Final consonant(Batchim / 받침) Lesson : kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3aZoWmMbLqje7s Update (July, 2024) *Corrections & Notes : 1) 02:19 ㄹ itself is actually closer to "l" sound, rather than "r" sound. But when it's combined with compound vowels (diphthongs,) they're better represented as "r." In my book, I changed the analogy to "long lines." Both analogies (long line and rattlesnake) should work, though! 2) 04:45 You can just take it as one of the memorization techniques and think of it in the context of games or zombie dramas :) In the book, I changed the analogy to "key." 3) 05:10 ㅌ's accurate name is "티읕(ti-eut)," and not 티긑(ti-geut). If you're interested in my book, feel free to check the description box! 한국어 공부 화이팅! ^^ My best wishes on your studies ♥ If you have any questions, you can leave them in the comment. I appreciate everyone's dedication to learning the Korean language! ⏰Time Stamp 00:00 Introduction to 한글 00:40 Consonants 06:41 Basic Vowels 11:12 Let’s read Korean words! #1 16:45 Breaktime & Encouragement 17:06 Compound Vowels (Diphthongs) 22:38 Let’s read Korean words! #2 24:54 Double Consonants 27:30 Final Consonants (Batchim) 35:55 Outro

As native Korean speaker, here are some tips: The most basic consonants that you have to remember are ㄱ,ㄴ,ㅁ,ㅅ,and ㅇ. Putting additional lines on these consonants create the rest. For example, adding two lines on ㅁ makes ㅂ. Also, Korean has a softer sound than English, so '나비' is not the exactly same sound as nabi

@이은재-j5e Жыл бұрын
the pronunciation of ㅓis a bit different from the 'uh' sound.. It makes a deeper sound; somewhere between 'oh' and 'uh' and for ㅕ, it makes a "yuh" sound I hope that helped!

As a Spanish speaker, those double consonants are easy and I'm glad you used Spanish to help convey the proper sound. For those who have trouble with it, Spanish consonants are much lighter than English. Instead of pronouncing a hard "t", just lightly tap it to the roof of your mouth, not committing too hard to the sound. Same with the other consonants, keep them light and don't commit to them so hard.

Here is a tip for everyone that had the same problem with ㄹ pronuncing R or L: If the consonant ㄹ is between two vowels, then it'll usually have the English “r” sound. but, if it's at the beginning or end of the word, or precedes a consonant, it'll have more of an English “l” sound. what helped me was an video about sound change rules. it helps with reading words and helps your progress a lot.
