The loneliness is real! I’m sure all pregnant Mumma’s out there having to go to their appointments alone or even giving birth alone has excelled this feeling even more. Thank you Shan for raising such an important point and it feels nice that you have created a platform of such supportive ladies 💁🏼♀️ due early April and can’t wait to meet my little girl and feel this overwhelming love 🥰

Have you considered a childminder rather than nursery? They're usually quite a bit cheaper and you get the benefit of it being a homely environment with the same caregiver every day. Plus George will still have other babies at the childminder's to interact with. It also means they can be taken to the park etc. They have to be ofsted registered so will still have to provide the same activities and education as nursery. I'm a nanny (also another option) but that is usually more expensive than nursery, although worth looking into. If you go for a nursery, often nursery's attached to primary schools are less expensive (no idea why). Just some ideas :) x

So sweet. Loved the video. I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and I did not expect the hormones to be like this. I never get hormonal or anything before or after my period so this, this is something else. I am literally praying the lows are just a hormone thing and go away. It’s most likely this pandemic that’s making us feel this way I guess. But being hopeful and positive helps almost most days 💪🏻 love to all 💞

I'm due in 10 weeks, this is really helpful. Childcare is definitely ridiculously expensive and because I work shifts we won't be able to price it up until I'm on mat leave and work agree a flexible working plan for me. Not as easy as if I had a Mon to Fri 9-5 but that's just how it is I guess. Loved the last point! I think at the moment I'm so caught up in getting ready for my LG I hadn't stopped to think about that side of her being here, but it's lovely and makes me look forward to her being here even more.

This video made me cry. I am seven weeks in with my beautiful incredible little boy who is an angel - good at eating, sleeping, smiling, etc. But I have felt really emotional just this week. I have an incredible partner who is locked down with us, as we are both school teachers and everything is shut. I am breastfeeding - hardest thing I've ever done in my life!! I adore being a mum and I'm 30, so a bit older than you. But, cripes... it gets hard some days. I just love our baby and I am so amazed by him. Can't get over, even now, that we made him! On the flipside, I feel immense cabin fever atm and my hormones are still adjusting to not being pregnant and I am still absolutely exhausted. The everyday grind of feeding and changing around the clock can get samey, but other times, it's my favourite thing ever having this little boy to nourish. It doesn't help that we are in a pandemic and that it's January so too cold and dark to show him the world outside. No one can visit us to see him grow. I guess I have quite a bit of FOMO in terms of his milestones this first year. I worry about all the little 'normal' things we won't be able to do together that I'd hoped for. 💔 I have found your content on IG and here really comforting. Especially when there's no mum baby groups at the moment. So thank you. I'm just taking it a day at a time and not planning and doing all I can simply to embrace him. I'm so with you on your final point - being with him every minute and finding out about him and noticing all his new behaviours is what keeps me smiling. I just feel very lonely, even with my partner here, working from home.

Oi, just you hang in there buddy. It's clear how much you love your little boy, it's bouncing off the page. It's ok not to be ok, and soon you'll jump through another hoop where you'll feel unbelievable again, and back to yourself. Just keep doing everything you're doing and that hoop will occur naturally. Try not to overthink the best you can - and remember that everything passes. I hardly ever write comments but yours deserved a reply. And some love. So here. Here's a big fat heart from a total stranger who can see you're struggling but can also see what a magnificent job you're doing - - - > ❤️

Outfits: SO true. We panicked and asked people to buy us loads of 0-3 clothes. I've just given away 2 FULL black bags of them. Ridiculous amounts. Childcare: it's crazy money! I always thought I can't afford to go back to work part-time but I'd probably be better off financially if i did. BUT I'm similar to you in that I really need social interaction so will be going back full time. Plus with covid it's pretty pointless being off work half the time because there is literally nothing else to do. Baby groups aren't happening.

Wow 6 baby grows would have lasted us maybe two days tops. With both of my boys. They just peed so much that no newborn nappies were able to hold that much. And we tried loads of brands, winky down etc. My second one also has quite a lot of spitups now (12weeks) so even though nappy wise we’re better, we do need to get changed sometimes. Poo explosions are mostly happening if you breastfeed, so I think you’re fine, Shan!:) And loneliness is a thing. Especially as a first time mum. Second time around you already have a group of mum friends, hopefully.

I agree on everything (except number 4, in Sweden childcare is not that expensive and is based on your income)! I became a mum at 21 yo and number two hit me hard. It was sooo lonely being on maternity leave and that made me incredibly sad sometimes. I had no friends with kids so eventhough I had some close friends hangig around they couldn't fully understand how it was becoming a mother and I couldn't really get the understanding and support that i needed and that I think older mums get from their friends.

Definitely the loneliness, I had my first baby 2 years ago and second 3 months ago. There are things that I wish I had known for my first baby, that I now know for second. Like how to teach them to fall asleep by themselves and not to take them at every sound they make. I also thought that I would bounce back easier with my second 🤣. It was actually harder and longer recovery.

I also want to add something about sick babies. I have learned that 2 babies can be so different, while my first baby was sick after every feed and I had to change her like 3-4 times a day, my second has never been sick and I literally don't have to change him until his bath time. And I was so expecting sick baby and had prepared loads of clothes. 🤣

I really didn’t expect the hormone changes I’m not an emotional person I was stuck in the hospital for a week and it was so lonely then I thought it would be just in the hospital but my baby did a scream in her sleep and it woke me up and I was sobbing and I still don’t know why I was crying like that.

Omg this is a massive one for me too!! I wasn’t emotional at all either, quite a closed book - but now I’m like a waterfall when I see a cute advert 😂😅 it’s crazy! I was exactly the same in hospital too. Cried my eyes out 😅

You may be eligible for tax free childcare. Its £2 for every £8 you spend topped up by the government into an online account. You have to register snd the nursery of your choice has to be signed up too. I work in a nursery and i actually dont agree about the cost. We are the cheapest nursery around but its due to the space available and funding my boss gets from the government. You will find the expensive nurseries are just in it for the cash 😂😂😂

My little boy was born in November, his first nappy was a poonami so you can imagine, I had an emergency section so the poor midwife had to change it and since then at least once a week he has a really bad nappy

For what sets out to be quite a candid video I was a little disappointed about how coy you were when discussing your body “bouncing back” after the birth. Before getting pregnant I had no idea that you could bleed for up to six weeks afterwards, and that’s before you get onto urinary incontinence etc. It would be so refreshing if we could break the taboo by talking openly about what really happens after birth so that women are well-informed and know how to deal with these things before they’re also faced with trying to care for a tiny newborn as well as themselves whilst very sleep-deprived!

Thanks for this video Shan! I’ve got a 3 month old, and I didn’t think about how lonely it would be - it’s made much worse with the pandemic. Also agree with the clothes point you made, this is our 1st baby so to be honest I got a bit carried away with buying new things for her. But half of the clothes she didn’t even wear more than once in newborn and 0-3. Love your channel, and hope you can check mine out too! I’m just rebranding my channel to a mummy and baby channel xox

So true, it's hard normally, but chuck in a pandemic and it's brutal!! But yes, with clothes I was being so conservative with what I bought, but he still ended up with SOOOO many cute things that he never wore!! Haha! I'm heading over to your channel to check it out now!! xxx
