Another excellent video, the ROC is beautiful. I’ve had my 2019 N1K for about 3 months now and your “concerns” are right on point! I thought I was going crazy with how wicked hot the bike gets!! Heck, the temp gauge maxes out and the fan kicks in just cruising through town but I guess that’s the nature of this powerful beast. Mine also sucks down the gas and man, sometimes I second guess myself and wonder if he’s WAY too heavy for me. But, like you said, despite these “issues” I love the bike and will stick with it. I only ride for fun and always take it easy, no doubt not using all the available power. Love your channel, brother. Stay safe and healthy.

Another very well edited video. About the engine heat, you're right. The bike needs a certain speed. It's not a machine for slow cruising. It is all more comfortable and functional at medium or high speeds.

I'm getting this bike next year and it's hard to find reviews of actual owners vs glowing reviews of short term rides so this is appreciated. Honestly for a top 5 dislikes vid this was pretty tame and to me speaks more towards how good the bike is. I also agree on the price of the bags being a little high, especially since you have to buy them separate, at least in the states. Still bikes like the GSX-S GT+ does come with bags but are more expensive so its all kind of relative. I'll get the bags and just eat the price, buy once cry once.

I had to really nit pick on some of these points in order to make this video haha In reality I really love this bike and I can see myself riding her for years! Asides from the price I like the Kawasaki Pannier bags, my only other complaint would be the way they open, which makes it harder to fit some heavier mountaineering/ camping equipment so I chose some Givi bags that have been working very well, but they do require some support arms. Thanks for watching, brother! Hope you subscribe for some more content on this 1000sx!

I have the previous generation with the 4 stainless steel exhaust outlets, I live in Queensland Australia temp can easily get to 35°c + in summer and I never noticed any excessive heat although I never used it for commuting, as for milage I definitely got a lot better than 40 mpg but I noticed that you remained in 2 nd even at 35 kph , the sx can pull 50 K in top easily I would be in at 3rd or 4th gear at that 35 kph. What did surprise me was the vibration once I hit 6000 rpm , below this the bike was very smooth. It was one of my favourite bikes but decided I wanted a big Austrian V twin for a change.

I do tend to keep her in lower gears, I like having that instant power available but like you said, it costs more gas to ride that way! Riding in stop and go traffic in the city also lowers my milage a lot as well. Australia gets extremely hot, im glad you were able to ride in 35c+ weather haha, the combination of heat and humidity is what gets to me! Im sure you have a great time riding in the beautiful Australian roads, I've been there a couple of times and I'm always impressed by how beautiful the country is! Many compliments to you especially for speaking english in such a comprehensible way also for non english mother tongue listeners. I'm just considering buying this bike or its direct rival, Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT, that frankly I love the most from an aesthetic point of view. I owed and rode a BMW R1150R for 20 years and It's getting a little bit obsolete, and above all I dont like 2 cylinders engine sound any more, also because my first big bike was an Honda CBR600F with a very beatiful exhaust sound. Had mine since 2017, and keep looking at other bikes, but as soon as I get on her and drive, reminds me why the Z1000sx is such a great bike. Yes she can get hot, especially in traffic, and she is 'wide' and long, but I commute into London twice a week and have no issues filtering. Fantastic all-round bike that just does its job, and is especially happy bumbling along a motorway at 70/80. One other pointer, with her double led headlights, hardly ever have people pull out on me, unlike previous bikes, where it was a daily activity. I value those eyes very highly :)

I am not sure I'd want both a top box (47 liters) and saddlebags (56 liters total) on this bike anyway. Metal tank equals magnetic tank bag, which is a cheap option for secondary storage. I have a 2013 which means the sexy integrated bags were not an option. The factory top box is just a Givi anyway, so I bought the Givi box with brackets and a backrest from a European site on a good sale day, and after Canadian duty and taxes, was in about $650 CDN. Best thing I ever did besides losing style points. Now I'm able to get food, beer, and many other items. Trips are easy and my occasional passengers can relax. Not to mention, the bike is no wider than before, even if we don't have legal lane splitting here.
@LiterFreedom

@@kevinjacobson2202 honestly your brought up some great points here! I can’t really argue with them haha Unless you really need the extra space that the saddle bags could offer + top box (such as long camping trips on remote areas where you must carry a lot of stuff and an extra passenger). Let me ask you a question. Is it easy to remove your top box bracket? (I mean the mount for the box) or is it practically mounted there for good?

