpful & funny, your baby is super cute. Seriously they are so informative as I consider a trip to South Korea & a marriage with Lee Joon Gi ❤😂

If I ever locked arms or held hands with another female.. We'd be viewed as couple and whatnot, which is really weird to me. I'm naturally kind of touchy, but I just can't touch another girl in a friendly way because it's 'rude' at school. And it bothers me a *lot*

I hate my school because they get awkward and quiet and just ignore it when straight couples sit on each other's laps making out, but when I sat on my friends lap because there were no more chairs, one of the vice principals gave me the dirtiest look and said "show some respect. Please." Like seriously, homophobic much

I feel like asians in general are touchy. So I'm Asian and I have this one friend who's Asian too. And she's the type to be really touchy. Like she wouldn't hesitate to lock arms and touch my face and etc. sometimes at school, she would see me and lock arms in the hallways with me, which I don't mind, and she'd always touch my face like a couple would do, and I'm not really the type to be touchy with anyone. Like I'm not the type to just touch my friends face and lock arms with them like her. So sometimes I feel uncomfortable because I'm not really touchy LOL

The skinship thing, it’s very common/normal for Korean guys to have physical contact. Ex) sitting down and having their arm around their friend’s back, sitting extremely close to one another, hug each other, play with each other’s hair, hold hands, etc etc etc. This is normal for Korean culture and doesn’t mean they are gay. There’s been many times when Korean guys study abroad and interact the same way they would with their guy Korean friends; and boy is it a culture shock to everyone. Korean guys see nothing wrong with it but most of the world assume they’re gay due to their body language. I also really hate when fandoms say that certain/all members of KPop groups are gay because of this. There’s nothing wrong with being gay, but fandoms need to chill. Two idols made eye contact - omg proof they are gay! Two idols just touched hands - omg proof they are gay! Two idols have the same necklace - omg proof they are gay! Also, please remember that Korea (along with many other countries) are still very conservative. Even if some of these idols are gay, they’re probably terrified to announce it to the public. But whenever any idol announces their sexuality or if they have a boyfriend or girlfriend, then let’s please support them and only show them love and not hate. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

See, I'm a gay guy, so if I hold my boyfriend's hand here it's "Oh they're gay" but when I visited Korea with him I tended to have to be like "Ah, no, this one is mine, please remove thineself" with a couple girls.

Three questions: 1. I'm 27 and I wear knee length skirts and don't show cleavage. Would that be considered "prudish" for my age in Korea or would most people feel that it's appropriate dress? 2. Also, what if you're not a super touchy person living in Korea--would you be considered anti-social because you don't like your friends to touch you? I feel like in America this wouldn't be an issue because Americans are all about their "personal space" not being invaded. I'm curious on how that concept works in Korea. 3. I know that Korea is very group centered--what if someone is super introverted? Do other Koreans think that they're weird because that person doesn't like group activities? What if that person likes going to places alone (like a coffee house)--would people stare?

There is ALWAYS a psychological reason for any person / culture thing , like being touchy etc.. Most of all, people feel lonely and are afraid to be alone or not loved. So they get to confirm those feelings by getting close and being touchy. There is a big reality getting widespread in the world. People are connected at all time with technologies but feel lonely on the human side.

I am almost 26 and I still don't wear shorts or anything that shows my legs, I always got comments in elementary like "wow your legs are so pale" or my favorite "how do you have dark hair but your skin is so pale" (natural hair is like a shade or maybe two shades from being considered back). I don't wear shorts because of those two things cause my hair on legs looks back and then like really pale with thick legs

I gotta say, me and my Girlfriends often also hold hands while walking through the city. At first, we only used to do that when many people were around to not lose eachother but nowdays we just casually walk around like that. Same with random hugs or putting the arm around the other. I don't think it's weird or anything because i do it with friends whom i'm really close to. We also kiss eachothers cheeks to greet eachother but that's completly normal and i've seen alot of other girls do this stuff. Sometimes we even give eachother a smack on the butt when we're joking around. I don't thinks it's weird, well at least not in my country...

I'm about to be twenty on Tuesday next week and I have to carry an umbrella sometimes if the sun is like really harsh because I have extremely sensitive skin to the sun. It's a lot of problems I get but it'll be a long list but one of them is that if I'm in the sun to long and it's really hot, my skin becomes painful sometimes to the point where I would cry . It's quite annoying really and I hate that I'm like this but it's just something I can't help.

Thanks for the touchy-feely explanation. I have an older Korean immigrant friend who is like that, but seems definitely straight... actually, I like hugs and need them sometimes, too, so it's OK with me so far, and I think will always be. Western culture (I'm American) is a little too wrapped up in appearances sometimes (like Asians are too wrapped up in being white, lol).

In Brazil we are very touchy, but more between girls I guess. Even tho I’m a boy my girl friends let me hug them and touch their hair. Between girls (like my two best friends), they like to sit in each other’s lap to rest. I also have a boy friend that likes biting my cheek XD I find it adorable and it hurts sometimes lolol we always hug each other to say goodbye in the end of the class and a kiss on the cheek in the start of the class. It’s a veery common thing here because most of us really like this friendly connection that you can have and not be too judged. I know girl let other girls use their clothes here I think?? Lolol

Hi im from india and i think there are lots of similarities between korean culture and indian culture...like cleavage is a big nono here..and short skirts too though.nd yes FAIR skin is the best skin unless for the celebs..there is not much dating going on only in secret because yes love marriages are looked down on. Also we girls are touchy feely we hold hands outside but not men..nd homosexuality is a shame were i live🙄 tattoos are like not common especially on women...

Interesting to watch and funny when I understand some of them just by watching Korean variety shows, haha. Couple outfits will forever be weird to me.

Good to hear that skin ship is common among Koreans, well it was very weird and uncomfortable whenever k pop fans shipped two idols of same gender just because they look close.

Im from america and showing cleavage is no big deal, its just part of the fashion. And me and my friends will lock arms while we walk but not hold hands also sit on laps, hugging and sometimes greeting and leaving someone with a kiss on the cheek since im from a very spanish and Hispanic area.

We do a lot of the touchy touchy touching in the Caribbean too. It's like totally not weird at all if girls that don't know each other start hugging, holding hands or sitting on each other laps etc. But for the boys however.... well you know as the saying goes no homo bro
