Le Mans Ultimate seems to have found a recurring player base according to steamdb charts. While many issues remain in LMU's early access, we have identified 5 things that the developers at Studio 397 have done really well.

@user-my3yp1wb2zThe studio has a bad reputation A LOT of people bought this gaming thinking they are probably hiding behind the early access label myself included however after a few hot fixes and patches I can say the game is running good

So far I like how LMP2 and GTE feel, the hypercars are lacking a bit force feedback wise, maybe are just my settings, but with the other two classes it is perfect. I like the lightings and the tracks model. Let's see how the sim will evolve, the potential is enormous

I cannot agree on the driving side of things, I actually feel quite the opposite from what was said. LMU clearly uses rF2's physics while bringing some changes that look good on paper but end up clashing when trying to drive a car. The cars still need to thrown into the turns like in rF2 but the moment the tyres go a bit over the limit it feels like the grip just turns off. Before anyone points out tyre temperatures, cold and hot have the exact same behavior over the limit, the tyres will go into hockey puck mode the moment you upset them a bit too much. On top of that, the faster drivers seem to be turning the wheel far too much through some turns, bringing tyre surface temps upwards of 140c to get the desired cornering. I've never seen the need to do this in any other sim, including rF2, pushing a tyre to those temps results in understeer in all other sims. LMU feels way less natural than rF2, and rF2 is already a pretty quirky game. Some quirks are still around, like tyres having to run very low pressures to abuse the really high slip angle they can achieve, or peak grip still feeling mushy and hard to feel out. To me it feels like they went the "difficult = realistic" route with LMU, which is a shame.

Rear just snaps without advice like going over a puddle of oil even in slow turns like 2nd chicane at Monza, driving feels terribily awkward compared to Iracing Ams2 and even rf2

Wonder if this is down to wheel settings. That iRacing feels slippery is not a secret, was called IceRacing for a reason. But I don´t have that problem with rF2 and LMU at all (and iR became better obviously). So yeah, maybe that is down to wheel/base or just general liking. Way easier for me to go between real life and rF2/LMU than real life and iRacing. - Rene

@@OverTake_gg Well, if we bring iRacing into the discussion then yeah, LMU and rF2 are way better at portraying a realistic car. However, to me these days nothing comes close to AC and now Raceroom with the recent tyre refresh. Same can be said about setups for the most part, the way I'd setup a car in AC (not ACC) and Raceroom makes way more sense than how they're setup in rF2. From what I can tell LMU's setups are similar to rF2, really low tyre pressures and a pretty loose rear for lots of mid corner and entry rotation. I think it's besides FFB and wheelbase quality, I genuinely believe the cars are just behaving in a strange way in LMU, especially at low speeds. rF2 doesn't feel right at low speeds either, that's where AC and RR excel IMHO, but at least the car doesn't just wipe out without warning. Obviously, this is simply my opinion about LMU, but I genuinely think something's wrong with it otherwise I wouldn't be saying this. However, if people like LMU and/or rF2 I'm not the one who's going to say they're wrong. Some people may think I'm crazy for liking AC or RR over LMU. At the end of the day, they're all games. They're ought to have issues and won't please everyone. AC and Raceroom also have physics issues, but I can live with those better than with the issues LMU has, so I guess it really may be down to general liking. It's amusing how we have so many games trying to emulate reality, yet they all feel so different.

They need to be careful about their updates plan... The first 3 hotfixes in the first week seemed a bit artificial and most likely pre-planned before release. Also they need to insure the patch notes reflect all changes, as there was clearly a change in tyres temperatures displayed in the onboard dash of some cars (confirmed by a dev on their discord when I asked the question...), but it was not documented anywhere in hotfix 4 (that was 800MB for seemingly only online rating fixes and steam profile changes...) ! The first big patch will most likely make or break that early access and the future of the game. If they can deliver on their promise and at the same time stay transparent, they might end up in a winner position, else...

I'd also argue that one major thing the game does right is the release date. By coming out 10 days before the WEC season starts, it gives people time to grind their online license to open up multiclass and get excited about the season opener in Qatar, then after the first round is over people who saw it and want to play can buy the game and get started. If only Codemasters and F1 could get their release dates sorted like this.

I want to point out the driving on this game, especially on controllers. It feels very assisted even though the steering assist setting is turned off, it messes with my head with the input and how much the car slides or not, and I have to use the hood cam because the cockpit cam just feel weird. I don't know how others feel about it but that's my personal experience with the game, hopefully it improves more and more. 👍

It's good to hear that the sound design is immersive and been given attention, as I find sound as important as ffb realism, but I am disappointed that there is no mention of VR. Also, a comparison versus AMS2 would also be informative.

VR is in the works for LMU, it's not ready yet so not released.

a good tip is. do not esc to pits after race it will kick u to the pits at the end of next race unless u leave the game b4 next race.

Man I had issues with moza r5 wheel , reverse ffb setting can’t be set in moza pit house only in the game or vice versa but not in both

My copy doesn't do anything right, because it crashes every two corners, I can't play online nor offline, and in the last hotfix the cars audio doesn't exist, just ambient and menus 😭😭😭😭 I'm gonna leave the game for a year or so, hoping the time passed by I had a descent game to play 😞

Fantastic game. I hope they can fix all the issues but in the end, once you’re on track, there is nothing like it.

Certainly I have enjoyed playing LM Ultimate, yes there are a number of fixes needed, but it has a great potential. I can’t wait to get smooth playing and mengue navigation. Would love to see this also expanded to IMSA and the tracks for that series. Great job

The biggest problem is that people with assists are playing in the same sessions as people without them. This is completely wrong and must be fixed

I'm just so glad people get to experience the magic rFactor 2 can produce, iRacings hype for rain will be the ultimate test for its player numbers but I still feel LMU will be a better choice for the majority of its player base.
