Proud owner of a silver 2016 EcoBoost Premium here. Bought the car from an Acura dealer for $20k w/ 29k miles back in April 2021 and I absolutely LOVE it. I just came back from a week-long 2,000 mile road trip and I didn't have a single issue with it. I've taken it as far north as Maine, as far south as North Carolina, and as far west as Michigan. Just crossed over 62k miles on the odo coming back home. I did also purchase the Ford PremiumCare extended service plan for 6yrs/72k miles (little over $2k) because I knew I'd be driving this for a while. The only issues I've had with it thus far: - Cosmetics: the hood has had a small oxidization defect on the front lip since I bought it, and the rims had some scars also (totally fine because I've added some by accident too) - It did crap out on me once right outside my office, ended up being vacuum relay sensor or something odd (warranty fix) - Another weird sensor issue that didn't affect the drivability (again, warranty) - The heated/vented seats gave out due to a common issue with a wiring pin frying (yet again, warranty) - I did recently replace the crappy factory 2-piece lugnuts for the wheels because they finally swelled and were difficult to get off It's had little electrical hiccups here and there like most cars, but in terms of the mechanics, it's been shockingly and pleasantly reliable. It's a super comfortable car to drive, very quick, very nimble, has a shockingly large trunk for all my stuff when I go away (I buy/sell/trade antiques and license plates when I go on road trips)... truly can't say enough great things about it! I have zero intentions of selling this car until my life situation changes.

I have a low pitch race exhaust on my 2020 premeir with cold air intake and a downpipe with blowoff valve with a tune and people can't believe it's a 4 cylinder. There are a lot of mods, yes, but that low pitch catted exhaust with downpipe made all the difference with the cold air intake.

Owned a 2021 6 speed manual Mustang Ecoboost since new. I did 80K miles until 2023, mostly highway commuting miles, and occasional (great) cross-country trips. Best commuter and grand touring car I have owned: beautiful design, great on gas, quick and, if you modify it properly -mild tune and upgraded suspension-, as I did, you have a good handling car that will give you little mechanical problems and a lot of fun. Since I didn't need a commuting car anymore, I sold the Eco and bought a manual GT. Honestly, it has been a great joy to own a GT mustang under my current circumstances: equally beautiful, really fast at middle and high rpm and just a joy to drive - Do some suspension adjustments and you have a big, but really fast car if you, specially if you keep rpm at 5K or above. Which one I like it more? The GT, no doubt - for me that platform is perfect with 460 or more hp to be enjoyed at its fullest. However, if you need a sport car for a long daily commuting, the Eco would be my choice and you won't regret it. It's fun and reliable.

I’ve been driving my 2018 eco boost since it came out, I love everything about it except how unsafe it feels when the roads are slick (when it’s about to rain or when it just finished raining) The front of the car is extremely long and the back is so light it just dances. It’s extremely scary and never accelerate on a turn unless you want to hydroplane.

Does the traction control system not work well on these vehicles? I'm in a dilemma between a 2.3 and a 5.0 but I thought they weren't as difficult to drive as long as you're cautious and not flooring it on turns
@rowceo4 ай бұрын
@@VILLAINAIRE I wouldn’t be able to say for sure as I am no expert but I believe it also has to do with the weight distribution of the vehicle but the traction control does not feel as great as in other cars. But yes as long as you don’t drive crazy it is a great handling car.

im actually thinking about buying one. Next year im planning to buy a weekend car for a nice price. So im deciding between 2015 v6 and the eco boost. The insurance on the V8 would eat me alive 🥲😂 And about the hate on the car, mate we are happy if we get something in our country that is more then 2,0l 4 cyl engine and not a hybrid 🥲
@jameswittholt50552 ай бұрын
ooh good call. I was trying to justify the big increase in price from the eco boost for the new GT but not sold because that's a lot of dough (for me at least). Totally forgot to factor in insurance. Thanks for the reminder.

I disagree with the 1st, I'm building out a 2024 eco and with the active valve it actually sounds pretty good for a little 4 banger. Gonna throw a bypass valve adapter on there to get that turbo sound and I think it'll sound amazing.

How is it on gas ?
@douglaskeen873Ай бұрын
Not very good. My 2021 Ecoboost uses a lot of gas despite being driven conservatively. I can still make a full tank last a month only driving it two-three times per week, but compared to my late Nissan Maxima it can be quite a thirsty drive.

The interior’s cheap cloth seats are Ford’s biggest fail if you want to keep it as a long term classic. The fabric gets loose at the seat side bolster.

I agreed so I converted to Katzkin leather kit and it looks and feels phenomenal. Not cheap though $1600 to $1800 professionally installed. But worth it!

Resonator delete muffler delete like 300$ well worth it also get the 6 speed clutch. Also blow off is a must. Replace the fuel pressure sensor. The one from Ford is trash and will cause you to blow the motor. Upgrade intercooler charge pipes and get a CATCH CAN!! THE PERFECT CAR. UPGRADE THE TURBO AND YOU BEAT THE V8 VERSION WITH BETTER GAS MILEAGE.

Genuine question from a potential buyer: I’m looking at two Mustangs at similar prices right now: 2016 GT w/ 71k miles and 2015 Ecoboost at 33k miles (both out of warranty obviously, and both manual transmissions). Don’t plan on tuning them, just enjoying them stock. Aside from what others say about the 4 cylinder vs the V8: does anyone know how the two engines directly compare in terms of reliability? Through the grapevine from car friends I have, many are wary of the 2.3L specifically in any Ford because of reliability problems they’ve run into or heard about, not necessarily because it’s a turbo 4. I feel like I haven’t heard as much talk about reliability issues with the V8? Maybe it’s all hearsay, but I’ve struggled to find direct comparisons on the engine reliability.
