I have a 2018 Impreza hatchback manual and i did a nameless muffler delete, the thing pops like crazy and it definitely turns heads, I get compliments on it all the time. Sounds amazing but isn’t fast.

Few years ago I bought a '17 Toyota 86. Personally a great car despite the lack of power I had a lot of fun in it, but deep down the 2015 Evo has always been my dream choice. Oddly enough I too am in the process of becoming a police officer and although I don't own an Evo I agreed with all the points made especially 1 and 2. The interior could look better personally. Almost everyone will agree that even with the Final edition not having recaros is a bummer, but overall I still love this car. Such a dream car like the Evo is by no doubt going to have flaws, but I still want one :)

A cop pulled me over about a year ago in my evo 9 because I had a wonderful emissions R on the windshield at the time and after we got to talking about cars he was indeed an evo fan and totally understood my emissions problem living in MA and he let me off!!

Turbo is at the back so that the exhaust doesn't have to go under the engine, allowing the engine to sit lower so the whole car has a lower center of gravity 👍

I bought the 2014 MR with the 6 speed SST, usual one I get is, it’s an auto. Um nah it’s manual too, I use the paddles to shift all the time, I just don’t have to wear out my left hip joint too soon with a clutch. Anyone who asks is it a manual I just say yep. I mean Ferrari’s, Lamborghini’s, GTR’s, WRC cars have paddle shift. I love mine.

See I have the opposite problem that you have. I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer gts. I’m in high school and It’s my fist car. However a few of my friends thought I had an evo at first but I had to remind them that I have 150hp, I’m fwd, and I’m 3000 pounds. Just because I drive stick doesn’t make me an evo owner. HOWEVER, I have more fun just driving my car than anyone else in the school parking lot so idc that I'm slower than a Ford Fusion 😂

I had a 2010 Evo X GSR. I hated that it only had a 5 speed, the lack of low-end torque, the weight (1.6 tonnes) and the YAW pump which needed to replaced. To be fair that was under warranty, but the fact that this expensive part ($2500) was open to the elements made it a ticking time bomb for another repair once the warranty had expired. Finally, I live in a place where there are very few curvy roads. I had to drive 4 hours to get to the mountains, where the car came alive. Yup, there were things I hated about the Evo X, but I miss it so.

A few have touched on this but sorry to say, It's a "Lancer Evolution". The seats were a bit of a bummer but that was not Mitsubishi's choice. 2015 saw the addition of stricter airbag laws (seats). The Recaro's don't have airbags so they were left out of the last model year. The turbo gets its cooling from the center hole in the hood.

The hood scoop feeds air to the turbo to keep it cool. Also, shorter exhaust travel, better performance. That's why they changed the orientation.

I mean the EvoX is supposed to be a part of the Lancer Evolution family, but well it doesn't have the same motor as the Lancers before it that had a critically acclaimed engine that competed with the likes of that Subaru and some would argue with the Nissan Skyline, but the Evo just flipped off the Lancer family, new motor, new look, it's more family friendly, it looks awesome but it tries so hard to be an "everybody" kind of car but everyone complains about it.

That's why I'm planning on getting a a Ralliart. It's got a 6 speed transmission. Also it cost alot less and with a few mods, you can basically have evo performance, not mentioning the fact that it already has Evo transmission.

I think that the turbo is on the backside because doing otherwise means turning the engine, which means having the gearbox/transfer case on the left side of the engine bay, as opposed to the right side. This would mean that you would have the engine on the right side, and you would be sitting on the right side making the car slightly heavier on one side and a bit off balance. I'm just taking shots in the dark here, I know that Honda developed the K20 to spin the opposite direction so they could have the engine on the right side, which is opposite to the driver, making for better weight distribution in the Type R, which was mainly sold in countries that drive on the left. But I doubt this was Mitsubishi's reasoning, they were probably just being lazy.

Owning an Evo IX (you know, the one with the turbo in the right spot ;-) ) since 2006 I totally hear you about the "Lancer" thing. I've never called it that, nor searched for it on Google etc. Nothing against police loving cars BTW. Heh, I used to visit a UK Police BBS where they were giving us tips on how to safely drive performance cars; they were petrol heads just like every other petrol head. I'm sure you know the UK traffic police has used Evos for a long time ("Police Interceptors"). The Recaro seats in the IX are great (not saying that to annoy you) though, even for long trips, sad to hear they went a step back with the X. In any case, these are awesome cars, and if one keeps the mad antics confined to the track, you can use it safely as a daily driver without ever losing your licence. (My only fine in those 13 years was doing 78km/h on a 70km/h road...). A slightly bigger gas tank would be nice though ...

You need a bigger turbo that does not go into boost until after 3500 rpm, when I had my stock turbo and then the fp red I had the same crappy gas mileage issue, but once I switched up to a pt6262 my cars. Gas milage literally doubled because I cruised at 2500 to 3200 rpm which kept the the car in Dr Jykell mode 🎉🎉🎉🎉.

The name real is a Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer X. So it is technically a lancer, it shares a lot of the same components. The Evo is just a sup-up version or the rally version of it.

No offense but as a fellow Evo owner this is still a Lancer and always has been. There are differences that a lot of people don't see and yes a lot of people make their Lancers look like Evo's but underneath our cars are way different. I also debadged mine. Is it better and different than a standard lancer? Yes absolutely. But it still uses a lancer chassis for a reason: b/c it’s a good chassis. The turbo engine and great suspension help u get the most out of the chassis. It’s the same with the RS focus. Chassis is the same as standard but the awd and 2.3 turbo bring the car to whole new level b/c that’s its full capability. This is the basic theory behind any Evolution model car. Rep the lancer name. If nothing else tell the subie kids they lost to a lancer lol

Lol a Evo is not bought for interior or highway gearing, if It has plush leather interior the price would double bro. The turbo in the rear had to do with engine design it was proven that having the engine spin in the opposite direction allow The engine to spin faster, learned this from studying the engine design of the German VR6 motor. You can do what I did and have a dual tune on your car so with the flip of a switch you can go from e85 to what ever grade gas is available in your town. It’s that temprah v7 )on a stock ecu for the Evo. 8/9 ) so you can still pass emissions ect,not sure what it is for the Evo 10.
