Please Note: Martin Green will start as Director of the ESC in November. So! He has some time to figure out how to make the following things happen ;-)

100% agree with you about interviews - especially with the changes the Dutch have said are secured to address 2024 - he needs to start controlling the narrative ASAP! (Especially considering he is opinionated about war and conflict)

Random idea throw : Get a mandatory local sponsor from each country. It can be a small one but the goal is to secure a minimum of of budget for each delegation and maybe allow more to participate.
@AlesiaMichelle2 ай бұрын
I don't hate this idea except it should not be mandatory. Some folks do have the budget.

That's some very interesting ideas! What stands out here is that you really focus on content creation, from the news to brand sponsorships to what Peacock could offer. How could we (as fan-based media) help out, if at all?
@AlesiaMichelle2 ай бұрын
Fan media is largely self contained. The EBU needs to achieve that same level of consistency, cadence, and flow.

I’d rather a global sponsor rather than a sponsor owned by a company of a participating country.

Hi Alesia, great video with interesting food for thoughts; your first point made me come back to mind some tweets i read on X between a fan and the official Bulgarian account: this one stated the complete westernization of the Ebu, the contest and the fact that some countries are partecipating by inertia, it's very sad😢
@EldaMengisto2 ай бұрын
Interesting. What policies do you want to see so that Eastern European countries would have more of a chance?

Alesia, I can understand your thinking but you have to understand these are all public broadcasters. I don't know the rules for the EBU but broadcasters are not commercial. We have commercial channels but they do not participate. There is this tendency (in the Netherlands and maybe in other countries too) to attract younger people. I thought Moroccan Oil was fine until we got Tik Tok. Rules changed and especially for those ESC-addicts. I think we should look at ESC as cultural heritage. Not in a museum but as a serious competition. It could be partly coming from an EU-budget. And you are welcome too. Always.
@AlesiaMichelle2 ай бұрын
@@Wamubodo the EBU already has brand partnerships for Eurovision, so I’m unsure what you’re highlighting here that would be contrary to what’s already happening and what I’m suggesting. We ALL know that Eurovision is done by public broadcasters. Eurovision can STILL be an opportunity for cultural exchange AND be a sustainable vehicle that is sustained because of these partnerships. The EBU has made it abundantly clear that the cost of Eurovision is skyrocketing, whether we like it or not and solutions need to be presented.
@Mloofylicious2 ай бұрын
Alesia is her usual brilliant self. I'd suggest the EBU instead of citizens arrest, arrest those citizens who make participating artists feel so threatened they stay in a hidden location. People have the right of free speech but that shouldn't warrant the freedom of expressing it in an aggressive way. Also make sure that participating artists don't assume they're the ones setting the rules. In other words, the EBU shouldn't allow anyone, mistake the guests for the hosts. Whatever happens though, if Celine shows up to sing her winning song, my wishes are fulfilled :)
