Number 1...mimimum viable product. Buy good speakers and go basic on other components you can upgrade or add to later. Number 2...seek a community business accelerator program or a business mentor. There are a lot of resources. Practice practice practice. Number 3...don't waste a lot of money online. Seek real life connections with local vendors...even DJs. Number 4...keep a calender with future daily tasks and make an x through a task once complete...never double book...one per week to begin. Number 5...it's going to take 3 to 5 years to hit your goal in most cases...Farm reviews and always give more than your client expects. Always be helpful and support the event as a whole...not just your part.

these tips were great and very vital to a DJ like me who just recently gained some legs with my business. My question is in your opinion, what are some key methods of being able to promote your business via Internet or in your community effectively?

Great points DJ Woo Pig. I actually just moved to a new state and I understand your points now. I basically have to start from the ground up and network my way into the business.

A lot of great tips. This helps me a lot. I just started my mobile DJ business two years ago and I can relate to all 5 tips. I gotta work on some and be patient. Lol.

#5 is peoples downfall. I am going on 5 yrs part time /full time full time spring and summer part time winter. I live in Sikeston Mo just down the road from you and brad Dillon. And just now getting a few contacts and referrals. I thought like a lot of people do when you get into this that people are going to be banging on your door. learned real quick that is not the case it takes a long time to get known in the area as a mobile entertainer.

I'm a DJ out of San Francisco. love your chanel. one rule I wish I would have known back when, NEVER work for another DJ. don't let your good work fatten up your competition while you get paid peanuts and locked into a non compete agreement. I've been working 6 years and only now started getting on my feet because of this mistake.

I didn't even get peanuts

I recently joined an entertainment company and I get more gigs then I would have ever gotten on my own. He's been in business for 20 years so it helps. But perhaps it's different if you're looking to do it full time. Thanks for the advice!
