Started my locks the traditional twist method. I 8 months in I stopped doing retwist simply because it felt bothersome. After discovering the freeform community I found individualism and patience. I’ve followed guys like zayloc, knot nation and even Troy but my main inspiration is bob marley himself. I still get questions like why is your hair like that? I just brush it off because I’m confident in my hair and ready to see where this journey will take me. I’m 2 years locked and 1 year fully freeform. My hair is combining but I only have a few Congo’s so far. Even though it’s not where I want, I’m appreciating how it looks now. Bless up to Troy and anyone on the freeform journey. One day at a time.

My loc journey has taught me to embrace my natural beauty. When I first started in January 2021, I still wore a lot of makeup, nail polish, etc. With the change in my hair, I embraced more of a minimalist approach to my “beauty” routine and started to be more mindful about the products I used. Now I only use natural products and my skin has improved immensely. I don’t even wear makeup anymore. My loc journey was really part of a whole lifestyle change and I’m grateful for it every single day! 💗

I got a question. I got freeform starters, on the 5 month mark. I got this one dreadlock shampoo with aloe vera, and I got this African black soap with unrefined Shea butter. Should I stick to one or both? I notice my hair likes both, but the African black soap shampoo with unrefined Shea butter is what got my hair loc'd up in June.
