Loui, I know this is not your crabbing video, but I saw it and really wanted to tell you it was amazing! You were a beast out there!! 12 hour days hauling, working, cleaning, cutting bait, etc! Again, I commend you on how hard you worked in an extremely intense, and strenuous job. I’m so sorry 😞, things have been difficult and it is my prayer that smooth sailing, calm seas and exciting things are in store for you. Your authenticity was very admirable. I hope you know we appreciate you.

Any local hand crafted goods ? I made a set off kitchen utensils out of pine . They work just fine and have for years now. I try to make as much of the things I need . Some things have no substitutions 😉

Oh yeah totally! People will trade and barter for things here too. However, I don't think there is enough handcrafted stuff! Maybe I should pick up wood whittling hhaha

Admire your style, living out your dreams. With camping, overlanding and working the land, the learning in self-sufficiency is invaluable imo. Thanks for your videos and sharing your adventures.

when I was able to travel alone I made a lot of one pot meals that I could make three meals off of. Pata, soup, chili things like that. stews. yes get real tired of eating the same things over and over but if you look at cost per meal its cheaper to make one big batch and eat it for several days rather than buy for each day. You will figure it out and honey you are used to living in your jeep. Dont spend money on decorating the studio when you wont be staying. its just throwing money away. Save it to build your dream and I know you can find ways to be comfortable without decorating because you have been doing it for years. Put up some fairy lights and just chill and watch them twinkle and relax. You got this girl. no doubt at all about that.

I saw some pictures of pallet furniture on pinterest that was cute. I'm sure you'd have to clean it and pull nails out but it's an option.

It's interesting to hear your cons about Alaska. A lot of the speed of how things go reminds me of my friend who just moved to Japan. Their speed is pretty much the same, especially when it comes to getting your licenses, and business done. An elderly couple that I knew husband would go up to Alaska in the summer and make so much money just cuz he would do driveways like you want and build various other things as well. His wife told me that there seems to be a lack of builders there.

Interesting list - all communities have pros and cons. You and your Mom are doing great in Alaska. I know the slower pace will drive you crazy. That is probably more a small community issue. As for the wildlife I live is Southern California and we have bears, bobcats, coyotes and wolves also. Enjoy your community. Looking forward to the crabbing videos. Travel safe.

Hi Loui, what's the weather like there lately. I live in South East Queensland Australia we are in our winter season ATM so it's interesting to hear where other places are like.

I lived out of a truck up in Alaska (what is now a days called "overlanding") in the early 1980s, it was a Toyota SR-5 4x4 pickup with a canopy top on the back, got me anywhere there was a logging or mining road. The expense of living there was absurd. Beer was cheaper than soft drinks when I was there, the "animal beer" was the PBR of Alaska, so I drank a lot of beer. Most of the protein I ate, I caught, hunted or trapped. Lots of fish and small game was consumed.

Hi. I'm late getting to this video. Can you raise chickens and/or goats and pigs on your land in Alaska, or is that dangerous because of the bears, wolves, and moose? Loving sharing your adventures.

I live in Hawaii and I have family in Ketchikan who have been trying to get me up there for years. It's actually a little bit cheaper up there for me but I don't know if I'm ready for the dreary weather.. everything else seems the same just the snags of living on an island. Although my Island has about a million tourists on it clogging up all of the freeways taking up all of the parking. It takes an hour to drive 9 miles on a 12 Lane freeway just to pick up my daughter from school everyday after work. I would move to Alaska and fist fight bears and moose if it meant no more traffic at this point 🤣

I was wondering if getting a small apartment would lead to you buying a lot of nick nacks to increase your home comfort while back at your home base? Not Needing to store them in a storage space would keep an unwelcomed bill at Bay. Just something to mull over before you start buying stuff. Thanks for the video update glad to see Working it out as a deck hand! Safe journeys #Artisbluu

Miss Loui you and your mom need to visit British Columbia Canada. We actually border Alaska. The difference is we are mild even though we have snow. Winter here is much shorter and you have more access to goods. Happy to send you some information about the area anytime. Many who live similar life style as yourself arrive here and find happiness .