@LiterFreedom
@LiterFreedom 3 ай бұрын
The foot peg position is a bit on the sporty side, after 5 or 6 hours of riding I start to feel that I need to stretch my legs more often, so I take water breaks after every hour of riding to keep myself fresh! I will say that the gold wing is miles ahead of this bike in terms of comfort, however, this bike is a lot more fun for spirited rides on mountain roads! The fjr1300 looks to be similar to the Ninja 1000sx but way way heavier, I agree that the ninja will feel like feathers for you! haha Congratulations on your new bike, brother! 1. Heat. It's a 1000+cc engine and you live in a country comparable to the surface of the sun, what did you expect? 2. Economy. Like the other fella said, stop going everywhere in 2nd gear. You said yourself the bike has bag loads of torque, you don't need to stay in a low gear all the time. My '17 Z1000SX gives me an average 48mpg. One of the complaints you mentioned was the bike produces so much power, well that's cos you're in 2nd gear.....you also have an option to turn the power down which you can do while moving. Try it. 3. I didn't notice reason no. 3, unless it was the whinge about too much power. 4. Size. The reason for the width is cos if the bike was skinny, every gap you rode through would cause you to lose the panniers. The mirrors at the front of the bike are designed to be the exact same width as the panniers....ie, if the front fits through the gap, so will the back. 4 (x2 - ah that explains #3 being missing). Price. Welcome to the modern world of inflation and unreasonable price gouging. Kawasaki is not unique is overcharging for accessories. 5. Ergonomics. Ok, so lemme get this straight.....you find the bike too hot, too uneconomical, too powerful, too big, too expensive and too uncomfortable. Are you absolutely sure this is the right bike for you?

All your concerns are somewhat valid. I' not wondering about your fuel consumption if you allmost using 1st and 2nd gear while you driving though village or small chilling streets (at least in this video). Here in Germany, citizens are really sensitive about Motorbike noise. So I allmost use high gears driving with my 1000SX, e.g. 5th gear though villages at 50km/h and the SX does not feel to have a problem with ths (compared to other bikes). So fuel consuption goes easily down to 5.2l/100km - yes, as well 6.2l ore more is possible;.). Compared to similar bikes for touring or even crossover bikes, the weight and size is not that tall. As well the prices in Germany, contrasted with the competitors, are not that high. I really like that bike, because, it is two bikes in one: first ad chilling tourer on low RPM and second realy sporty while stepping two (or three) gears down. Of course, it is a compromize on both sides. Only alternative is, to own two specialized Bikes. Have you considered the Ninja 650 as well (or e.g. Hondas CB650 variants)? BTW: I see it recommended to have a short brake every hour during tours - don't matter which bike you are driving. Your country looks so nice for bike driving, have fun!

How ergonomic is bad? Can I travel long distances?
@LiterFreedom
@LiterFreedom 5 күн бұрын
So in terms of ergonomics this bike leans towards a sport bike, it’s certainly way more upright than a super sport, but, when you ride with this bike for over 5 hours will you certainly feel the “sporty” ergonomics, now, this doesn’t and has never stopped me from having 10-12 hour riding days! Any other question let me know, brother! Ride safe!

@@Iliy-f3o hahaha yes! If you take many breaks you should be fine. I mean, there are certainly other bikes that are way more comfortable than the 1000sx but they won’t be as fun as the 1000sx during those 10 hour riding days heheh

I live in Queensland and gets pretty hot here, after the ninja 300 this is the least hot bike I’ve owned, worst one was the KTM 690 duke, always running below boiling point. To me the worst thing about this bike is the weight and height. I almost dropped it again getting out of a shitty gravel roadside parking spot, hurt my left leg trying my best to keep it up.
@LiterFreedom

Thats very interesting to me, Im not sure if my particular bike just runs hot or maybe because I use her too much in the city and she's not exactly designed for that...I mean she's a touring bike after all... I have been in a few situations like yours, where gravel, oil or not paying attention (on an uneven surface) nearly led me to dropping her and what saved her was leg muscles haha 😂 I appreciate you watching brother, hope you're keeping healthy and safe out there!

@@LiterFreedom Strange that the weight is a problem for you on the Duke 690 , it's a very light weight bike , the height is something else , I'm 1m76 and most bikes with a sit height more than 82cm is for me also not comfortable .

@@LiterFreedom 🤔 the ninja can easily get between 90 and 100 Celsius, but at 100 the fan will turn on, usually reaches 102 max but with the fan on will drop down to 99/98. If you’re running these numbers everything is normal. It does tend to shoot air a bit up and it does get a bit hot but I think no more than most bikes.

What part of the video are you referring to in terms of gearing? According to google the 1000SX gets an average of 17KPL while touring which is what I’m getting. If you use her everyday in the city as I am you’ll be getting way less! Compared to a Honda Fireblade 1000RRR gets 19.6KPL, other motorcycles get way way more too! So yeah in comparison to other bikes the 1000SX is not exactly economical but not the absolute worst!
